    The problem is the switch up out of no where. If the character is queer from the jump then it’s understood. You’re introduced to the character in the beginning of show and come to know them after multiple seasons. It’s almost like the writers run of of ideas after 100 episodes.

    I think the reason some people have a problem with buck being bi-curious is because it came out of left field too suddenly like there wasn't any clues or build up to it, it just feels like another tacky soap drama sub-plot for more views. Can’t believe there still exists people who will stop watching a show they enjoy because of a characters evolution. I bet they wouldn’t stop watching if Buck was suddenly found to be a serial killer (like Jonah), or if someone discovered he was selling drugs to kids. It’s bigotry in its purest form. Better off without them. I love Buck’s character, always have. And this development makes me love him more. Whoever he ends up with, he deserves to be happy.

      @@GailLambMS.S that’s the thing. It’s not being “shoved down ur throat” just cuz queer characters are in shows doesn’t mean they’re tryna shove it down ur throat. That’s exactly the problem. 1 gay person is ok 2 is pushing it a bit 3 or more then all hell breaks lose. Like do y’all see the ignorance in that? Right when straight cis white people stop being the center of attention and the majority, when any other demographic or minority is represented it now feels like it’s being “shoved down ur throat” y’all don’t see what’s wrong with that?
      Characters can’t even discover new facets of their identity cuz people wanna politicize queer identities so much they see it as “pushing an agenda” or “shoving it down our throats” Or because “Buck was such a ladies man, for the girls” so wrapped up in your own fantasy and perception of the character anything out side of that you refuse to make sense of or even acknowledge your own bias. It’s only okay if you know from the beginning the character is queer. But god forbid another character who was presumed “straight” goes on journey and discovers apart of himself “nah nah yall shoving it down our throats” like what? How do you not see what’s wrong with that?

      @mark99k 16 дней назад

      @@GailLambMS.S Oh cmon. It's not being "shoved down your throat" (an image that's raised so often it's almost comical). It's just a depiction of reality. Gay people are everywhere, in every profession. It's only recently that TV has started acknowledging that. It's almost never graphic -- very rarely do we even see gay characters in bed, unlike straight ones. If merely being reminded that gay people exist is traumatic for you, I don't think you can be helped.

    Its not about being gay or bi or straight. Because they already have this in both 911s..to me its not even that its Buck..but its they want it to be Buck and Eddy. And to me that sucks because of their friendship and bucks relationship with Eddy's son. Now if they do get together and break up as all tv shows do then there goes the best Bro friendship on TV. Eddy can be his support and not his lover..now that would be great to watch.

      I’m sorry, but I totally agree with what you’re saying! because I’m not being funny there’s been no lead up to buck storyline/buck’s character development, having an interest in Man. It feels like the writers have just said he is now bisexual. I’ve watched this series from the very start and in no means did the writers ever show us as an audience that buck was bisexual. it feels like they’ve just thrown it at us and it’s a shock to us as viewer, we’ve never seen his character developed to a point where he had an interest in liking men. As I’m a strong supporter of the show. I don’t think the audience was saying he can’t be bisexual. It’s just a shock that they’ve changed his character to now being bisexual. And I believe what there planning next on to do with his character is, he will start catching feelings for his best friend Eddy which is going to mess up their friendship making it not being appealing to watch as a viewer to see these turn of events

It does happen for people to come out later in life, not because they didn’t want to, but because it’s just not something they knew about themselves. @nylalyris 23 дня назад +3

      Honestly I think it’s very surprising that some people didn’t see it it coming. I definitely don’t think it was forced just like how Oliver talked about a lot of young men confused or struggling with their attraction to men are like Buck. They are womanizers, can’t keep a relationship with women etc.. not all the time but it’s definitely the case at times and Buck showed that. Oliver talked about how he knew Buck was bi since the early seasons and the writers of the show did too. I think this is the thing that’s been weighing on Buck. Like he’s been searching for something and that something was figuring out he was also into men. I honestly find it really problematic that there can’t be characters that aren’t out in the beginning but overtime figure out their queer without people thinking there’s some “agenda” to be pushed. As if this doesn’t happen in everyday life. And 9-1-1 is literally about the everyday life of first responders along with some drama etc.. Especially since Buck is an attractive man and all the straight women love to fangirl on him now him coming out as bi ruined it for them. I think it’s just a lot of internalized bipobia with a lot of the people complaining about this and not realizing that its okay to discover things about urself like Buck did 😭

I’ve watched this show since the beginning. Along with the other 911 spin-off. I love the show, love all of the characters. Obviously gay characters don’t bother me lol I am gay - what bothers me - is this specific character coming out as gay, bi whatever - seems inauthentic. It just does NOT go with his character at all - he’s a ladies man, a womanizer. It really didn’t fit the story at all - and seemed to be a desperate attempt to appeal to the gays who have been wanting a Buck/Eddie gay storyline, etc. so again it has nothing to do with gay - I love gay stuff - it just doesn’t fit this character that’s the problem

    • @minako10
      @minako10 27 дней назад +28

      Perhaps it seems 'inauthentic' to you because you are not bisexual and therefore can't relate to Buck's journey. Being bi and more or less around Buck's age, I can assure you that his journey is FAR more common that it may seem and so far has been portrayed very accurately and taking into account that there have been clues about Buck's sexuality from minute one, there is nothing desperate about this character development, it fits like a globe. Sexuality is far from being black and white and people discover/embrace new facets of their sexuality at later stages in life all the time regardless of who their past or current partners were/are. Don't believe me? Just ask known 'ladies men' and 'womanisers" such Marlon Brando, Cary Grant or James Dean.

If anything it fits perfectly with his character and his storyline just like how Oliver said a lot of men who are confused about their attraction to men sometimes go on a spree of being womanizers, can’t keep committed relationships with women etc.. I’ve actually known many masc bisexual men who have had similar if not the same experiences. Bucks bisexuality and his character in general is doing a perfect job of show casting that and tbh I couldn’t think of a better way of his character to evolve like this it makes so much sense. @@minako10yeah 100% what you said. Bucks bisexual awakening fits so fucking well. And aligns with a lot of bi men’s experience in real life

    It’s burning me out. We get it people in the world are all different, but this show is getting out of control with the gay people.

      Why tho lol. Why does it matter if there’s a lot of queer people?

    Nah .... enough is enough. It's a story that didnt need to be told. EVERY fkn show has 1-2 gay people/couples now??? It wont last more than another season.

      For a program to represent society correctly queer characters are needed and a realistic representation of life. It is California.

      Won't last more than another season 😂 buddy the show's had a main lesbian character who's married to a woman for the past SEVEN seasons I don't think they'll get cancelled suddenly for including another gay character

    The Herd of BI-SON grows! Sorry about the pun but I literally have a tattoo of a bison in Bi colors so I had to go for it, LMAO. I am hyped AF for this development. Bi Representation isn't usually handled very well (Grey's Anatomy, anyone? And countless other pieces of Media over the years...) but from what I've seen from my mutuals on Tumblr/Twitter, this character development is not only being explored properly but it was set in motion ages ago. That's good writing and I'm just happy. Anyone who has a Problem can stay mad before finding another show to watch. Art imitates Life. 🩷💜💙🦬
