A really beautiful car. And it’s great to see Donald behind the wheel of a classic car. 👍🏻

The only point of interest could be that way back in the '60's my parents ran a pub in Shaldon ,England . One of our locals claimed he was the only apprentice that W.O. ever employed and trained . Mr. Arnott gave me a piston top that he made that was used as an ashtray. Mr. Arnott was a gentleman who did not exaggerate or tell tales.

Another great video. Watching Donald drive along second beach with St George School in the background looks stunning and the video setting allows you to mentally put the scene back in the 1930s with the car in context of its time. Well done!

What a beautiful car. The essence of what a drive in the country is all about.

I just bought a 1938 derbybentley a year ago. Restoring it to the beautiful condition that you are driving here.
The quality of these Bentleys are just not appreciated enough. They are not the same as the ckrickwood cars, but a unique
series of their own. Love the video, keep them up.

Another fine video... Keep up the great work Donald👍. Don't think we don't notice you avoiding small puddles on the road after a shower to avoid getting the car dirty... A true classic automobile lover!

Great cruise, Donald. I saw a 4 1/4 Bentley drive through downtown Tilton, NH years ago and got to talk with the owner. I think the "20/25" designation referred to its British Tax 'Horsepower' RAC HP (Not its real horsepower, which is a bunch higher). The British tax I read was really more on displacement, but they called it 'horsepower,' maybe to be quirkily British.

Donald, I have to say, I eagerly await your videos every week. Your joy for and love of the ‘automobile’ come through on every single outing. Such wonderful vehicles each and every week.
I believe the 20/25 refers to the fact that the ‘new’ models were constructed on the original 20hp chassis, but with a more powerful engine, hence the 25.

Great video. This was a favorite car of mine at the Shining Bright exhibit. Took a ton a pictures of it, but such a treat to see it out on the road and learn more about it.

Ah, the RAC Tax Horsepower rating! This was developed by the RAC at the invitation of the British government to establish classes based on engine displacement for taxation. It was meant to tax luxury brands but, unsurprisingly, was also directed at larger engines featured in American imports, notably the Model T Ford. Many British cars used the designation of tax horsepower/actual brake horsepower, although I would think a Rolls-Royce 20/25 had more than 25 real hp! The tax formula directed British manufacturers to produced engines with very long strokes and limited piston area, which became a competitive disadvantage in the post World War II global car market.

Hmmm...I thought the chassis for the Derby Bentleys of the 30s was based on the stillborn Rolls Royce Peregrine project. Instead of using the more advanced engine developed for the Peregrine, the Rolls-Bentley used a variation of the inline six used on the Rolls 20/25.
I have heard that the Peregrine chassis was a little underbuilt for the 3 1/2 and 4 1/4 engines used in the Derby Bentleys and was said to flex a bit. Pity if that were true.

Just an observation. The cars that gave Donald the biggest grin (@8:15), especially when the engine is singing like Pavarotti during the best bit of Nessun dorma (My barometer for how good the car really is) The only grin of approval I have seen made is when Donald drove the Ferrari 400, Dino and this bad boy.

Rolls Royce 20/25 named for its horsepower? Old model had 20 new had 25hp? I am only guessing because the following models where called the 20/30, and they had 30hp. The Bentley is the better looking car!

The videos are OK, not great. Donald is very knowledgeable and likable but I wish he would stop and give us a nice tour of the cars like Leno does. Show the engine, ID the controls, etc.
