:D The garage was the wrong place to run the engine, makes it sound louder than it is, in reality the standard can is around the same volume as this with the baffles in... so they have now been removed! :D It is still very reasonable on the ear drums, so I may look at a de-cat link pipe, but need to juggle funds first as they are not cheap sadly. Happy new year mate, hopefully in 2021 you'll get to swing a leg over this beasty! :D

Wish all bike work was that easy-going. Like the sound of the exhaust, nice rumble to it. Agree to why you kept the beta stock, less people we bother the less complaining we get.
Haha, the joys of working on nearly new bikes! :D It is actually still very quiet, so have ordered a de-cat link pipe which should give it some volume. Def worth keeping the noise down on the lanes. I can't wait for electric motorbikes to have the range to green lane all day, would def make the leap then to electric I think! :-)
Strewth! The standard silencer is the size of a small child. My top tip when re-fitting? Plenty of copper grease spray on the exhaust to silencer slidey bit.

Baffles have already been removed (although were fitted in this video), it was no louder than the OEM can with them fitted TBH, just changed the tone a little :-)
I think Zard are making some fantastic exhausts now, I def recommend the brand if the quality on the others matches this one. My only gripe with it is the carbon heatshield being a little flimsy

Hi Derek :-) I have since taken the baffles out as it was still very quiet with them fitted. Haha, once you go Guzzi, they get in your blood! :D I've not ridden the Bobber or Roamer, always felt they looked a little odd. The V85 TT is a cracking bike, but is quite big for a first bike, although it is possibly one of the shorter ADV style bikes, I have the lower height comfort seat fitted which makes it a little easier for me, although I can get on and off the full height version just fine. If you don't have a licence just yet, it might be worth considering the 2021 V7 as that will be a much more manageable seat height and will also be easier to move around when parking etc. It will have the same engine as the V85, just detuned a little (don't let that put you off, my V7i only has 50bhp and I still bite the ankles of sportsbikes on trackdays with that!) :-) I also took my V7 around Europe on a 12 day trip, around 2200 miles camping, was fantastic, just strapped my gear to the pillion seat and off I went! :-) Happy 2021, here's to a new year with a new bike licence for you too! :-)

Hi Dave, happy new year mate. In this one I was using the GoPro Hero 8 Media Mod which has a shotgun microphone. I do also on occasion use a RODE Wireless Go mic too which I can either run directly into the GoPro or to a voice recorder 🙂
Nice exhaust and moustache 👍🙂 I like how changing an exhaust makes a bike look newer not that your bike is old But when you look at the Vstrom with a mahhhooosiiveeeee black end can compared to an after market one the bike almost looks like a new bike

Hahaha, aye 15min job to swap, a garage would charge an hours labour for that! I am def a fan of the looks, with the baffles in, it is around the same volume as stock, but a different tone. I've taken them out now though, and it still isn't offensive, but a little more beefy :D
I might look into that, but I am also looking into fitting a smaller screen too. Probs be cheaper to get a wind deflector though :-) I may try a Y piece link pipe, as even with the baffles out, the silencer is still quite quiet compared to other bikes I've owned with different pipes! :-)
Hi, loving the Zard. I have the same bike, arrived last week and am loving it so far, apart from the screen issue you mentioned you may look into! I bought an MG Touring screen and I have to say fro me it is worse than the short screen it came with, I have made various adjustments but all I get is a serious buffeting on my helmet, the short screen I don’t get this with but just a lot of noise. Looking at deflectors and also Givi Airflow which has been recommended, just wondered whether you have tried anything yet? Regards.Paul.
Hi Paul. I had the same issue with the touring screen too. I have since made my own small fly screen from a KTM front number board. I really liked it, but the finish was not brill as I am not great with a Dremel. I now have a Powerbronze Adventure Sports Screen, which I don't like the look of as much as the one I made, but it works well and zero buffeting from it! :-) I also don't get much noise either, so it works. I got the white version, but they do a clear and light and dark smoke, which possibly would look better!
Great video. I'm looking at the Zard for aesthetics and sound. Do you know if it is compatible with the Moto Guzzi OEM side bags? I have the Travel trim of the V85tt and just want to ensure there's no interference with the side panniers from the Zard. Thanks again for the video!

Hi Jeffrey, depends on how I ride but roughly 50 UK MPG (41.5 US MPG if you are from that side of the pond). I know if I ride gently (but not like an old lady) I can get over 300 miles from a tank, and if I press on a bit, it goes down to around 200+ miles to a tank
@@chriscurrie5597 with any major fuelling system change you should get the mapping adjusted. Mistral have a plug in device to help, but not sure what other options there are.

@@HippoDrones Yeah YT have really stuffed up so much... notifications, comments, stats - they're all pretty random now. I used to get an email for every new sub, and I would thank them personally - now nothing! To top it off they changed the monetisation level to "max" (non skippable videos before, during and after) for ALL of everyones past videos. I usually have mine set to the minimum level, all skippable and only after OR before my video. So now it's embarrassing for me, until I get the chance to reset all 360-odd videos. Ahh yes, well I can imagine the baffle out wouldn't be over the top on that - cheers Peter :)

Put a wind deflector on the screen makes a massive difference ( eBay cheap as ) also have you considered fitted the Y pipe ?

I did, I fitted a Powerbronze low flyscreen, it was white rather than see through, looked great and sorted the wind noise and buffeting too 🙂👍

Quite a nice, raspy low, almost agricultural note from the new can pal. Looks a better exhuast for the bike.

Hi Jeffrey, depends on how I ride but roughly 50 UK MPG (41.5 US MPG if you are from that side of the pond). I know if I ride gently (but not like an old lady) I can get over 300 miles from a tank, and if I press on a bit, it goes down to around 200+ miles to a tank

@@chriscurrie5597 with any major fuelling system change you should get the mapping adjusted. Mistral have a plug in device to help, but not sure what other options there are.

Comments have been a bit weird recently, YT notifying me of them, and showing a short preview of it, but when I go to read it, they vanish, really kind of annoying as I like to respond to any that folk have taken the time to make, bloomin YT
Sadly the garage made it should a bit more fruity than it is in reality, so it is def a baffles out bike now! :D
@@HippoDrones Yeah YT have really stuffed up so much... notifications, comments, stats - they're all pretty random now.
I used to get an email for every new sub, and I would thank them personally - now nothing!
To top it off they changed the monetisation level to "max" (non skippable videos before, during and after) for ALL of everyones past videos. I usually have mine set to the minimum level, all skippable and only after OR before my video. So now it's embarrassing for me, until I get the chance to reset all 360-odd videos.

@@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger You can change the monetisation settings to remove the mid roll ads, I found the setting for it the other day, not sure if you can change the other bits though
