This was such a lovely video. Really nice to see the photos of you with your nonna. Don't rush to do anything. With all the memories there are in that well kept house you should first enjoy it for yourself and your family. A few family get togethers, some weekends away etc. For that the house looks in great condition. Take your time to decide whether to renovate or sell.
Thank you for sharing this, Rino. I am so sorry for your loss. As you were walking toward the house, I found myself getting quite emotional. My grandmother died in the 1990s and I still miss her so much and have dreams about her and her house, which was sold after she died. I wish I could still go there and have her greet me at the door with a big smile and a hug. If I were you, I would just spend time visiting the house for a while until an answer appears to you. Don't rush into anything. Your relatives are very kind to make sure you are sharing in the family's past. Take care.
I'm a grandmother. I have 6 grandchildren. I really enjoyed the video! Thank you! My advice - Give yourself some time to process this. Don't act on emotion. I'm certain your grandmother would want you to do whatever will make you happiest!
That was so moving... brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories of your Nona - and your new property - with us. Give it time, you will find a use for this home.
Rino.. what a beautiful property.. your Nonna will be so happy knowing that you will fill her house again with love.. take your time to decide your final option.. I was emotional watching. thank you for sharing this video with us❤
Lovely gift from your Nonnie! Such precious memories for you to treasure and share with us. An AirB&B would be lovely and a great chance to share the house with others. Thank you for sharing this journey and your thoughts with us. I wish you the best on this new adventure!
Beautiful home! Renovate it and enjoy it for Nonna! The stories of your childhood you will tell your children will allow Nonna’s memory to remain through the next generations. Family is love, love is family…
What a wonderful story, thank you Rino. I think the renovation idea would be a benefit for many watchers of your channel, a chance to see design ideas and costs through a local’s perspective. It’s obvious you like sharing, renovating your Grandmothers home would make it so much more personal. Whatever you decide, I will continue to watch and enjoy.
Grazie mille! What a beautiful tribute to your grandmother! Thank you for sharing your memories of her and her home with us. Your idea of turning her house into a nice B&B is very good. She will be smiling from heaven that her tradition of cooking nice meals for family and sweets for the children will continue.
Your Grandmother seemed like a lovely lady and took care of the property 🏠 it has good energy. Your lucky to have inherited a beautiful home. Fix it up to your taste and keep it in the family. Enjoy it with your family. Airbnb is gonna mix the energy of the place, I would not suggest letting it out to other people but that’s a personal preference.
What a beautiful, emotional video. I hope you keep your Donna's house and enjoy it for youself. It's so kind of your cousin to help secure the home for you. Maybe you can rent it out as an Airbnb, and reserve it for your family for Christmas and summers. It's a real gift you've been given 😊
That was very moving, Rino! It's amazing to me that everyone in the family agreed on what would happen to the house. The house looks to be in good condition. I would think you could rent it as an Airbnb without doing much to it. Of course adding a bathroom would be nice but an added expense. Most of the Airbnbs we've stayed at give their place a name of sorts. Definitely name it after your nonna if you decide to go that route and keep a few family photos on the wall. Maybe have a guest information booklet that includes a short story about your memories of her.
This lovely house could be duet. B&B sometimes and your beloved home sometimes. Renovate it with those thoughts. Let the B&B support the renovation. Most of all, find peace there with your family. She would have loved that. And your lucky guests will have the gift of her hospitality and yours.
Sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace knowing that she’s in a better place now and watching over you. Now you have her house to relive the memories. She was so beautiful! Thank you for the video and sharing the pictures 😊
Congratulations of the house! So much sweet memories! i know. I’m in kind of the same situation here, but we are 2 sharing. My brother and I inherited our mothers- grandmothers (and five generations back- ) house in a little seaside town in Sweden. We needed some income of the house to run it year around, so we updated the upper floor and have rented it out mostly in summer by week, but also like now, the whole year around to 1 person. But we all have to share the big kitchen downstairs when we visit because there is no kitchen upstairs We both live in other towns so we visit in weekends, summer vacations and so on. But we know that when our children will inherit the house from us, they are divided, one would want it and two would sell it, and for a lot of money. We are much older than you and thinking should we sell now and get a lot of money or let the children have it. But then there are all the memories, and then thinking about that it's to heartbreaking 😢. What would you do? If you could, and would like to have the house stay with you - do some updates and rent some parts out. Then you, during time, could figure out what to do in long term. I hope you are physically near the house - so maybe you can run the business yourself and you don't need to hire someone to do it for you… Then your and your family can stay there when you could and would and you can both "eat the cake and still have it… " In time you will know…. Blessings from Sweden.
