Battle Eye is absolutely compatible with Linux. Is Bungie, in all of their stubborness, that keeps Steam Deck/Linux players away from Destiny.
Glad that you're enjoying Win11 on your Steam Deck tho, I tried to dual boot but, in the end, Windows just don't have almost any use case for me that Linux coudln't cover, so ended switching to Linux full time.
Great video! ;)
if bungie just allowed linux support the steam deck would be an instant purchase for me. Destiny on the go would be so amazing. i've looked at the rog ally, legion go and claw but windows just has too much bloat that holds back the hardware
Then dual boot
@@jeffreypeters5578dual boot seems to break very often based on my experience. The preferred method I found is to have a portable ssd with Windows installed on it so I can just switch between them through the usb c or dock
@@jeffreypeters5578it’s not that simple 😭
every time i watch, i leave feeling more knowledgeable!
man, i done Windows on deck a few times but at the same time I love the Steamos and it in game overlay.. but I'm at the point where I don't use my gaming laptop anymore and I can actually return it (got 7 days to be able to get full refund Its a asus g14 7940hs/ rtx 4060). also I have 1tb ssd on my OG 64gb Steam deck, steam deck is my childhood dream system, and I have a dell docking monitor the has a 65w USB C. The only game that's a challenge is Rust.. hopefully I can keep it above 40fps and ill be happy. The last time I did it I used a buggy driver, what video driver do you use? have you looked into lossless scaling? also do you have a in game overlay to mess with hardware? Thanks!
Windows driver support is the biggest issue. Games may work now, but it only take one game update to completely botch playability.
I wouldn’t update any game until I see others do it and it’s working fine.
Look at nobara os. Its not immutable. Its also made by the same guy who makes GE-Proton. I think it has resolve support but i dont use that. I know it works on the OLED so it should work fine on the LCD.
I watched your video the other day on Windows and its what pushed me over the edge to installing windows on an external ssd for me because I needed to play Destiny 2 on it whenever I was going to travel and not need to figure out a way to stream it from my PC. Works wonderfully. Was going to install COD but, its 241gb and that just pissed me off so didn't.
just deselect all the things you don't need in the installer, MW2 files aren't needed, warzone isn't needed, if you only install the MW3 multiplayer it's down to 110GB~.
What version of steamos are you using?
That what I use my Steam Deck for as well to play Destiny 2. But I am running a lot over here I'm asking a lot from this little guy I'm running lossless scaling to clean it up handheld companion to overclock it and it's still trucking 😅
Are using steam deck lcd or oled because oled not very supported for windows 11
lcd forgot to mention that
I wanted to buy a Steam Deck OLED, but as it still doesnt have all of the windows drivers its being the only thing holding me back from getting one :(
just get one anyways and enjoy and get familiar with Linux first
@@Mellow-YT it was mainly because I wanted to use it as a laptop too, and use adobe programs and stuff to do uni work
@1GlowingJar really?? Are you fr???
@@core2julen728you should get a 3-in-1 handheld instead, OXP X1 mini or Minisforum V3
@@core2julen728 Just buy ROG ally or legion go.
Is the low tdp performance and battery life the same as steam os ?
If you do nothing to change the TDP it’s locked in performance mode, but you can install tools to restore the ability to change TDP‘s and in my experience, the battery life is worse than steam. It really depends on the game you’re playing if you’re playing something like Stardew Valley you really won’t notice the difference but if you’re playing a game like Elden ring it goes from, like an hour to like 40 minutes but I do tend to have a lot of background tasks happening, so bear that in mind
@@JustSomeJacob have u tried lossless scaling on the steam deck ? It is only compatible with windows
I can't ditch steam os only for a single reason and that is it's implementation of system wide fsr.
im staying with windows now because of lossless scaling 😅
Honestly if I got a steam deck I'd probably dual boot so I could use both ... Have windows on a like idk 512 GB microsd card or something
Everything I tried on windows was laggy, especially Warzone, and the lack of controller support was annoying. So, I just play WZ Mobile now on iPad with the D9 controller.
Considering a dev option here wht makes yall think battle eye is compatible with linux its not.Never will fully be unless activated by pther means from a kernal level
can u get it on steam deck oled because i have the oled one
It’s literally the same system, with an upgraded battery and screen, anything you can do on the normal steam deck can be done on the oled or vice versa, the chipset is the same which also means the performance is the same
@@Silvermetal954 oled doesnt have official windows wifi, bluetooth and audio drivers available yet. you can get unofficial wifi drivers, but bluetooth and built-in speakers will straight up not work
@@paperino0 really? That’s insane to hear, and very odd on valves part, I’m assuming it’s just a bug that will be quickly fixed, but that is very strange smh
the booting when start up with windows 11 is so slow and a bit limited
That's why you need GhostSpecter for your Steamdeck
Probably Win 10 ltsc is the best option that's the OS that I use on my PC works very good last time I used Win 11 it destroyed itself and I used the PC just for gaming and some content creation 😂
Only problem is LTSC doesn’t get security updates anymore.
@@loganc2087 Yes it does, all LTSC releases all the way back to 2015 still recieve security updates.
@@98SE you’re right, it was just office 366 that no longer works
@@loganc2087 Ohh that's weird, I use Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 21H2 and use Microsoft Office for school every day, mainly OneNote.
I use from first day on my LCD 256GB steam deck Windows and work perfect i better like more apps config etc on windows then linux becouse on linux always u need some terminal use or around somthing
But for me after years of use SteamDeck i droped it bettter use laptop and gamepad for games also portable duo u need backpack to get SD or laptop on trip
For my bayed but i need sell it duo to for me isnt point of that davices like years ago psp vita or switch etc no need becouse are laptops from yars and gamepads that do that and more better
Have you tried windeck
I think I'll try that, i hate linux it's so horrible to do simple things.. plus the windows emulation on the steamdeck is crazy shitty, the game paths are often 150 characters long which cause issues, the paths used are sometimes just plain stupid..
I dual booted my deck. I think Steam OS is really awesome, but you need Windows for some games. Its just the truth. Helldivers 2 runs better in Windows than Steam OS. I would love for Linux to be 100% on par with compatibility with Windows apps. When a game runs just as good on Steam OS as it does on Windows, Ill use Steam OS. Here is hoping things change one day.
Please let me send you my steam deck, so you could trick it out for me. This thing is so hard to figure out.
should have used windows 10
No windows 10 has a whole other list of issues on the steam deck lol
im selling my Steam Deck OLED and buying an ROG Ally X just to be able to play destiny.
