Also, a small hacksaw like that (with small teeth) is handy if you need to cut metal. Let’s say, for example, you want to make fishing lures from a tin can.

Another good video Eric. I have never liked the cord grenade style kits and the first five minutes of the video confirms why. The kit you built up at the end was awesome. Really impressed that it all fitted in the tin. Congratulations on the steady build up of subscribers, well deserved.

Found your site the other day and enjoying it quite a bit. I've also gotten ideas on what to put in and not put into my own kit. Thanks. Just thinking that the clips to make a bracelet aren't redundant. You could use the cordage you have to make a bracelet as a part to hold onto the cordage.

So on that lil blue hack saw blade if one side of it has a burr it will make a great ferro rod striker. Is there some where you can buy those red tins you used or is that from something else you cannibalized, also have you thought bout putting the whistle on the outside in case you need it so you don't have to unpack the whole kit?

Enjoyed the vid. I have to comment on the credit card knife, i purchased 1 several yrs sgo and I've carried it in my Mapedition wallet ever since. It's def not my go to knife as i edc several knives rotating them every several weeks. I have forgotten its even in my wallet. I've been to court and I've traveled out of state it's been along for the ride. You can't carry ur typical edc knife thru airport check points but the credit card has never been an issue, once again i do forget i have it because its so thin. The other comment is i believe that the short blue saw was a striker to the additional Ferro rod that was attached to the paracord. I've seen similar strikers and ferro rods in Harbor Freight. Thx again Subscribed!

if ya wrapped the paracord around the outside of the box . i think that would be an option . in my opinion , i would find a stone with an edge and throw that wire saw in a creek . due to the fact that after cutting a branch , a bit bigger than your thumb , the saw gets clogged and the energy it takes to cut that branch isnt worth the one branch that renders the saw useless .

  • @rickieharris6812

There is videos on how to make a monkey’s fist ball. My dad made some for sailing he would use a wooden ball that floats good and rope that floats as well to make his. In boating you use them to catch boat cleats or dock cleats to pull your boat to them. But you don’t want to catch one to the head. Now some people do put steel balls in small monkey’s fist as a self defense weapon ( that is illegal in most states) and use them as key chains. But I was thinking of getting one of those survival kits but never did because putting them back together is next to impossible and what if they lied about what is inside of them. And most pocket kits I stay away from except one I got it is the bear grylls basic kit I got it for $20 dollars years ago and still have it. The knife and ferro rod together is pretty much that a the time so why not. But pocket kits tools are too small most of the time to be use full.

Survival grenades, if made by oneself, seem like a useful idea, for keeping bits of paracord that aren't long enough to fit on a roll (nor, big enough to constitute a hank) . Y'know, while carrying odd ends of things. That being said, I'd still rather have a tin.

It’s almost as good as duct tape. If you have a cut, just put electrical tape on top of your band aid and it’s super waterproof.

I've seen those fero rod buckles before, most of the ones I've seen dont work at all, they seem to be fake. Two obvious issues are the time taken to open, and what to do with the contents after you've opened it, your clothes may be soaked so you can't just bung it in your pockets, probably loose stuff anyway doing that.
It's a nice idea, but not for me.
