Honestly I really wish Guardian Signs could’ve been a gen 5 game instead of a second gen 4 ranger game as I love the game so much and it’s my favorite in the series and I would’ve loved to have been able to Capture gen 5 Pokémon and have gen 5 bosses
This is THE best Ranger game. I’ve been replaying it recently, and especially digging into the multiplayer mode. It holds up, and the soundtrack especially is FANTASTIC. Pincher Admin and Riding on a Legendary Beast are two of my favorite songs in the entire Pokémon franchise. I need to finish my replay soon so, so badly. God tier game, probably my favorite spin off other than Poképark 2 ever. Genuinely god tier game.
What if I told you some of the same people that worked on the Ranger trilogy also worked on PokéPark? Heck, Wonders Beyond was straight-up directed by the same person who directed Shadows of Almia.
This might just be my absolute favorite Pokemon game... Or at least the one I have the fondest memories of... I spent countless hours beating the co-op mode as a single player, because I didn´t know anyone who had the game... To this day, just hopping on to one of the legendary Pokemon and going for a stroll is one of the coolest things ever and just relaxing and I always had fun with the capture system, even going so far as to capture almost every single Pokemon with S-Rank (but I absolutely hate the chase missions under water!)
I'm glad that someone finally acknowledged this game as the final Gen 4 game/Gen 4's swansong. And boy did it really ramp of the stakes not just in the ranger series but the stakes of most pokemon games up to that point excluding what Mystery Dungeon 2 dipped its toes in.
Guardian Signs is a Deoxys distribution cartridge with a game attached to it. I love that. And I had no problems downloading the missions via DNS exploit.
I gotta get this game again. It has a great story, mechanics & its use of time travel makes it one of the most unique games I’ve ever seen. I really wish it had been released in gen 5, though. That way it could be more different from the last game in the franchise.
I think that while yes, in someways this game doesn’t hold up to the second one, I still think this game is amazing. Honestly maybe even a little underrated. The atmosphere and underline story beats have this unexplainable charm that I think is unique to this game. Also great vid dude. I would love to see a colosseum video, but I also think that a Pokémon conquest video would be really cool! Great job covering this series RC and can’t wait to see what you cover next!
I left a smaller comment on the OG Ranger video you made, but only the most in-depth comments could do the influence this game has had on me any sense of justice. *Edit:* The floodgates opened in 2020, and after doing a ton of research on this game, I’ve found that sales figures may not have actually been why this series died out. 2023 will be a huge shift for Pokémon spin-offs- and once a certain other game comes out, there’s nothing stopping a return for the future.
@@alicevioleta3184 Wouldn’t that technically be a good thing for the future of spin-offs though if he’s no longer in that position? Or at least for the parts Game Freak has total control over. Most of this other complicated stuff is because of Nintendo and/or TPCi. And then there’s Creatures, and to be honest I have no idea what they’re doing anymore.
As much as I would *love* to see you tackle the Colosseum/XD games (they are a personal favorite of mine), I have to suggest talking about Hey You Pikachu/Pokémon Channel… that or the Stadium/Battle Revolution games. (P.S. love your videos! Great job on this trio and the MD quartet! Glad to hear someone giving these games a signal boost)
It really sucks how wifi events really limited what future players can access in a game. At least Mystery Dungeon and Conquest have a work around in that pretty much all events have distribution codes that you can use to access mons and events.
This game is my favorite of the trio because I feel like the weaving of the past and present together is done really well and in a compelling way. I _really_ enjoy the uncovering of Oblivia's past. It's to the point where I've literally written an entire novella's worth (~30,000 words) of worldbuilding for ancient Oblivia. I used stuff from the Past Missions to get whatever information possible. I've even made an entire language for ancient Oblivia. I think the reason it's my favorite is because it's generally the smoothest ride of the games. Ranger 1 was rough around the edges and some of the bosses were absolutely _infuriating_ (looking at you, Steelix and Charizard) while Shadows of Almia had some really frustrating difficulty spikes (looking at you, Rampados).
Great review, I think I agree with your thoughts on it a lot. I also must say that I really hope Ranger games come back one day. I played them all and they are my favorite spinoffs in the series.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your analysis about some of my favorite games! You genuinly seem like a really nice guy, keep up with the great content!
2 years maybe more old, but I'm gonna post something fun. You said in the video that when drawing signs, if you're *roughly* careful with the symbol, you will succeed. That's true. There's 2 mon symbols that are similar: Articuno and Typlosion. I used to draw Articuno's symbol to sideways trigger Typlosion's sign. Very funny how this worked
Sky in ORAS was weak compared to GS Also, that stantler ride is neat and all, but ENTEI, SUICUNE AND RAIKOU (also screw that fish, Suicune pulls a jesus and runs on water)
The second game was the first video game I ever played. I just finished another play through last month. I also for some reason have 3 copies of the game
Loved this series on Pokémon rangers, although not my fav one (explorers of sky for me) a close second is xd gale of darkness so if you do one on colosseum I’d watch and love it 🌬💙
So this was my first and only ranger game until now that i homebreweed the others But i loved it so much and Ukulele Pichu is the best Wish i had a plushy
I honestly really hated how they changed poke assists because if you dont place some mons pixel perfect you can end up just wasting it entitely or them getting hit before they can even break the anger bar a tiny bit. Ukelele pichu was OP as heck but adorable so I can let it get away with it. The characters on your side were very cool and fun! So were Blue Eyes and Red Eyes. Purple and rhe societea were kinda lackluster though. Riding the legendary beasts was always amazing, made you really feel like an awesome hero. And other than the opening a lot of the conflcits with the pinchers were pretty intense and gripping. A hostage exchange? Trying to escape a sinking submarine? In my Pokemon game?? Holy shit

nah cuz imagine riding on zekrom or reshiram

it's so good. i wish i had friends to do missions with.

@@bdt2002gaming I had no idea. Neat.
I still vastly prefer Shadows of Almia 💜💜💜
Hecc, I relatively recently made a video of opening a brand new, sealed copy of the game from 2008 lol
Guardian Signs > Shadows of Almia@@asuuki2048
Legends Arceus seems to borrow several ideas from side games:
Ride Pokémon->Ranger
Explorable areas->PokePark

I’m so glad to have found some Pokémon Ranger content. Gonna binge watch all three videos you have on the ranger series.

Yes!! So good to watch another pokemon ranger appreciation video!!💜

good point about sales not being the only reason. a certain someone who is no longer creative director at GameFreak didn't seem fond of spinoffs.

these three ranger reviews have definitely earned you a sub. super happy to see coverage of some of my fav games.

As I was watching I also thought a modern ranger would play like PLA and I’m glad to hear more people agree!
Merci d'avoir parler de mon premier jeux pokémon avec ses défauts et ses qualités ❤
The second game was the first video game I ever played. I just finished another play through last month. I also for some reason have 3 copies of the game
"third and FINAL" literally screaming crying, feel like pure sh*t just want her back...

Such a fantastic game.
I think we need a video on Pokémon conquest next
I have that game it was my fist pokemon gamae and I have too
Nice! My first was Crystal. I sadly lost the cartridge when I was 10.
Man why is this guy so cute and nerdy 😍
I dunno why I didnt subbed to you until now
Arceus and Ranger? I compare it more to Mystery Dungeon Explorers bc of the amnesia bit tbh lol
I believe your title is misspelled. Did you mean to say generation?
Good catch! Thank you!
@@RetroAndChill no problem!
This comment fits perfectly with your pfp lol!
Do Pokémon rumble
I might actually have the OG Wii Ware version on my Wii U.
