It was weirdly gratifying seeing Clive go all apeshit. Throughout the game, he has always had this strong stoicism about him, even in moments when he is angry or excited still manages to have a certain sense of control. But when he is scolding his mom he goes completely off the rails. I guess it is just a friendly reminder that at the end of the day, he is still human.
Can you really blame him for unloading on her? She made him feel inferior every chance she got, betrayed Rosaria, got Elwin killed, had Clive turned into a branded slave, butchered the branded of Rosaria because she thought they were worthless and refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing she’s ever done. Of all the bad guys in this game, she might be the worst……and that’s saying something considering the lineup of despicable bastards in this game.
Can we get some appreciation for Anabella's voice actress as well? Clive's was of course amazing but I never hear anyone mention Anabella, she pulls of that arrogant self righteousness so perfectly. Especially that change in tone when saying "So long as this bloodline remains unbroken, what does it matter if a nation falls?" just fantastic. Honestly would have loved to see her in the game for longer! (but still eventually getting what she deserved)
@@MrWinnfield Disagree. Christina Cole (Anabella) seems to have a knack for playing villains. Her very first role was as one, opposite none other than Amanda Bynes.
The fact this is most likely the most positive interaction Clive has ever had with Anabella really shows what an absolutely shitty human being Anabella was. Huge props to Ben Starr and Christina Cole. This is probably one of the best-acted cutscenes I've ever seen in a videogame.
She never cared. She could’ve claimed that she did until she was blue in the face but that isn’t true in the slightest. Narcissistic greed……..that’s all it was. She never truly cared about Clive or Joshua…………It was always about her, how she would benefit and improve her status…….and funnily enough, she ended up losing everything and ending up with nothing.
@@jordanjackson4840 I'd have to assume it's a writer oversight because the mental state of Anabelle after she realizes Joshua is dead is nothing like that of after she reunites with Clive. There's no explanation given for this inconsistency either.
She was planning on bearing Sanbreque’s next heir anyway. At that moment, she was probably just high from her plan working to a T. Plus any anger she felt about Joshua “dying” was probably transferred into making Clive’s life miserable for surviving.
Ben or Yuri? They both have such good performance and both deserve the award for best performance. I can’t pick they are both so good and this scene is such a masterpiece and showcase of acting
Ben Starr will go down as one of the best voice actors of our generation. This scene has so much PASSION, so much anger, it's so perfect. Bravo!
He did good, but he broke out of the characters voice at some parts.

I feel most of the villains have backstories, and reasons WHY they are bad. As far as I know, she does not have any sort of reason.@@jordanjackson4840

This scene was a god damn masterpiece
Who else was cheering the whole time in the scene shortly after this
Dude I was yelling “just let me Judgement Bolt her pleaseeeee”
My favorite scene in the whole game. The emotion, the passion from Clive/Ben Starr. It’s amazing.
You want to know why the Phoenix didn't choose him, because he has the second Eikon of fire which he didn't know this whole time.
This scene alone is why he should win best preformance
I agree completely and just gave him my vote 🤟
Annabelle belongs to the streets.
She belongs in Hell!
More like Hell
@@CaseyCain99 Or a Jigsaw trap.
She belongs in the Goblin Slayer universe. Preferably dropped in the middle of a Goblin lair.
Ben Starr got seriously robbed at The Game Awards.
Yeah, but baldur’s gate 3 don’t gget me wrong. I love that game as well The game had pretty good voice acting.
Why?
@@kevingame3198much better voice acting.
It was a strong year for voice acting.
This scene satisfied me I hated Anabella
I don't understand why she was so non-chalant when she discovered Joshua "died" for the first time.

This was more satisfying than anything in GOT. It had the buildup and the payoff.
Best voice acting. I seen in a JRPG since Xenoblade chronicles 3
Must not really play that many jrpgs then
Anabella sounding like she talking at 2x speed in this scene does wonders for making her even more annoying.