Wow! Thanks for sharing!! If I can give you my personal opinion I would probably sell the house and not leave the decision to your children. Even if they are in good relationship these things just cause tension, as hard as it can be if I were you I would decide for them. Being a parent you've done it multiple times, do it once again! When it comes to the house of my grandmother, I live around 35km from it so it's not too bad! I fill film the video for the quote and works and them see what do do with it!
Hi Rino what a beautiful gift your Nonna left you a house full of memories. My Sincerest condolences. Take your time in figuring things out. I think it would be great to see a renovation project and love the idea of turning it to an Air B&B with the cantina being a cozy dinner area. Good luck film the project and bring us along on your journey
How blessed to own a home that your grandmother lived it. The wonderful memories you have are what makes it real. Thank you for sharing a small piece of you life with us all. It's stories like your that makes people like us want to more to Italy.. Many blessing to you and your family.
I was very touched that you allowed us to come along on this reunion with your grandmother’s home. Thank you. Maybe I am old fashioned. I think that you should enjoy the house for at least one summer and think what you should do. Don’t rush into anything. I think that Airbnbs are the scourge of the planet. They raise property prices for the native people, allow visitors to come to a country and not integrate and are horrible for those who live near them. I can speak from experience as my family lived in Cornwall and North Yorkshire, UK, where they were prevalent. If you must rent it out, offer it to Italians first, or people who are coming to buy property in Italy. People who want to live in Italy on a full-time basis. We found one man who is offering such rentals, but he is American and changes way too much! 😅
A beautiful house, just enjoy it for a while. It looks in good condition, so if you do decide to renovate be sympathetic to its original , Italian charm.❤️
Rinoooo! Absolutely renovate it!! You know them geometras and stuff (Majella case come on). It's a really great house and if you going that way it would be great to see the progresses on your channel. And later you can do anything with it: B&B, rent, give it to me for free 😂. Also your nonna's pics are great. And I can see the resemblance with you big time ❤
Hi Rino - it's a fact of life that even happy memories will always make us emotional for times past - especially for the people we have loved and lost. Deciding the future of a house that has so many memories is a dilemma. Is making this house a commercial enterprise (e.g. AirBnB) a fitting tribute to your grandmother or is it better to sell it on as a home for another family to enjoy and make their own memories? You could always carry out some modernisations whichever path you follow. I am certain that you will make a decision that respects everything the house has meant to you and your family and which brings new life and happiness back again. Best regards as always.
Hi Steve, thanks for the usual thoughtful and well argued comment. Selling it would be too hard, I think it's something that would be difficult to accept even for my mother, I think I will try to so some sort of small airbnb, although I'm aware it's not the nicest house I could come up with a low price just to cover the expenses. Still unsure, big dilemma!
Thank you for sharing about these chapters of your life, Rino - looking back to the past and memories, from here and now. Feelings provoked for any watcher no doubt, related to their own memories of grandmothers and aunts who loved them, and the houses of those memories.❤
Lovely gift you have received from your Nonna ! Along with a gift like this comes lots of responsibilities ! Take your time then no regrets later !!!Just disappointed the captioning was disabled as your beautiful accent and my english Canadian ears just didn't work well together !! keep well Cherryl from Canada
Thank you for sharing. I would make downstairs an apartment ( AirBnB) and renovate upstairs for your family to enjoy holidays and summers. It will be fun to see what you do.
Seems like a nice place, not needing much work. Very sweet to see she had photos of you around. Do I remember you had a video for another property not long ago in the same area? I'm going to be visiting Abruzzo in about 10 days (taking one of Dave's tours). Maybe I'll bump into you along the way!
First my condolences on the passing of your grandmother she kept a beautiful home and a beautiful town Take your time on a decision what you will do actually the bottom floor where the basement kitchen is or summer kitchen would make a great Airbnb ?
What a beautiful home and the memories that you shared about your Nonna , these are good memories. I think you should do the work in the room downstairs first and you and your wife talk about what to do , either letting it out for family’s to rent for holiday or bed and breakfast shot stays Rino
Very sweet to share photos of your grandmother. I think you should take your time to decide. It's a bit of a time capsule where you need to go through what's left and gift sentimental items to family. I would clear out some of the furniture and bring in some new things and redecorate. Spend time there with your family. I don't think you need to make the bathroom upstairs into 2 bathrooms. If it has Air Bnb potential, that could be great in between using it yourself.
So many memories are a good thing, many people never knew their grandmothers. But, so many memories makes it difficult to change the visual connection to the memories. Everything you suggested to do with the house is a good idea. What about doing minimal repairs, remove all old furniture, making ground floor a sitting area (Americans do not get couch in kitchen thing) then selling it and moving forward with some cash for your future.
About the ground floor I was kind of thinking to make a room out of it, the rest of the house is pretty standard instead I could have something really peculiar downstairs if I turn it into a bedroom with a fireplace...
