Actually, the wifi missions are obtainable on a DS nowadays! All you need to do is go into the wifi settings in the title menu and set up an open wifi connection or phone hotspot and put in a specific combination of DNS. It might take a few tries but it worked perfectly for me. You can also use this trick for long gone wifi events in the mainline pokemon DS games.
Okay, that's actually really good to know. I'm pinning this. And I'll make note of that in my Guardian Signs video. Are there any good detailed instructions on how to do it that I can link in the description of that?
Ranger Shadows of almia is honestly a fantastic game. Whenever i see people talking about the almost forgotten ranger series online, almia is always the one that gets mentioned.
Also interesting to note that one of the teachers from the ranger school was essentially there to scout and groom the brightest student of his generation into working for the evil team. Using his naïvety to their advantage to use his genius for their own ends. So naïve that he didn’t even realize he was working for the bad guys until we storm the tower. It’s sickeningly similar to real life.
First Pokemon Ranger game that I played and Gen 4 always has a special place in my heart. Being in elementary school when it came out, I could very much relate to the school aspect. It remains probably one of the Pokemon games I ever talk or think about the least but it also remains nevertheless one of the few foundational ones that has meant a lot to me. Pretty much along with any Pokemon game I played before Black and White lol
Shadows of Almia was my favourite game when I was in Year 3-4 in Primary School and to this day I have such fond memories of it. It's interesting to hear how much the story and mechanics developed from the first game, which I never played. I still maintain that the story of SoA is such a tight, satisfying example of escalation that perfectly sets up the newbie protagonist being the one to save the day. That's helped by the endearing and active side cast! I love your additional reflection and commentary with facts about the game I never knew when I first played it.
This game made me go from not liking/caring about Pokemon to loving it. I will defend this game to the core. The sprites are better, the story is phenomenal, and don’t get me started on the music. All the games win in certain ways versus the others but this game and Sinnoh are GOATED
This was the first game I got when I got my DS Lite. I don’t remember much about the story since I played it when I was young but I do remember how fun it was. Really want there to be another Pokémon ranger game but it’s gonna be weird trying to adapt it’s mechanics into the Switch.
Time to give you that watch time. I wish I could play this again on that Nintendo DS sd-card I used in the past. Really nostalgic and engaging back when my childhood-self took on this game for the first time. Hope this game is not too rare, or expensive.
Amazing video RC. This is definitely a game I hold close to my heart, and I do agree it overshadows the first one in every way! I’ve at least beat this game a handful of times at least at this point, and I do think it’s worth playing if your a Pokémon fan. As RC said on the video, the lore is amazing and the ranger world is built up so much in this that by the end you will know almost everything you would need to about the ranger universe. One thing I am surprised about is the fact that RC didn’t bring up the great and down right hilarious writing in this game. I honestly think that team dim sun is the best bad organization in the entirety of Pokémon. Their banter alone confirms this for me. And no matter how many times I play this, it always seems to end up making me laugh. Great game, would recommend, great video RC, and omg I can’t wait for the guardian signs ep. The idea makes me want to go back and play guardian signs on Wii U lol. Absolutely fire content RC!
Guardian Signs on Wii U seems like it has the potential to be quite interesting. Cause you’re not going to have to do the entire past mode solo, which is really hard iirc
The website for pokemon ranger let you capture the partner pokemon with your mouse! a few would walk around each webpage (story, characters etc) and you could catch them all! It was so fun as a kid
I came looking for reviews for this game cuz i just got the first one again and i wanted to see if my memories of the second hold up and i come across an underrated channel. Definitely check out your other video essays after this
Pokemon Rangers: Shadow of Almia is one of top 5 favorite games of all time. The game design is honestly superb, it's well thought out and just hard enough for adult players. I also love that Team Dim Sun is littered with jokes and call backs. The part where they give up fighting you and just push you out the door is such a good call back to main pokemon games where you beat the bad guy and you can move forward. I also love that you really know each and every character and their personality. I really enjoyed watching your video and I'm upset I didn't watch it sooner.
the first ranger game is my childhood and ive been scared of jumping into the sequels bc i didnt know if theyd be good or not... watching your video makes me feel like a kid watching a brand new game commercial that makes me want to just grab the product out of the screen
This game was my very first Pokémon game. My mom mistakenly bought me this for Christmas when I was seven or eight even though I wanted Pokémon diamond. I’m so glad she did though, it’s an awesome game that I love to this day.
Absolutely great video. There needs to be more Pokémon Ranger content out there. Truth be told, I’m not sure if this is my favorite. A long time ago, I got both Almia and Guardians for Christmas one year. I couldn’t beat them for ages, especially Almia if memory serves, but I came back to them later on and adored both. My only issue though is that I played them in reverse order, so each game was basically stripping down the QOL until I eventually tracked down the first game last year. I started it, played the first hour, and came to the conclusion of “wow, this sucks compared to the second and third games”. Currently replaying Guardians on a nonstalgia-fueled Pokémon spin-off revisit train, actually. I’m still not sure which I like better, but I’m leaning a bit more on Guardians right now. It really depends on the weekday, honestly. Once again, terrific video. Now I just need to watch your video in the first one, check out some of your other videos, and hope for a Guardian Signs video to hit my sub box sometime soon-ish.
I'm fairly disenfranchised with Pokemon these days, Nintendo has pretty much rereleased the same game for 20 years and it only gets more egregious as time goes on. But the spin off games certainly hold a special place in my heart. Whether it's mystery dungeons explorers of sky being the best story in the franchise, conquest for making me actually have to strategize while playing, or ranger for being such a fun adventure to embark on. These are some of my favorite games ever and I wish Nintendo would do more spin offs, even if they don't make as much money.
They need to take the writers from this game and explorers of sky to team up and make a main series game they Cleary know game structure and story telling better ( ik game freak works on almost all pokemon games but it's different people then who make say diamond pearl ruby sapphire etc )
I would use more game footage in the future. It’s easier to understand the point you’re trying to make when someone can see an example that proves your point. Not that that doesn’t happen at all in this video, but I think having more instances of this technique would make for a more engaging video
I think he used the perfect amount of gamefootage. I like when he switched between gamefootage and himself bc it keeps me engaged and want to listen to what he has to say.

