    These guys have been VERY helpful with my project of setting up a Flycraft Stealth X with panoptix, multiple garmin units, and motorguide trolling motor. I will definitely be continuing to do business with them in the future!

    My fishing partner installed a Lowrance Point One on Garmin UHD 93 and it works perfectly via nema 2000, no more maps turning in circles

    Thank you for pointing out its NEMA based. I didn’t know about that until I purchased and went to install it. I was kinda pissed when I found out I had to get a NEMA network to run it. Why on earth don’t they have a CAT 5 connection version?

      NMEA 2K can prioritize data amongst the network whereas ethernet cannot. But NMEA 2K cannot transfer as much data at one time as ethernet. That's why ethernet is used for things like sharing sonar (a lot of data) and most of your sensors are hooked into the NMEA 2K network (small data, but needs prioritized)

    HB has had this for years, connects direct to fish finder unit. can be shared with other units via ethernet. The M K ult rx compass can also provide heading to some HB units. The hot tik is to get the combo heading/gps {puck} and mount it as close to the transom transducer to get less gps target error. set console unit to aquire gps sig from puck and bow unit to use gps sig from that units integrated gps receiver.

    Would love to see this installed. I run 2 102sv at the bow and 2 122sv at console purchases from RMP. I’m networked with cables only and no nema. Interested to learn what else is needed for install in addition to the steady cast. TIA!!

    You did not mention if this is only compatible with Garmin. Does it work with a Humminbird unit?

  • @DanRichardFishing

    Wish Garmin would figure out how to share the heading sensor built in to the Force for this so you don't have to fiddle with the NMEA gear or came up with a heading sensor that plugged in directly.

    What is better for what you described. I am Only wanting my boat to be pointed towards a waypoint I mark ??
    Steady cast or gps 24xd
    I went to purchase the steady cast here local to me and he tried to sell me on the gps 24xd saying the steady cast is older technology. So I didn’t purchase either until I have a good answer

      Steady cast. It will show which way your boat is pointing towards the waypoint. I have one and helps when fishing brush tops

    When these work, they are great, especially if running radar overlay over charts. However they lose calibration often, especially after making large sweeping turns. After that, they can be 15-20 degrees offset from true bearing, and in some cases worse. There is a lot of drift in the gyro-compass and Garmin's software is not always able to correct it.

    Thanks for the video. Can the steadfast be connected directly to the nmea port on the back of my echomap uhd2 or do I need to install the nmea backbone?

    So this is the garmin equivalent to the Lowrance point 1 GPS puck

    • @gregdutton8219
      @gregdutton8219 3 года назад +2

      No. The Garmin SteadyCast is only a heading sensor. The Lowrance Point-1 has both a GPS receiver and a heading sensor.

    I have one and its not working. Its basically making my cursor go sideways on my maps, not even pointing close to where im heading. Any suggestions? Its mounted on the bow, under my graph. Does the metal graph bracket or my electronics make it do that?

  • @jwboilermaker
    @jwboilermaker 3 года назад +1

    Well, Garmin nailed the price on that vs Lowrance

    • @gregdutton8219
      @gregdutton8219 3 года назад +1

      Garmin SteadyCast is only a heading sensor for 149.99. Lowrance Point-1 has both a GPS receiver and heading sensor, 249.99. Garmin GPS 19x which I dont think has a heading sensor, 249.99. Garmin GPS 24xd looks to be equivalent to the Point-1 is 299.99.

  • @JeffBattleFish

    All these videos fail to mention two things, 1. The SteadyCast comes with a NMEA2000 "T" and 2. In order to see the SteadyCast on two or more chartplotters you need to connect via the NMEA2000 backbone, another "T" and another N2K cable, and that the network connections do NOT transmit NMEA2000 data.

    Will it help with the anchor lock on the Garmin Force Trolling Motor?

      No! This has nothing to do with the trolling motor.

    I know this question is off subject but maybe you can help me. I have a UHD 93SV that I purchased new in February of this year. The last few times I have been on the water I continuously keep losing the GPS signal. Everything in the settings seems to be as they should be. Can you tell me what’s going on with my unit that causes it to lose the GPS signal?

    The old school anchor still can't be beat in function and price.

    • @RobFishYT
      @RobFishYT 3 года назад

      @Jordan Behlen The spot lock gots to work hard to keep you on in tough conditions. I've seen people have issues. Old anchor emits no electromagnetic field and is silent. Fisherman pull up on spots and wonder why fish won't play.

    So it’s basically a heading sensor for your Garmin graphs.

  • @miamiwax5504

    Can u just turn the rotation off?

  • @kizzjd9578
    @kizzjd9578 3 года назад

    I dont understand why they need a heading sensor. For dynamically mounted mfd's fair enough but static mounted graphs surely can be set to one direction and remember it. Motorguide motors can do it... seems like a cash cow for them all.