Beautiful video. I wouldn’t split up the house. I would keep the whole house as it is. It’s beautiful! If you Airbnb it, then use the whole house for bigger groups and keep it for when your family/relatives come to town too and they can stay as well.
I would give it a good clean out and see what you need and want to keep. That's the way I would go first then see what really needs to be done it's a nice old home .I would love to be left a home in Italy as my hubby wax born there. Take things slowly a That way you won't make mistakes and be sorry.good luck
It’s a lovely home. I don’t know if too much to be done with it. Needs a tidy up to give you a better idea. Where you walk in where your Nonna was cooking would need the most work I think. Like you said, a nice area for sitting for breakfast. And bathrooms could have a couple of changes to update but not overly if budget tight.
Well, hello to you, first , i wish i had something from my grandparent..so many Q. Now you should ask yourself what DO YOU want. Do you want your GM house for yourself ? Do you see yourself living there, do you have money enough to renovate, get an estimated renovation and see afterwards, do you live now in another home that you love that you love your environment there , you should sit with a huge blank paper and do pros and cons ..which ever you decide cherish the fact that you have connection to the past and by your life a connection to the future.
I say go for i!t Make it a dream retreat for you, your family and rental. The lower level has such great potential. I would knock the wall down from the cellar to the sitting area. Make it a fantastic kitchen with exposed ceiling, The side room would be the pantry and laundry room. The little sink by the fireplace would make an awesome bar or coffee bar. Swap the solid door into a glass door and wooden shutters to lock when you are not there. It will help solve the lack of light there. Upstairs, bring the charm back. Possibly get rid of the kitchen or reduce the size to a small kitchen and or use the plumbing for the bathroom if you choose to get rid of the upstairs kitchen, you can make that a beautiful master beedroom with it 's own gorgeous bathroom, You now have two other rooms you can change to bedrooms and bathroom or make into larger space for sitting, office. Upstairs bedrooms definitely make two bathrooms out of one. If possible try to make one on ensuite to one of the bedrroms. This may sound expensive but as a family home that would bring love and memories to future generations. It can also e a fantastic rental when you are not there.
I live in Canada, my father passed in 2021 and he had a house in Abruzzo as well that he inherited and now myself and my two brothers have to figure out what to do with it. Anyone want a house on the Adriatic coast in the town of Casal Bordino😂
A beautiful house, a great pity not to look after it and hand it down to your children, if you have any. If not still worth keeping it in your family, takes a long time to grow roots somewhere, you are lucky to have somewhere with good memories.
♥ Your reverence for your grandmother is palpable. Childhood memories of time with grandmothers is at the heart of our being. You did very well considering all of the factors. On a different emotional level, as a female, I find it unsettling that female's aren't initially included. For me, my inheritances were equally distributed. The need for gender equity seems more significant than I ever realized, as I cope with the attitudes about women within my own country; the USA.
Do you live nearby? Do you enjoy dealing with people? If not, forget the air Bnb idea. It would only be an aggravation and an expense. Do you normally spend your summers there? What does your wife think? If you are not going to spend at least your summers there, then there is no justification for keeping the house. Taxes, utilities and maintenance would be an ongoing cost that you will eventually tire of. I have been in your situation. Living permanently in the USA and my father in Italy. When he passed I took a lot of pictures and sold the house. He had done the same in the past with his grandparents' house which he did not need. Your memories are the most important thing. Your grandmother is alive in your heart, not within four walls. I would offer the house for sale to my relatives for a discounted price, and if there are no takers, I would sell it and get something that you can enjoy with your wife, and your kids if you have any. Your future is with them. If you decide to sell no renovations are necessary except painting the rooms on the ground floor. Empty the house as much as possible, especially of all personal things. Buyers are not interested in a museum. Get everything clean and uncluttered, smelling good. Let another family make their own memories. All the best to you!
@@OneStopAbruzzo thank you I'm looking considering buying a small house over there and was wondering what what town that was just for my own information
great-grandfather Donato Angelucci, in the United States Daniel Angelucci was born in the village of Lama dei Peligni in Abruzzo in the province of Chieti, most likely your grandfather Francesco di Pasquale was also born in the same village or in a nearby village, but for the moment you he just asked me to find out more about citizenship on your grandmother's side. Donato was born on 24 October 1872 married to Rosa Cocco. Lama dei Peligni is a beautiful village in the Maiella national park
You're a sensitive man, so nice to see. You have a beautiful wife. As for the investment, be careful of your emotional attachment. It can blind you to certain realities. AirBnB? Only you can say how valuable an AirBnB could be in Roccamorice. Are there enough tourists to make any investment worthwhile? The house seems like an old-fashioned, ordinary city-center home. To me, it doesn't have enough innate charm (no views, no city life) to market as an AirBnB. For instance, how would guests deal with parking a rental car? You could fix it up and try to market the area, but attracting new tourists won't be easy. You could fix it up and try to sell it, but how many potential buyers would there be? And could you recoup your investment? Considering what you endured to secure the property, letting it go without giving it some effort and investment would be a very painful decision. I'm a practical investor, so, unless I wanted to live in the place myself, I would not enjoy the decisions facing you. Thanks for sharing.
