I've published a free video lesson at decplay.com/FREE showing the unique DecPlay method (as featured on BBC) - to help adults / seniors learn songs on piano quickly and easily - without reading music notation.
Thanks for the run down. In regards to the octave shift, hold the metronome button then the middle D, you will hear a click, then be in a lower octave. For default, met and middle E. NP12, not sure if same for other.
thank you so much, i struggled so much to find this again XD i randomly explored it, and then cant figured out how i did it before, and instead searching how to do it on web, i tried crazy random things to find it again XD now im relieved thanks a lot for the video !!
hi, thanks for this, I don't understand why they make such a nice product and do there such an important things hidden. Actually wanted to ask you, please, where is the "octaves up/down"? I guess it is needed on the small keyboards with just 5 octaves, isn't it?
yes it would be nice if it wasn't hidden - heres a link to the manual that shows the octaves up/down feature usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/piaggero/np-32_12/downloads.html
Hi! Thanks for the video! Is it possible to use this feature to get another octave, an octave lower than what the NP12 has? I always need keys one octave lower, but can’t get them for obvious reasons
yes you can change the octave using the octave shift function - see the user guide for more info at usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/piaggero/np-32_12/downloads.html
Yes - if you hold down two buttons at the same time, for example piano and strings, it mixes the sounds. You can alter the volume between the two sounds - see the owners manual for more details
To use the hidden transpose feature on NP11 hold demo & metronome buttons at same time and press notes slightly higher than middle C to transpose up or slightly lower than middle C to transpose down
Another use of the transpose function would be to play along with Bb or Eb brass instruments without having to manually transpose the piano part down or up, that is, in the absence of a dedicated piano part. For example, if detuned down to Bb, the keyboard could use a lead trumpet part directly as piano solo over brass instruments.

Hi John - yes - but you press a different button on the keyboard for this - checkout the user guide at usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/6/455556/np32np12_en_om_22multi_c0.pdf
this works for the NP12 and NP32 - different models have different ways to activate the transpose feature - I suggest checking the owners manual for your particular keyboard.
to use the transpose feature on Yamaha NP15 hold the demo & metronome buttons at same time and press notes slightly higher than C2 (the octave below middle C) to transpose up or slightly lower than C2 to transpose down here's a link to the NP15 owners manual (also NP35) uk.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/0/2063030/np35_en_om_a0.pdf
I don't mean to sound funny but it's not exactly " hidden" if you read the manual. It's all in there with the other functions and the manual can easily be downloaded online .
yes but so many people don't know its there because many (like me) don't read the dozens of pages in manuals and the word 'transpose' does not appear anywhere on the buttons - the function is hidden away in the user manual

I asked for the p120 keyboard from Yamaha how to use that transpose and here you are

Amazing!
What about np 11?
NP11 is great too - I have owned 2 of them - very similar to NP12. Don't think they are made anymore as they were replaced by the NP12.
Thanx!🌷
You're welcome 😊
I'm doing this on Yamaha YES 5. it's not working
