Did you know there are about 21 Rainforest Cafe location worldwide and Galveston Texas is still the ONLY location in the World with a dark ride?
Ticket is $9.99 per person + tax.
Ride filmed July 2024 at the Rainforest Cafe in Galveston, Texas.
I’m in Orlando and went to rainforest cafe. I was SO hyped for the ride. I was yesterday years old when I learn Galveston is the only one with a ride after the hostess and husband made me think I’m crazy.
For it to be at a restaurant and not a part of a major theme park is pretty impressive!!
Yeppers. I've been to three of them. Coolest chain outside of a themepark.
@@someoneout-there2165too bad they are bankrupt I believe or that they are closing more locations and haven’t expanded much despite being a very unique underrated business
This is pretty cool! They just need to increase the frame rate on the projection animations and turn down the volume of the elephant sound effect.
Thank you for also noticing that the framerate is like 1 frame per second, it was driving me insane 😂
And add some new music lol
It would have been more interesting if there was a section where you go into the actual restaurant and passed by a couple of tables.
Yeah, Disney does that very well at Epcot with a couple rides.
I think the last time I was in one of these I got very intoxicated and ended up hitting on the waiter. These are great restaurants though. 😂
was waiting for that
Maybe they'll even give you signs when you're at the restaurant To hold while you're watching at the window for riders to see like the Pinocchio restaurantt Disney world
Nah put the dining table inside the ride while it goes around the restaurant.
The ride could really use a surprise (gentle) thunderstorm along the way - like what happens while you're dining in the restaurant.
It needs just a bit more excitement, and that would help. Perhaps the storm could even happen at random times, so you don't really know where you'll be on the ride when it happens.
(It used to have one, along with a lightning bolt effect on the ceiling, but it was more intense than those in the restaurant, and was probably scaring littler kids too much. The ride also used to feature spiders which would drop from the ceiling, to just a foot above your head, at the very end.)
Yes!
Downtown Disney
This is everything I'd hoped/expected a Rainforest Café ride would be. I must ride it now.
Everything
They finally showed it some love?!?!? I guess I can go back now. Like its not perfect and nothing too fancy but they hadn't given it any care in a long time so it makes me happy none the less.
Makes me wonder if they'll do something for the halloween version they used to do
I think this is great! Every rainforest cafe should have this!🎉
Interesting. Maybe they should add dining to the ride too, just put a table in the middle of the ride vehicle lol.
Will be interesting to eat soup during the ride
Wait!? What if I want a Refill?? More Chips & Salsa? Will there be Animal dispensers along the way?
Actually that would be great but insurance cost.. not so much. 😂
That's a great idea lol!
Fr the ride is slow
I love how the projection shines on the seats of the raft as it goes by! 😂🤣
No, no, horrified by, not love.
"This palace stood on its own not connected to a Wetzels Pretzels or a Lids store where in 2011 they sold so many baseball caps with superhero logos"
-Eddy Burback
this was actually so much better than what i was expecting
Well dang... I can't even imagine what you were thinking?!?!
Seems like a nice gentle ride with lots to see, a bit of escapism. Just right for someone a bit older than the average kid, like me.
That looks so fun! I would love to ride that. I like the trick waterfall towards the end. Ha ha. I'm really missing The Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney Anaheim. Celebrated so many birthdays and holidays there. It shutdown during Disney's attempt to put another hotel in. Construction was halted indefinitely after the city of Anaheim said the hotel was ineligible for tax incentive rebates. It reopened as a Star Wars Trading Post.
I really miss that Rainforest Cafe too! 😢 I used to work @ the DLR back when it was still there in Downtown Disney along with the AMC theater, House of Blues Anaheim & ESPN Zone! We used to go there sometimes after we got off work in the evening, and I liked those elephant & tiger animatronics they had in the main dining room! Wish they NEVER got rid of any of those places just for that failed hotel project! 😫 (though I'm glad they reopened HoB over @ Gardenwalk)
Yes, we all definitely miss the Rainforest Cafe in Anaheim too! Had many wonderful celebrations & created special memories there well! Miss their pot roast & sparkler lava cake for the bdays especially!😉 Unfortunately they're destroying sooo many nostalgic attractions at Disneyland & it's just not the same, ugh! 😔
Same here! :(
If you ever make it to Disney World in Orlando, there's *two* Rainforest Cafes there! One at Disney Springs and one at Animal Kingdom. There's also a sister restaurant at a Disney Springs named T-Rex, which is a Rainforest Cafe but with dinosaurs instead.
