I'm Italian and I don't like Wilder, but amateur boxing has a completely different approach. Wilder arrived at the Olympics after two years of starting boxing, he is not a technical giant but with a terrifying punch, and in professionalism this with much more weight ...
I doubt he would have made it as a pro. He was unorthodox, and for short amateur fights his style was really good. But all of his opponents have said he has no power at all and was mostly just annoying to fight because you don't have time to make a plan, develop it, accumulate damage, and take it to the championship rounds in amateur fights. Across 12 rounds in a vastly different form of boxing he likely wouldn't get very far.