For Sixteen people to come together for this purpose.... shows a great amount of LOVE....
Im happy to see an Italian renovating for a change. You will help a lot of people

Great vid everyone remembers the time they spent with their Nona.
I'm a grandmother. I have 6 grandchildren. I really enjoyed the video! Thank you!
My advice - Give yourself some time to process this. Don't act on emotion.
I'm certain your grandmother would want you to do whatever will make you happiest!
thanks for taking the time to stop by, wow, 6 grandchildren!!! I imagine they keep you busy!

"leaving without smashing things" that made me laugh in a good way. I to have been there...
I was incredibly angry, not sure I conveyed the annoyance from the video XD
@@OneStopAbruzzo you did just fine in conveying it. It just humored me because I have been there.
Sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace knowing that she’s in a better place now and watching over you. Now you have her house to relive the memories. She was so beautiful! Thank you for the video and sharing the pictures 😊

It's a nice property. I like it.
thank you, lots to do though! :)
What a great gift
As i live un aistralia, we love renovating houses. DIY or do it yourself. Start slowly.
Thank you for sharing. I would make downstairs an apartment ( AirBnB) and renovate upstairs for your family to enjoy holidays and summers.

its a lovely space, i was thinking if you renovated the bottom rooms for a bnb or rent it out and keep the upstairs for yourself or bnb as well,

I would give it a good clean out and see what you need and want to keep. That's the way I would go first then see what really needs to be done it's a nice old home .I would love to be left a home in Italy as my hubby wax born there. Take things slowly a
That way you won't make mistakes and be sorry.good luck
Thank you!!!
Renovate, you have beautiful memories there, that's what I would do. ❤
Your nona will give you a sign😀
Well, hello to you, first , i wish i had something from my grandparent..so many Q. Now you should ask yourself what DO YOU want. Do you want your GM house for yourself ? Do you see yourself living there, do you have money enough to renovate, get an estimated renovation and see afterwards, do you live now in another home that you love that you love your environment there , you should sit with a huge blank paper and do pros and cons ..which ever you decide cherish the fact that you have connection to the past and by your life a connection to the future.
If, it close to the sea ,b& b would be good idea
Love to watch the progress of a renovation! Use as a B&B then you, family and friends can enjoy it too!
First stop is getting a quote from the construction company, see where I stand but that's definitely the plan!
i vote renovate
I live in Canada, my father passed in 2021 and he had a house in Abruzzo as well that he inherited and now myself and my two brothers have to figure out what to do with it. Anyone want a house on the Adriatic coast in the town of Casal Bordino😂
If you want to sell it you know who to contact ahahhaa. Jokes aside, hopefully you figure it out!
A beautiful house, a great pity not to look after it and hand it down to your children, if you have any. If not still worth keeping it in your family, takes a long time to grow roots somewhere, you are lucky to have somewhere with good memories.
Humidity...there is a lot of humidity in Italian homes. Hope he can do something about it.
Actually the house has never had any issues in the several year it was lived so hopefully it won't be too bad!
I wonder what you'll do with your place. Airbnb
You can Airbnb, you don’t need to cook for Airbnb. Put new furniture. You can have in summer, just airbnb rest of time
♥ Your reverence for your grandmother is palpable.
Hi Jackie! But actually that was the case, it was 3 female and 1 male and each got 25% of the property. Not sure if I got this right?
@@OneStopAbruzzo I apologize Reno... I thought you said three sons. 🙏
Maybe I did? Opssss
@@OneStopAbruzzo I deleted what I said. I'm happy that there was equity for your family.♥
Already at 7,000 euros...... sounds much the same as every other place it's the bread and butter for lawyers.
DO NOT REMOVE THE BIDET like they usually do!
Renovation and make it foe airbnb
Renovate the property. xx
Renovate please, but enjoy your home.
Did I hear you say or not what city that was
It's at the beginning! Roccamorice :)
@@OneStopAbruzzo thank you I'm looking considering buying a small house over there and was wondering what what town that was just for my own information
My
great-grandfather Donato Angelucci, in the United States Daniel Angelucci was born in the village of Lama dei Peligni in Abruzzo in the province of Chieti, most likely your grandfather Francesco di Pasquale was also born in the same village or in a nearby village, but for the moment you he just asked me to find out more about citizenship on your grandmother's side. Donato was born on 24 October 1872 married to Rosa Cocco. Lama dei Peligni is a beautiful village in the Maiella national park
Rinnova la casa senza trasformarla, devi tenere vivo il ricordo della meravigliosa nonna.
