The US Constitution dictates that in order to be President, a person must be a "Natural Born Citizen of the United States". Canada has no such requirement. Google John Turner who was Prime Minister of Canada for a brief time and was born in England. There were others as well. So Kawhi could become a citizen, run for Parliament and conceivably become PM. But it would beg the question, why would he want to do that to himself? (But if he did want to, he could and he would probably win.)
Sadly I will vote for Kawhi instead of that little girl Trudeau.

Fans are just on the championship high still and adding the decision to stay or go, people are just taking the opportunity to show him their appreciation. If he decides to stay, the attention will decrease and life will go on. No one knows what Kawhi is really thinking -he could actually be enjoying the fan appreciation. Sure Kawhi’s not Canadian but, the hype is about how he helped Canada’s only NBA team battle through a tough playoff road to win their first Championship -a sports hero for Canada just like Joe Carter when the Jays repeated as MLB champs. “Touch em all Joe!!!”

So he knows this is the time all the other teams will be paying top dollar for him. With 2 back to back NBA championships. The Raptors were carried by him this year. If he stays and they dont win next year he knows he wont be as sought after and wont make as much money
