    Yayyy welcome to 🇹🇹😊 looks like you stayed at one of the newest boutique hotels - the Brix. And you saw the Magnificent 7 around the Queens Park Savannah, the last building you showed was the famous QRC College. Looks like you visited Massy Stores supermarket in Maraval nearby, all great stuff! Unfortunately, doubles doesn't really taste good reheated; it's a local street food which should ideally be had on site as soon as the guy hands it to you. The taste would definitely be better. Really glad you and your crew looked like it was a relaxing and interesting time here, hope you return again someday and visit maybe Maracas beach for bake & shark, or other locally indigenous foods and things to do 👏👍😊🇹🇹

    Yayyy! Back to my home 🇹🇹 lol I found your channel when I was prepping to become a crew member with the local airline. That was so long ago: I got hired, did training, worked my dream job, and left already 😅 Now I live in Europe so it's nice to see this little taste of TT :)
    I absolutely love that you're taking pepper sauce home! It's a must-have when flying out. And you stayed right near my old neighbourhood! I wish one of your layovers could be in Tobago! You'd love the beauty of the island.
    Side note! A tip for the doubles catering next time - Ask if you can get the chickpeas and the barra in separate storage. That way you can heat them separately so they're ideal and plate them with your own style.

    You’re an honorary “Trini” now 😉 … got to get over to Tobago some time on one of your future trips though 👍
    Ps - “Doubles” being a street food, is best served fresh, so if you ever have a request for it to be served on board, try to have it specially delivered as close to your departure (ETD) as practical. “Gourmet Doubles” is even becoming ‘a thing’.
    Hope ‘Trinis’ took excellent care of you and the rest of the crew during your visit 😊

You captured the green lushness of the place perfectly and it is soooooooo nice to see that you managed to get the curry and the doubles for the flight from the FBO; it could have been a bit of a hassle to do it another way. Looks like a great destination. I have a few questions to ask you. What does FBO mean? Do you always fly with the same pilots?

    • @JacquelineTravels
      @JacquelineTravels  Год назад +2

      FBO is fixed base operation. It’s the private plane airport, everything gets handled there.
      I fly with the same 4 pilots assigned to my plane. We have multiple planes and bases but we have our planes assigned to us as crew. The flight attendants can switch planes but the pilots have to have the type rating to fly on the other planes in our fleet

    the only way to eat doubles is on the spot.. like right there next to the doubles man.. Take away doubles is not good... What happens is that the bara soaks up all the water from the channa which ends up making the bara soggy and then the channa itself dries out. This is why we have a huge culture of people eating doubles on the spot. It makes a big difference.
    So yes definitely if you are recommending doubles in your future trips to the pilots.. Tell them they need to go directly to the doubles man and eat it there lol.
    Roti however can be take away , but try to eat it within a reasonable amount of time.. and dont microwave!
    Now another point, not all doubles men and Roti makers are the same. Some are very bad.. and some are top of the line. Usually the posh places don't know anything about where the good doubles are or where the good Roti is. I've had doubles in trinidad that taste terrible.. And then others that you can't just get enough of.
    I would say going on Aripia Avenue which is not to far from where you were staying and having "Sauce" doubles is a good one to go by ( they are literally called Sauce). They are not the absolute best but very consistent and would recommend to anyone. For the top of the line ones stuff like Pier One doubles man, Roxy Doubles man, Long circular doubles selling by the people house backyard.. would be my best ones for this side of Trinidad that you would be close to.
    For roti.. it has to either be DONS roti or HOT SHOPPE roti. Everybody else is inferior ( on north west coast of trinidad).

    • @JacquelineTravels
      @JacquelineTravels  Год назад +1

      I love the thorough explanation! They do taste much better on the spot but luckily my passengers still enjoyed them!

    • @Trini_Skunt-Troll
      @Trini_Skunt-Troll Год назад

      I wanted to make the same comment since the doubles served looked cold. I would include roti too however because they also get soggy if left in the ‘to go’ packaging for too long…some other must try dishes is the ‘bake and shark’ sandwich, and Trini-style bbq which has not had much exposure as jerk chicken but it is miles ahead in flavor by comparison, oh and same with Trini KFC amazingly delicious 👌🏽
      Doubles are great but some vendors (not all) also have the other Indian (hint) treats like ‘aloo pie’, ‘eggplant pie’, ‘saheena’ and ‘pholourie’ all of which are also vegan and highly satisfying…you into pastries and baked treats? Trinidad has some of the best; visit any local bakery and literally get everything 😂
