I took one of these for a test ride over the weekend after having tested a tracer 9 GT, f900xr and tiger sport 660. I didn't think I would like it too much because it "lacked power" and wasn't as "modern". But from the moment I hit the ignition I was smiling, all the way till I got back to drop the bike off. Perhaps its the rumbling rock and roll of the engine or the supreme comfort, but suffice to say I will be buying one as soon as possible. It's just got a sparkle to it the others couldn't quite match.
I bought one... had it's first service and absolutely loving it. Will be taking it from UK to Spain and across to Austria and back in August. Cant let you guys on the continent hog all the nice roads ;)
That is what Guzzi’s do with men…. If they got the change to ride them… they go under your skin…. The pleasant “itch” … she might not be the prettiest girl in town, but you will love them to pieces, at least i do, they always make you smile, grin, make you soft…

Thank you for all the reviews you've done of other bikes, Schaaf. I went to the dealer today without even thinking of Moto Guzzi (since I had the V-Strom in mind) but finally, I went out with this one.
By the way, I have learned that once you owned a Guzzi, you can't go back. Since then I wanted to occasionally do more serious offroading which, added to the horrible wind noises on the V85TT, led me to buy a Tiger 900 at a really good price. In the end, I couldn't really get it over my heart so sell the V85TT and my father fell in love with it so we kept her in the family. It would break my heart to see her go - all around a fantastic and emotional bike with one small but, for my upper body height, a drastic and absolutely annoying problem with hundreds of others complaining in the forums.
Also Schaff has perfected the clutch less shift. I think he does that on all the bikes he rides. Personally I don’t know how he does this so good in all the bikes. It takes months to pull that perfectly every time in the bike you ride all the time
Schaaf, thanks for making these videos! recently I had to sell my bike bcs I cant afford fixing it, and watching your videos gives me alot of hope and keeps me from giving up in my passion for motorcycles!
Finally some footage of someone who drives fluent in twisty roads with the V85TT Some say it's a boring machine who can't overtake cars easily. Here I see you're doing it without problem. I just love the unique look, the sound and how they stick to the air cooled engine. Cheeper than the multistrada V2 nowedays. So I think after a few more years with my monster 620 I would go for this one.
Omg I really appreciate how you drive smooth and fast, taking the benefit of any horse power of the Guzzi. I'm the owner of the same V85 TT, and I couldn't ride at the same pace. You paid attention to the other vehicles and bikers. Regarding your comment , I fully agree. The V85 is a mix of torquy engine, comfort , well-design machine with a good cycle behavior. I travelled in Norway and in Morocco, the most surprising was its capabilities in off-road...😊. I have it since 2021, still got the banana smile.
I got to ride one of these amongst the redwoods in Northern California for an afternoon on my 6500 mile trip across America recently. I loved it, pretty chill bike, liked the positive feel of the gear change, the character of the engine is endearing, fell into corners nice and not too slow to change lean either.. plus very comfortable... Hello Schaaf, thank you for your interesting video. I was lucky to spend my 3 weeks NZ-trip on a V85TT for almost 6000km. Single-Trip of my life, just before this virus chaos started. Beside discovering the beauty of NZ, the main target was riding. I can confirm most of your comments and I also like the sound of the air intake noise when accelerating. A super compfy bike, very nice ergonomics, perfect for long rides, sufficient fuel range and chasing through twisty roads are fun as well. For me there are 2 downsides I'd like to mention. First is the charactaristic of the engine, altough it is a Guzzi V-twin but under 3k rpm it is too powerless and in the beginning if you are not used to it, especially when you wanna overtake someone, you realise you have to downshift one or two gears, to get it going. The torque range is a bit small. But it is just a matter of getting used to it.... Cheers, thanks for your attention and ride save :-)
Awesome riding as usual, this is my next bike. Ralf glad you enjoyed our beautiful country. Noticed a lot of reviewers, mention scaping pegs a lot and some of them ride fast as well, think the difference is in your lines, the wider you turn the less the lean angle.

I have the 2021 V7 850 Special and yes it is a detuned version of 850 and not quit the same build qualities with slightly less horsepower than the new V85 850; but is still quite enjoyable to go to ride and shows plenty of response of power; I also just ordered today; a 2022 V85 Centenario; with a new lower rpm torque band; should be interesting to compare the two
Thank you for the video! This became my dream bike when I found out about it. Upright ergonomics, shaft drive for no more chain maintenance, uniquely mounted v-twin... with everything going on in the world, I really feel like life is too short to wait, you know?