you are an angel, thank you a lot for this piece of information.
Awesome! Thank you for this information 🙂

If you’re one of the 3 people who owns a Wii U, you can get it super easily

@@RetroAndChill yeah might as well call it borderline impossible.
@@acecondor5716 I tried it solo and got stuck about halfway through

My favorite game in the series when it comes to story. I love this whole section of the franchise and I hope we get another sequel one day.

Now to remember where I was on this before it was fixed...
Why not start from the beginning and give me more watch time? 🥺😂

In the post game content u can find Brighton still alive, and he can turn back time and all if u climb the tall lower after the endgame

This is the one spin off series I haven't played. Really need to get my hands on it!
I really like your videos ❤️
No matter how good this game may be, I cannot justify doing this to my DS's touchscreen
shadows of almias story is surprisingly dark when u really think about it
They need to take the writers from this game and explorers of sky to team up and make a main series game they Cleary know game structure and story telling better ( ik game freak works on almost all pokemon games but it's different people then who make say diamond pearl ruby sapphire etc )
Story wise, this game is the best Pokémon game ever IMO. It’s just so good and I actually felt immersed in the world and story.
I own all three but this is my first one and absolutely love them
till today the music and especially the almia castle theme are still hitting me different
I also don’t remember how exactly I got it I just know I lived the first game and this one was even better
I'm amazed they haven't released a Ranger Collection for mobile yet. Touch controlls seem like a given!
Hate the start being tío slow until you get to the ice area them it gets super cool super fast
man, i love your ranger uniform. where'd you get it?
I got it off of EZ Cosplay
yeh i dont mind rewatching

I like when he switched between gamefootage and himself bc it keeps me engaged and want to listen to what he has to say.
I've played this game at least three times and I'm just now learning I was supposed to throw the rock assists at the Pokemon. 🤦
20:50 so how was spiritomb?
Any thoughts on Mortis Chronicles? Wondered if you would enjoy it! (It's a new game on Kickstarter)
No because this is the first I’ve heard of it
7:53 I did this with a magnaton I held for atleast half the game 😂
By far the best Pokemon game on the DS
I want to say this is the first game I 100%
Nice
