People know African music cause of the Nigerian and South African music industry (Not hating on those industries they've done great in bringing Africa to the world) but what happens is other countries are overlooked... This is beautiful and hope the whole world realizes African music is more than just afro beat and amapiano music
Not true. Salif Keita, Baaba Mal, Youssou N’dour, Tinirawin are all huge artist. I don’t know any Nigerian artist except Fela, and he was an African version of James Brown. Soul Makossa is the most recognizable African song in America and I think Babatunde was from Cameroon.
I know it becuase I have always liked other music from different countries and look for it. Hey look, an person from the US who didnt fit that bland discription.
@Dami Dude, I marvel at how Malian anything seems to blend well with Yoruba culture. I think they are a huge source culture for West Africa and the rest of us learned from them. Only thing that didn't get traded our way were the strings
Beautiful tribute to African migrants who endure so much peril in the desert and in the Mediterranean in pursuit of greener pastures, which eludes most. And for good measure, their loved ones back home are left with so much anxiety, longing and sense of loss.
THE TROUBLE IS THAT EUROPE DOES NOT WANT THEM AND THERE IS NO POT OF GOLD AWAITING THEM, ONLY NAKED RACISM FROM PEOPLE WHO HATE FOREIGNERS. AND THAT I AM SORRY ABOUT IT AS I AM A ENGLISH MAN WHO BELIEVES WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN GODS WORLD. ACTS 17:26. YOUR BIBLE.
These are the lyrics: This song is about the heartache felt by two lovers separated by distance. My love and my confidant has gone far away and has not sent any news back to me. I love him despite everything and I miss him every day. I want to hear from my darling; otherwise I cannot sleep well at night. My love has gone far away and may never come back He has left his family and friends behind and gone away He may never come back What am I to do? He was my friend and my confidant How is he? Just let me know how you are You have gone to a faraway land I miss you greatly You have always been my guide And I love you with all my heart My love has taken off Who knows when he will come back? My darling has gone far away And may never come back again He has gone to live in a faraway country He has not told me anything It was not the rough morning weather That prevented me from seeing him Nor the heat of the midday sun Not even the dangers of going out at dusk Because I could not sleep well if I didn’t see you

Mali has the best music and the most amazing musicians in the entire world. My stack of African music is easily half Malian. What took place to make Mali the heart of so much great music?
A strong tradition of story telling and Sufi Islam. That's the recipe for Mali's music greatness. Try to listen to Somali music, it is equally enthralling.
Beautiful music filmed in the exquisite place of Dankil Depression and Afdera from Afar, Ethiopia. Thank you for showing this stunning place and culture to the world. Big shout-out to all involved.
That's a very amazing music 👌 I have always been a fun of Malian music. So beautiful. And big respect for coming to Ethiopia to make the music video at Afar 💚💛❤️
So sad by the lyrics and so full of hope by the melody ... We all deserve to hold tight in our arms the ones we love - no matter how long it takes. ❤️❤️❤️ Love forever!
What a beautiful song! Everything about the song is so addictive and captivating. I couldn't help getting reminded of Ethiopian music, specifically those from Gigi (a collab would be fire). I became very interested in the resemblance of the sound, melody and language of the Bambra with Ethiopian languages. It is interesting how West and East Africa would have such a resemblance in their music.
Thank you RUclips for showing me that my favorite Malian artist has a new album!!!!! This album will be on repeat for weeks just like her last album.... her music is like the soundtrack for life! We love you Fatoumata!
I first listened to this song flighting Air France. It was love at first sight. The melody and rhythm is very calm and soothing. It makes me want to be Malian
