Sergio Marelli with r3 I don't recommend it because the wheels aren't built for it

@@lauradecker4213 So I'm also just a beginner, so I don't know if this is the right answer. But you can probably swap the wheels out for a softer outdoor wheel, especially if you're just looking at doing basic outdoor skating and not a lot of skate park stuff/tricks. Most of the skaters in my derby league do this for outdoor stuff (like if we're skating in a local parade, etc). I feel like very few people have a completely separate outdoor skate, especially given the price of a complete skate package.

@@lauradecker4213 Yep! You can swap wheels with anything you want/need/like. Softest wheels for bumpy areas or places with lots of gravel, twigs, or pebbles. A slightly harder wheel for most smooth surfaces (tennis courts, basketball courts, smooth parking lots, etc.). Harder wheels for indoors...but the appropriate hardness depends on what type of skating you're doing and the surface you're skating on.

Depends...are you a MEN'S 9 1/2 or a WOMEN'S 9 1/2??? The R3's are in men's sizes. If you're male, get the 10's (9's would squeeze your feet and these are not offered in half sizes). If you're female, I'd go with the 9, possibly even the 8. If you've got a local rink, have them measure you...if you haven't already gotten skates yet, of course.

Vinyl, but they're really comfortable! I've got 2 pairs and so does one of my daughters. We love them.

would you recommend these just for derby use or are they good for outdoor skating too?
