@@JohnWilliamson_ Cities need tourists for income or people won't have jobs lol and I'd rather be able to go to different countries from an airport near me rather than having to drive 5 hours to an airport
Fun fact: In Colombia there is an airport that serves the city of Pasto that is so difficult to land on that one time pilots could not land there so they diverted to a city called Cali just to find some pro pilots that knew how to land there.
Gibraltar is a dangerous airport because of turbulent winds caused by the rock, especially if the wind is crossing from the South. It can create a low level vortext on final when coming into RWY27 which is another flip you off course to your death. RWY09 approach doesnt fare much better either with side winds. Also the approach into RWY09 is a difficult VOR due to the fact youre not allowed to cross into Spanish airspace so it makes for some tight turns around the rock as well. (which as a passenger is an absolutely stunning approach!) Visibility can be bad due to Levanter cloud hovering around the rock which especially in the morning shrowds the area.. Oh and sea fog can be common too! And yeah it is a short runway but nothing a 737, or Airbus 321 can't easilly handle. Tho youre probably not going to put an Airbus A380 800 down here. They say the road crossing the runway makes it dangerous too. But I don't think so. It is well policed with barriers and spike strips, and after 15 years of being in Gibraltar I have never known of any incident of any road traffic incursion onto the air field. Personally I'd have stuck it onto Challenging. I mean its not there as a landing challenge on MSFS2020 for no reason. Also you really need to come to Gibraltar to check it out. Its great you feature it a lot on your channel :) I just wish I knew people at the airport to give you a grand tour if you did! And you need to come before they finally finish the tunnel under the eastern side of the runway which will put an end to the runway/road crossing. Which sucks, because I think its awesome. Even when I do get stuck there a lot coming into and out of Gibraltar!
I would put paro at pro actually. Very narrow turns, you have to be fully configured at like 18000 ft, plus you can never trust the weather at the himalayas...
Aspen should definitely be higher than london city. Aspen has a steeper approach and there is no go around once you are less than 3 miles from the runway.
These were definitely the mosts dangerous airports on this planet but there is still one airport that could've been on the list.. Ísafjörður airport, Iceland
Hey Swiss you should check out Gilgit Airport in The Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. It's pretty challenging I recommend checking it out and have u make a video on how challenging it is
I have been to Gibraltar so many times mostly because it’s also owned by Britain considering it’s all the way in Spain, and i can definitely say these pilots really do use every inch of the runway 😂
They don't know that an Airstrip in my country existed, because it would've been there, it has by far the shortest runway in the country and one of the shortest in the world
Imagine an inexperienced trainee pilot's instructor faints in flight and the plane barely has enough fuel to make a landing at a long enough airport and the inexperienced pilot has to perform an emmergency landing at Lukla. Also the trainee is flying in live weather and the plane is the Crj900. And the live weather is foggy with overcast clouds. And a while before the runway the flaps and reverse thrust fail. Also the pilots Comms stop working and so do the electrical instruments so the pilot can only estimate his speed and altitude. This will be probably a one in a gazillion gazillion gazillion chance
This list is obsolete because to all listed airports there are commercial flights available - so it will never be dangerous or crazy because well... One does take no risk with passengers in the back!