I rode this over the summer in 2024, and my kids, who were both nine and six, loved it.
Seems like a ride to get away from the heat for a while.
Legends of the Hidden Temple the ride 😂😂😂😂😂😂 if you know what I’m talking about 🙌🏼😂
Are you referring to Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland? That’s what I was thinking of along with some 1950-60 Jungle Cruise animatronics
It's a Nickelodeon show from the 90s. It was great. wanted to be on the show and get stolen by a stone statue
😂😂😂😂 that's totally the vibe here
Projections just shine right in your face.
they did a great job but the projectors are on the celing making the seats in front of a screen as well.
Looks like fun!! Also, I just remembered watching a RUclips video of someone visiting every single Restaurant Cafe in America.
I know my next family vacation destination..
lol so campy.
Someone at a meeting really said: “You know what our restaurant is missing? A theme park ride”
This gives off OG Disney vibes, I love it.
Yes I was thinking 1950-60 Jungle Cruise animatronics was used.
@@annlebelt2676 lmaaaaoooo
We've got all these animatronics from our shuttered Mall locations, let's use them to make a ride!
The cheetah animatronic's weird af motion made me more concerned for it than for me 😂😂😂
the projection mapping at the beginning needs some help with alignment, especially shouldn't be shining on people in the boat. otherwise this ride looks like a blast, not too bad at $7
In my day the waitress just gave you some crayons and a paper place mat 😂
Cracker Barrel.. or they would give you a wooden triangle where you had to jump the pegs in it until only one remained. I think they got me one in the gift shop, took me forever to get it. 😂
@@someoneout-there2165 I had one too! Nowadays those pegs would be stolen day one 😭
It's like they got a discount on orange light bulbs. I remember when rainforests were green.
Ride looks cool and fun
It's wild this exists but they call it projection mapping when it's not. These are just regular projections. No scaling at all so everything just warps on surfaces. And the elephant constantly trumpeting my goodness... Flawed but I'd ride it nonetheless.
The day either Cher or Stevie Nicks retire they better instantly make them into amazing projections. From day one. ❤️
Next time we head out there we’re gonna have to do this again
Wow. I remember the restaurant looking more impressive than thus ride. I appreciate the effort ✨️
I didn't realize that they updated it. Now I need to make a trip back to Galveston.
I think they should reduce the ambient lighting by like 25% and ditch some of the silly animations, BUT the ride does look great with a lot of care put into it.
Well, clearly, this ride has been upgraded since the last time I was there
いつも世界のアトラクションを見せてくれて、ありがとう。
私は貴方のおかげで海の向こうにいつか行ってみたいと思える。
That’s exactly what he ordered at the cafe with extra fries
Definitely an improvement over any of their food.
I do like the “Eye of Mara” moment
Why is this so good?
There used to be more Rainforest Cafe restaurants but they are overpriced and have mediocre food. And I don't know about other locations, but the Rainforest Cafe that was in the mall near me, The animatronics were never fixed and looked after, so everything just stopped working eventually which sucked because it was cool to see them all move. I especially loved when the storm would come and the lights would dim and it would rain, lighting flashing and creatures making noises.
So 1 million dollars for projection mapping and 0 pennies for animatronics
Yes
Or the rest of the needed ground and ceiling decoration's/camouflage!!??!!
And poorly mapped at that too! Hits the seats 😂😂
Love it! Rainforest Cafe always reminds me of my childhood!
6:04 If that motion detection turning off the waterfall ever fails, riders are gonna be /livid/ 😂😂😂
there's a ride at canobie lake park that has the same thing and i always feel like it's gonna malfunction and im gonna get soaked 😭
About what I would expect from a RFC. That ceiling tho. 😬
Gotta love the weird rides on this site!
Finally, i can not only hear the elephant, but also see it clearly. 😂
I think little ones would love this, they don't care.
Looks peaceful
oh yes ive worked here. Galveston Texas in 2013!
Creative use of the resources they had. The projection effects give a lot more motion for a lot less cost and maintenance than trying to physically create even half of that. Good job, guys! I'd love to ride this.
