as someone who indulges in stories focused around political drama, and subjects of racism & predjudice, Metaphor ReFantazio's world is up there in terms of the nitty gritty, even going so far as to have public executions of different races & homeless on the streets. and the fact that the kingdom has a nice appeal to it, with people in formal wear and shops that have items that are above any normal citizen's pay grade & details like the cartography of a land being more detailed in the hands of the military, and magic being both a finite source and a form of power the government has both a monopoly and free access to, this kingdom being an inequal place filled with danger & classism and how it's handled is really good. in terms of works from Japan, Code Geass is one series that handles this topic really well also, and i see alot of the same beats being hit in this. i also do like that they showcase not every blue-blood is just some stuck up rich aristocrat, no some of them are willing to join the military and fight, some of them use their power for the people, and so on. it'd be so easy to write everyone with money or status as hate-able but making the cast as colorful and diverse personality wise while also showcasing people who abuse power as well is a nice take. the major boss enemies in this being called "Humans" while the people of this world are of different races be it Elf, Fae, "Elda" or demi-human has a bit of duology to it as well, being that you as the player could be seeing this world from the perspective of nature & how humans look to them, or even a take on the old saying "hunting the most dangerous game" that of which being humans. it's up to interpretation.
Eaxctly I just finished the game none of it felt like pandering or the whole "modern audience" thing it handle the theme with respect and without spoilers of course atlus didn't go with there usual formula for the endgame. @@colonelsouffle3042
relative fictionality is an interesting thing. its a thing i thought about when first seeing the mcs fantasy novel. it comes up sometimes in multiverse stuff as a concept. when a character you thought fictional suddenly exists infront of you.
Well, It's been less than a day after watching this, but I can now say Kagato has managed to convince me to reserve my digital preorder. Now I just need to wait another 3 days for it to release.

The best part is that it manages to do all that without shoving THE MESSAGE down our throats. Modern game devs need to take a lesson from Atlus.
Well said. The game handles the subject with the respect and nuance that it deserves, and it doesn't feel like pandering.

This game has some great voice acting
As if you'd expect anything less from Atlus?
Strohl is such a good party member, I'll be kinda sad if he doesn't live up to the standard he set in the demo in the full game.
For some reason Louis reminds me of Griffin from Berserk 😅
You’re not the only one
So funnily enough, Louis reminds me of Seymour from FFX
