I know that Fluke brand meters are considered top tier... but I've always had good success despite having an "inferior" meter. I DID get a Simpson VOM at an estate some time ago... that was nice.
New Flukes are quite expensive but there's some good deals out there for the vintage stuff. I'm a fan of the stuff with moving needles also. I have a few VTVMs and would love to find a Simpson vom to add to the collection.
You are correct. I forgot about Tektronix. I have four old 500 series vacuum tube scopes and a couple of vintage solid state units. I downloaded the manual for all of them. They all still work. Amazing quality from Tektronix.

Tek certainly supports their stuff. I bought a 2205 scope off ebay and easily found the service manual.

@@mguess its a lot more yellow than yours, battery clip has been replaced once or twice and it needs a new set of leads. But still works
