Park rangers are advising hikers and campers in national parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter.
They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance, so they won’t be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them, which might cause a bear to charge.
Visitors are told they should also carry a pepper spray can just in case they encounter a bear. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear’s sensitive nose and it will run away.
It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear droppings so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognise the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat.
Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.

If you meet a bear just distract it by feeding it the couple who believes fracking realises evil spirits!

You might be wise to try and procure another spare wheel and tire that will fit the van. You should buy the best tire patch kit you can find, the roads can be brutal on tires. It’s kind of a shame you’re on this big trans earth trip, y’all could easily spend a lot more time in Canada and the US. Thanks for the video!

👋oh I grew up in Wisconsin and the mosquitoes are as big as hummingbirds their I believe😳. Wear white as it reflects heat, they are drawn to dark colors ie black brown they gravitate towards heat, we ate garlic a lot and we hung a downy dryer sheet out of our pocket, it really helped. Just thought I'd let you know 🙂

I know the both of you are obsessed with the Bear problem. Let me help you out, if by chance you are on a trail and see fresh Scat you can easily tell if it's a Black Bear or a Grizzly Scat. The Grizzly Bear Scat will about always have Bear Bells mixed in the Grizzly Scat. The Black Bear Scat will not have any Bear Bells at all. ( I hope this advice will make taking hikes much easier ).
