Deke, I'm surprised by your reaction because you've been pulling for KP blindly. Let's keep it real, Kenny Pickett could not read zone defenses and had to always throw the ball to the check down receivers. KP also could not throw the ball deep which was going to be a problem for a receiver like George Pickens. The only time Kenny looked good was in man coverage when the Steelers were in hurry up offense mode. He's just not starting material in the NFL at this time and it's good that the Steelers got what they did for him . More importantly, you've proved yourself as a loyal Steeler fan so I give you props for that Deke 👍🏽❗ My question at this time is What are the projections for the Steelers on draft night? Will they consider Justin Fields now or will they settle on Ryan Tannerhill to be QB2? Lots of questions to be answered for the Steelers but moving forward, this was a good move to clear out any confusion that may get started in the locker room, HERE WE GO‼️🤟🏽😎🏈

It wasn't KP not wanting to compete. He was told that RW was the starter and this made him mad enough to go where there was no chance for him being a starter.
He wasn't going to be the starter here either. I'm sure Wilson was told he's the QB or else he wouldn't have signed. Pickett at least greatly increased his chances of getting a Super Bowl ring.
I have yet to see the evidence of that.

Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have made some serious moves this offseason to be competitive. I don't want to hear any BS this season that Coach T hasn't tried to make this team better because he clearly has. Every single player that came in said they wanted to play for Coach T, not the Steelers necessarily, but the man himself. I'm giving them a A- so far in free agency. We still have some needs but they have made some damn good moves.
But did he ? I personally think he got a qb he doesn't have to develop because he doesn't know how to develop an offense let alone a qb
@@balayagesalon One of the silliest things I've read all day. Tomlin is a prior Defensive Coordinator, therefore he is a defensive coach. He does not develop QBs, he never has. He came into Pittsburgh with a HOF QB already there. Yes, it is his job to hire the right guy to develop QBs which is the QB Coach or the Offensive Coordinator (Matt Canada which he fired). But if you are a defensive coach and you become a Head Coach, your expertise still lie with the defense, and Pittsburghs defensive is always good.
I hope this one year deal with Rusty doesn't screw the team for years to come at QB. It takes 3 to 4 years to develop.

Picket was more of a story than a genuine first round talent (Pitt to Pittsburgh). Pickett has some good intangibles on the field, versus his off-field attitude of not wanting to compete. He is a good backup to Hurts if he's out for an extended period of time, but he is not a franchise starting QB that will take your team deep into the postseason. I regarded him as a mid-round talent who would be a good backup and a serviceable starter - nothing more.
I saw Pickett interviewed in a Florida hotel room on this YT video and he came across as a great kid. But after last year? He just put a ceiling on his career.

Great take, Deke. Pickett can blame whatever he wants. The coordinator, the situation, injuries, whatever. He was allowed to play well. He was allowed to make throws. He couldn’t do it. He played like shit. If he was good enough, he would have played well, regardless of the situation. If I would have watched him go 3 and out one more time, I was gonna lose my mind. Same reason the defensive captains recruited Wilson. They couldn’t take it anymore either.

I think losing one of the qbs was ok but losing both is a bad thing.
This really shows that Kenny's ego was bruised after Masons' performance the final games of the season which included the playoffs and he had to watch. Kenny has no one to blame but himself for how he performed. Granted Matt Canada as OC did not help but Kenny simply could not read NFL Zone defense coverages and could not get the ball out of his small hands quick enough due to his weak arm. Kenny might have the heart like "Rudy" (movie ref) but doesn't have the skill to be a starter at this time... ✌🏽😎🏈