Was really hoping for a spookier burial chamber scene towards the end, but I guess it’s for families.
That’s a very nice touch - enhances the whole experience.
I've never seen animatronics scream 'please help me get out of here' before like that.
Nailed it
🤣😭😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣 pls come help me off the floor
At 0:54 a parrot flies in on the screen then 1:04 it just randomly disappears 🤣
So cheap 😂😂😂😂
This Rainforest Cafe Ride looks very impressive
"This Rainforest Cafe ride looks too intense."
@@jonny-b4954 it doesn’t look that intense at all
The vulture sounds at 5:02 stayed thats all matters!!! If you know you know!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Man why did they use the river rapids design if they’re not any rapids could’ve made it into a boat ride shape
Even to why I love rainforest cafe, chuckiecheezes and reasons to keep ‘em running even at the malls they are at even from Boston to Las Vegas to Chicago, etc
As disney quits maintaining their crap and letting all the animatronics and effects stay broken. This ride might actually surpass a disney ride in a few years.
That’s so cool ride
Nice 👌
This is 🔥🔥🔥😮💨
This is so cool! Love the Rainforest Cafe 😁
Reminds me of the old Piraten in Batavia
That’s so cool
That first area kinda feels like someone found out about projection mapping like a week ago, and just threw a ton of projections into the mix to spice things up, but without really understanding how to use them in an organic and integrated way. Cool ride, otherwise!
The animatronics look cool
Hear me out...you have to ride this to get to your table loll
Its actually.....not bad. I like it. Darn shame its only in Galveston.
Great upgrade! How many times can you spot Cha-Cha, Ozzie, Rio, Nile, Tuki, Bamba, Iggy and Maya hidden throughout the ride?
In the netherlands we have fata morgana (park: efteling) it opened in 1986. The animations of fata morgana are still better than this 2024 created ride. They could have done way more!
I’m surprised they didn’t do something like this for the Rainforest cafe in Disneyland Paris, it looks almost like this inside with all the animals coming to life every so often
The set looks very good for a restaurant ride, only the animatronics look weird but that’s okay
did they refurb this or did they just add projections
Tourist Trap, the ride. Run parents, run!
amazing theming
I want my money back and I wasn't even there. Like everything Rainforest Cafe, it was subpar for the price. I get that RC is supposed to cater to kids, but even I wasn't impressed with the restaurant when I was kid.
They should serve food on the ride 🤙
a slow rapids ride with no drops.
just like small world a slow boat ride at Disneyland with no drops.
I think it would have been extra cool if this took you to the actual restaurant part and there was a waitress dressed like they would be in the jungle to take you to your seat!
I agree with whoever said "no seatbelt?" 😅
Nice theming, wished it was a lot more of a soaker ride.
Sounds Like A Woolly Mammoth
It is a JUNGLE in there!
Where is this located? I'm curious.
The physical set was amazing. The projection ruined it
So do the wait staff swim to you?
It's funny how the projections just cut off at the square edges of the projector and they don't try to blend it in in any way
This is both so good and so horrible at the same time. It's so weird.
Request: Le Pays des Contes de Fees at Disneyland Paris
Hmmm... Kept waiting for it to transition to the ride normally associated with that mode of transport. No white water rapids... they should have kept that waterfall turned on at least. LOL
Still better than Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
여기가 카페라고요...? 웬만한 놀이공원보다 퀄리티가 좋은데요
Hopefully I didn’t miss but where is this ride located at
This would've been better if it was a flume ride instead
I thought the franchise wasn't doing well. This looks expensive to maintain. Is it inside a theme park?
Please Build A NEW Rainforest the Ride at Universal Studio in Los Angela and Universal Studio Orlando 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
The Lights is too bright you can see the projectors at the the ceiling.
Well they spent a lot of money on it. Like reader below noted the ambience would have been better served with some silence punctuated by localized animal sounds instead of the audio overload with the perpetual elephant braying. Better to have fewer, better articulated figures than limited-motion animals stacked side-by-side like cordwood; IRL they would have eaten each other. And enough with the overused tacky projectors, just use orange lights for dusk and maybe project some slowly-moving clouds. Old school Disney imagineers could have made this E-ticket with that budget.
And why didn't you want to look at the waterfall???
I’ve been on this ride before
