I've come to realize that's just what history is. You search for people you resonate with, learn all you can, come to know them, and then realize all you can do is mourn them. Not even the evil died peacefully in those days.
But then you sort of move past that as well and realize that they lived SO MUCH before they died, and they have sent little parts of their lives on to us.
They lived. They died. And so shall we, but in the mean time we can walk where they did and know that part of them and let them live in us, and know someday someone will walk where we trod and remember us and let us see the future for a moment through their eyes.
I enjoyed watching you experience that part of an historian's craft.

I went there a few years ago to honor one of my ancestors who died as a result of the trials... Salem is so fascinating to me because of its history of attempting to extinguish the "others" of society...but when you go there now, it is a safe haven for witches, LGBTQ+ people, and many more who have been "othered" by society. I find it kind of poetic in a bitter sweet way, I really enjoyed my visit and all I learned. It made me felt less sad knowing my ancestors death wasn't for nothing, that the legislative reactions to the deaths of the victims paved the way for Salem to be able to be the way it is now, where I can walk it freely as an openly trans witch... I'll never forget that trip to Salem, thank you for sharing yours 🐺💗

You all are so beautiful. Through the sadness and the joy to be with friends no matter what. The friends from the past went through horror, and they are not to be forgotten.
Keep living your best life no matter the horror aimed to stop that from happening.
Then, it continues to honor those who did the same and nurtures those who will be here long after.

I went to Salem this January and I had a great time. I was fortunate to talk with a bunch of local witches and shopkeepers during my trip. They were so kind to me and I think it's because of the awareness of how cruel people were during the Trials and they want to make sure that intolerance of any kind does not continue in this or the next generation. I also went to the Witch Museum and paid my respects to the spirits affected by the Trials. The exhibits were not fully up to date at the time but a few museum staffers told me they were going to update it over the summer. Unfortunately I went with a travel companion that wasn't into the witchy stuff so the next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to have some more interested company or go solo!

What a lovely vlog full of some lovely individuals. The sad aspects aside, I'm glad your friends were able to brighten the trip up for you. Salem looks like a beautiful city from your vlogs, beautiful with a very sad history. As a witch myself, I'd love to one day visit and pay my respect to the lives lost there. I hope you're feeling better both physically from your cold and emotionally!

I only ever went to Salem twice, and it was in October, when it was super crowded. I did, however, find one super cool shop I loved called Witch Way. After poking around on Google Maps, I was delighted to discover it's still there! I hope to go back to Salem this summer for a much overdue visit to that store.

A friend of mine she was in the Boston Massachusetts area about 2 weeks ago. They went to Salem and the surrounding areas. She told me about the Bewitched statue. Also she visited a bar that was the Cheers bar so I think it was model after the t.v. show Cheers. They were suppose to take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard but I think they ran out of time. She really enjoyed her trip too.

I’m related to 2 of the victims. One is a many times great grandmother the other a distant cousin. and also the judge ( a many times great grandfather) and a foreman ( cousin). Got both sides covered. Lol
My sisters and I went there for the first time 2 years ago. It was fun but we made sure to pay homage to our ancestor on both sides of the trials. When we went to the “witch’s “ house we stood and looked out the window envisioning what they saw at that time looking out the same window.

It is so amazing to see you 🤍 your videos, and your presence in general has been such a great comfort to me over the past few months as I process, grieve and find my true place in life as a witch, and I am so happy to see that you got to explore a new place, and visit with kindred spirits. I completely understand the mixed and sorrowful emotions towards Salem and I understand why you wouldn’t want to go back. I’m glad you got to experience it and see and appreciate all the cute and eclectic shops, but I appreciate the awareness that you put out there about how truly awful the history of the location is and the respect you hold the spirits of those put to death. Thank you for being an inspiration and a grounding presence from one enby witch to another. (P.S. your dark academia look was ravishing!!!) Love you!!! 🤍

I understand you so well, what happened not only in Salem but everywhere in Europe as well was just horrible! At some point in a village in Germany (I don't remember the name), so many women had been tortured under the most absurd circumstances and killed afterwards that they suddenly realized they were "running out" of women 🥺 Read about The Würzburg witch trials, simply insane and horrific! But try to think about the ultimate revenge it would be to see the expressions on the faces of the monsters/killers if they saw what Salem has become, the mecca of witches. And actually, I think their miserable souls are trapped their for all eternity.. talk about karma! 🖤

I went to Salem, Mass years ago and I found it so like touristy so i did not really enjoy it. And the shops were like actors worked there.
But the thing that was the worst is the fact that it is so Americanized! What I mean is yes it is Salem in particular but they do not really acknowledge the European witch trials at all! And they do not connect to that it was going on there and really the bad evil thing that was going on in Europe was simply brought over to the US by the Europeans based on their held on beliefs. Witch trials were a bad part of history but US witch trials were NOT the only or the worse ones by no means!
Even had several people state that US ones were "more important cause it was in the US" and others in Salem say things like "who cares, that is Europe" I live in Europe and have European family although I was born in the USA. So it was hurtful and is even today when US people ignore this fact and feel they are exceptional even in evil!
Number of DEATHS in witch trials in Europe: 35,000 to 80,00
Number of Deaths in witch trials in Salem : 20 to 25
You look at the pop of many European countries during the times of the trials, so if Mass was hurt by these deaths, imagine how European countries were!
Love your vids and glad you are back!

    • @JuriAmari
      @JuriAmari Год назад

Yep. And Salem wasn't the only US town where witch trials occurred; They just happened to be one of the most notorious ones because of who lived there (a lot of big names in the Puritan community) and the number of executions. There were a number of them in Massachusetts. The difference was that they were able to argue their way out of the death penalty.
During my visit of the Salem Museum in January 2023, they didn't demonstrate the international witch trials (the ones in Europe and other continents) but I did talk with some staffers and they are working on updating the exhibits to reflect that better.

In 1968 they fought really hard to save but persevere Salem.
But also mattered to not wash away what those girls did.
And to fight for the victims of the Salem witch trails.
Those girls came from their own troubled passed as while before what they did.
And if proof and documents would have disappeared.
The murders could of continued onward in history
The most beautiful Heroic, but tragic backstories that where they're victims that they murdered to. The victim disappeared, and is there identity?.
    And alot of documents

Documentsed notary didn't get to happen until the 90s of finally being exposed and until just recently also.
Bit these timing no one cares about a National Historical Monument.
And bones to building this country also.
So for historians or travelers showing up for the history matters first and for most.
To be able to keep it from being Demolished But people do show up.
For the shopping, and it's a problem. So those people who show up with big money need to be pleased as while.
And that money is the only way to save it.
And Jk Rowling Desverse to be acknowledged and this city to say thank you for helping Save it but preserve it. Salem is her muse
