Pickett is a coward the way he left. He literally left and did not say a word to people who stuck up for him who were fans of this team. In Pittsburgh he always had a chance to get the job back because they drafted him. These other teams see him as a backup. He messed up. Vanity gets you nowhere.

This is the biggest shock I've seen in the free agency so far. I thought they'd at least keep him as a backup but ig he wanted out. Whatever, he aint starting anywhere else either so idk why but now we also have the option to draft a QB in round 1 and have him sit under Russ for a season or 2 and get actually properly introduced in the NFL.

Picket was more of a story than a genuine first round talent (Pitt to Pittsburgh). Pickett has some good intangibles on the field, versus his off-field attitude of not wanting to compete. He is a good backup to Hurts if he's out for an extended period of time, but he is not a franchise starting QB that will take your team deep into the postseason. I regarded him as a mid-round talent who would be a good backup and a serviceable starter - nothing more.
I saw Pickett interviewed in a Florida hotel room on this YT video and he came across as a great kid. But after last year? He just put a ceiling on his career.
I am not familiar with Kirk Morrison....but the dude is freaking smart! Man, he is in touch with levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of NFL workings.

Everybody: the Steelers, the city of Pittsburgh, TJ, Brock, all those folks, except Rich, KNEW Russell Wilson was going to be the starter in Pittsburgh and Pickett would be in limbo. But Rich kept chewing on that Pickett bone for some odd reason. Let it go, Rich. We told you so.
It's because Rich was advocating for actual roster management and not wasting a 1st round pick by using the guy as a scapegoat. Steelers issues were with a bad OC and every QB on their roster played better once he was fired. Not even a full offseason later they are pushing their young QB out by bringing in a washed up dramatic veteran who has known ego issues.
It better work out or they'll be the laughing stock of the league.

- if they cleared their QB room completely, brought in Russ for a cheap, one year deal, of COURSE they can (and probably should) get Fields before his 5th year and only having to option it so they have him for 2 years before deciding to keep and pay him.