Yes the shifting is quite amazing; it’s hard to see in the video exactly how are you doing it other than listening to it; which sounds great maybe if you could do a description of exactly how you perform it; I know it takes a lot of experience also
The fast way up is how I normally ride my V7 850 Special, maybe even a little quicker. I am 76 when I get up in the morning but much younger once I'm on my bikes!
The basic Guzzi concept 90 degree V Twin with shaft drive is perfect. I own a V9 roamer. I wish I had the V85TT engine in it. Then it would be perfect.
When I took it for a short test ride, I loved it, from looks, style, riding qualities, suspention, engine character...but I also found a bit underpowerd. I'm not a speed frick, have couple of bikes, some have more and some less hp than V85, but all of them feel more powerful which I find a bit strange considering that 80 hp is ok amount of ponies! I know that driveshaft and weight is to be taken in considaration also...what are your thoughts on that?
Actually, 80 hp is at the crank, and is from the manufacturer. Shaft drive reduces power at the wheel to approx 67 hp Source: watch v85 on a dyno: ruclips.net/video/UZk3KwN4WkM/видео.html Max Power: 66.71 HP @ 7,980 RPM Max Torque: 48.99 LB-FT @ 5160 RPM

ok
What is this howl when you lean the bike? It is the same as on mine and I cant figure out what is it. When you get it exactly straight up it goes away
I also have no idea
Its tyres. Michelin Annakee
Impressive riding, especially your up and downshifts!
thanks a lot
Yes the shifting is quite amazing; it’s hard to see in the video exactly how are you doing it other than listening to it; which sounds great maybe if you could do a description of exactly how you perform it; I know it takes a lot of experience also
Can’t go wrong with Akrapovics!!
Thanks
Very nice video and sound, Congrats man keep it up!
Thanks a lot!
How would it be to drive normally half the time and also drive really slowly at low revs???
The fast way up is how I normally ride my V7 850 Special, maybe even a little quicker. I am 76 when I get up in the morning but much younger once I'm on my bikes!
Nice!
Thanks.
You're welcome
Fantastic bike ❤️❤️ brava guzzi!
Thanks ✌️
Sounds like a lullaby.
some like that ;)
Great small gravel bike.
is the speedo MPH or KPH?
The basic Guzzi concept 90 degree V Twin with shaft drive is perfect.
I own a V9 roamer. I wish I had the V85TT engine in it.
Then it would be perfect.
Really a nice bit of riding there Man 👍🏽
thanks Boydy!!
Do you have a quick shifter instaled on this bike?
Die 100.000 Abos rücken näher 👍👍
geht sich vielleicht noch in diesem Jahr aus :D
Was there any vibrations from the motor? Usually guzzis have alot of vibrations!
yes and they gave me a massive boner
@@Schaaf LOL....epic drive man stay safe ✌️
@@Schaaf like dancing with a fine lady.
Why so much shift ??? Is it lacking torque or pull?
I guess he just loves playing with himself.. Oops, I mean, with gear shifter.. :)
that's it ;)
Would you choose this over the V7? I am 185 cm tall😅 and not a very long traveller...
I'd choose this if I'd like to travel
the power delivery sound smooth like a v4... i dont know how it feel when your on it but just on sound it does
it doesn't feel like a V4 for sure ,9
That sounds fantastic
Thanks
Very typical sound, those Guzzis...kind of a muted baritone bark layered with some gear whine. I like it :)
Me too ;)
complimenti video bellissimo, per me una gran moto, e tu ci dai dentro alla grande!!!
Mille grazie
Mandagli un pacco di tortellini! XD
Great ride along! Lovely sound track.
Thanks Andrew!
I heard most of the power is high in the revs, maybe that's why?
Actually, 80 hp is at the crank, and is from the manufacturer.
Shaft drive reduces power at the wheel to approx 67 hp
Source: watch v85 on a dyno:
ruclips.net/video/UZk3KwN4WkM/видео.html
Max Power: 66.71 HP @ 7,980 RPM
Max Torque: 48.99 LB-FT @ 5160 RPM
@@derekbyrne5615 well, that's why than I guess! That's really too low for that weight and purpose, in my opinion at least.🤔
Don't be afraid to rev it in its happy range. Thats what those gears are for.
for me it was more than powerful enough for solo riding!!
I really like to see Guzzi introduce a 'streetfighter' model with this engine (something comparable to the Ducati Monster or Scrambler).
Would be cool
left turn blinking constantly downward ))) sound really nice!
What
@@Schaaf V simileac,..NO,...That is the cruise control light, ....it blinks green when enabled but turns constant green when speed is set.
Confusing I know, but it’s the same on Aprilia Tuono
Geile gegend. Wo war das?
