    Nothing will ever top these old Faraday mechanical horns. We gotta keep em alive!! I love the mixture of the 450D's in there too lol, On both my demo panels thats exactly what I got up. 4010 has My 6120 on it, 4008 has the 450D with the VALS strobe. Both march time ofc. Both of these horns together are an unbeatable combo lol. What a beautiful 4002 panel btw. Wish I had one

    So nice to see the old stuff still working. I’m guessing the panel was reprogrammed to do march 120. Retrofitted devices look kinda goofy though especially how they were mounted on the old light-plates. I’m also guessing the system is due for a major repair/upgrade because of the ground fault.

    • @brianthetowerguy979
      @brianthetowerguy979 9 месяцев назад

      Ground faults are common even my system has had one. When I had it happen I isolated the zone and redid around 200ft of wire. The electrician who added pull stations back in 2003 was not careful as he put the wire into the pipes and some of the wire was damaged.

    I think the 9806 actually sounds better in 90 BPM. I prefer to hear a good 9838 or clean 4903 in 120-beat march time over a high pitched vibratone. Cool system nonetheless!!!

    Was the school built in the early/mid 80s?

  • @Young_Amadeus
    @Young_Amadeus 9 месяцев назад

    In my opinion, I think the installers should have used Gentex AVP plates with GMHs retrofitted on them to replace those 4050-80s. I just think it doesn’t look right retrofitting a newer device on an older strobe plate. But great test tho.

    This is a great system, but for any learners watching, it’s not being tested properly.
    Testing smoke detectors by using a magnet does NOT satisfy the NFPA 72 requirement. To functionally test a smoke detector, you must introduce particles into the chamber to simulate combustion. The accepted way to do so is to use an aerosol canned smoke that is UL-listed and not petroleum-based.
    Magnet testing as shown here just shorts the contacts.
    This is a cheap shortcut used by unqualified individuals/companies.
    That sets a very bad example.

    • @FourtyFiftyEighty
      @FourtyFiftyEighty  6 месяцев назад

      In our jurisdiction using any UL listed method of testing is accepted. Since the magnet test was UL listed it works. It is true though that other places require smoke testing and in cases where magnet testing isn’t available we use smoke

    • @SimplexTech
      @SimplexTech 6 месяцев назад

      @@FourtyFiftyEighty friendly challenge: show or cite me in NFPA 72 where it says magnet testing is an acceptable means for a functional test of a smoke detector.

    • @FourtyFiftyEighty
      @FourtyFiftyEighty  6 месяцев назад

      As I said in our jurisdiction the fire Marshall approved magnet testing. This was what I was told when I was asked

    • @SimplexTech
      @SimplexTech 6 месяцев назад

      @@FourtyFiftyEighty your “jurisdiction“ is not allowed to override NFPA regulations. The AHJ can enforce more stringent requirements, but are not able to allow less than what is required.
      I also assume that you have read the specifications and manufacturers instructions for Simplex detectors and are familiar with what those acceptable means for testing are for that type detector, correct?

    • @FourtyFiftyEighty
      @FourtyFiftyEighty  6 месяцев назад

      I work as an assistant essentially and I do what I am told and that is the reason they gave me for why magnet testing is allowed. I’m not going to argue with my supervisor on how we do testing. I can ask again if you want but that is why it was done this way
