Just a note for anybody who is as absent minded as I am. Before you sew your side seams and bottom seams be sure your zipper is opened all the way. You will have to use your seam ripper to get your bag or pouch turned right side out. I did try the batch sewing and it works great. I love to sew anything and everything and I try out different things on my quilting group. I don't really quilt much, but I have made some QAYG quilts for my Grandchildren. But I have trouble selling some items at the farmers market. I am going to try the flea market soon. Love your channel and have made some of those zipper pouches out of one piece of material. Thanks for sharing all of your ideas with us.
Oh Sara. I feel your pain. I laughed out loud when I read the reminder about opening the zipper before you sew your seams closed. I am so absent minded that I do this almost every time. That's why I repeat myself so often in videos. I told Chris, and even he felt your pain😁😁
Aloha (hello) from Hawaii, I love your videos and your sewing techniques. I just started rescuing fabrics from a furniture store in my area thanks to your idea. Can’t wait to start sewing something with these “rescued “ fabric. Mahalo nui (Thank you) Jollette
Thank you Christine. Those little details that your experience allows you to show us are so helpful. I am used to making clothes, but want to make a bag for my shoes for going away. Thank you. I think your prices are very fair too. Well done.
Love this Christine. Useful for all sorts of storage. Thank you for sharing your time and expertise. I'm gonna make this for storing my small/mini craft iron.
Great for all storage solutions. I've made this style before. My G.niece wanted one for her ballet shoes with a boxed bottom and was well pleased with it. If I was cutting off the metal ends of a zip I'd sew the ends before cutting off the metal. Thanks for another great tutorial Christine PS - I love that you put a description & photo of the item in your thumbnail - Whenever I share any video's to Pinterest I always like to write a note; but the past few days it's not allowing me to do so. Some other people's thumbnails don't show the finished article so after saving you can't see what they've made when searching for an item. Thanks again 👍
Another great video from Christine! Thank you! I think I'll try the lined version but I think I'll try fusing the main fabric to the lining using double sided fusible first, then surge the edges, then assemble like your video using upholstery fabric. I love these tutorials!❤
Hi Christine, great video as usual. I wanted to share that I've been making your pattern with a lining since the first time I saw it. Because I didn't know any better I just made it like your unlined version that gets finished with binding on the ends, it's just a little thicker. Zipper is installed like this video, centered, attach handle, fold in sides, sew end seams, attach binding, done. I think it's a little less fiddly but only if you don't mind seeing the binding. Thank you for your great teaching and hard work.
❤ Thank you so much for your wonderful teaching in this video and every video you give us! I am so excited to make this as a gift for this coming Christmas for friends and family. I enjoy your videos immensely and look forward to every new one that comes my way!
Thank you so much for yet another awesome video! I have made many many of the original “shoe bag” pattern and took it upon myself to line them simply by adding the lining to the backside of the zip as you normally would, and then treated both the exterior and lining as a single piece of material. I finished the ends using a overcast stitch figuring it wouldn’t be seen anyways. This new video of yours makes for a much neater interior to be sure;, so thank you for this detailed instruction!
Thank goodness for rewind. I made this along with you. I thought it would be small for shoes and I was right. I would get a good price for these lined bags or I would not be making them. The best part is that I did it! I'll try the unlined one next time 😂
I'm having problems with some pages loading Rebecca. If you'd like to email me at christineshomeaffairsnagambie@gmail.com, I can send you photos of what's available. Meanwhile, I'm getting a developer to fix the site😁
I don't know how big size 11's are laura, but if you use the dimensions in this video, but follow the instructions in the lined version, the sizing should work. ruclips.net/video/NNu3_Z3du-k/видео.htmlsi=i87CK6pBZTYi5TkO😁
Another handy bag, thank you for always making it straight forward and easy to follow, ideal for travelling.Have you any thoughts on a pouch that slide on a belt for a mobile phone,my granddaughters have asked me to make one because they don’t want to put the phones in the pocket’s because they are always falling out.Though you might have a clever idea.
Great tutorial Christine. Do you think you could use those hangers from you upholstery fabric at the top some how so you could hang them in the wardrobe with your shoes in them? I noticed your ironing pad you used in the last video did you make it? If so can you show how to make it. Thanks you Christine.
Thank you. A great video that I’m hoping to try. Have you a tutorial on garment bag as it’s similar to this and I’d love to make one as a gift. If not please could you consider providing a tutorial for one? Thanks
Thank you. I enjoy watching your videos. I have the fabric and the zipper coil to make these bags, but I just can’t seem to get the hang of applying the zipper to the coil. Have you a slow down video of applying the zipper to coil please?
Thank you so much Christine! My favorite bag to make of your video tutorials is the shoe bag. I love that bag. I have made your shoe bags for gifts, then I sorted out how to make them lined with PUL and now shoe bags with PUL are requested. Nobody wants an unlined one anymore (sigh - PUL is expensive). PUL makes the bags easy to clean on the inside because worn shoes are just gross and also to use as a bag for wet shoes or clothes. Have you considered lining with PUL?
Robin, I haven't done them with the PUL as I don't have any. About 90% of the work I do is with rescued fabric, so it's something I haven't scored yet😀
Hello Christine! Happy Easter 🐣 I am so glad I waited for your version of lined shoe bag with regular zipper!! I made a lined version once from another RUclips Video but it came out too small for a men’s size 10.5 US shoe …so I am wondering is your measurements ok to fit a men’s size 10.5 US shoe ? I am not good at adjusting measurements to increase length and width …. I am still newish to sewing. If this video measurements are too small, could you tell me how much length and width I should cut for the outer and lining fabric ? And zipper length ? Then I will follow your video for sewing instructions. My guy is going on vacation in 2 weeks …so I am running short on time . I have extra day this weekend so I can fit sewing a shoe bag or two into my time slot . Sorry …to give you such short notice …but you’re soooo good at this , you probably can give me the answer quickly. Thank you for helping me out .
Hi Bernice. Could you tell me the measurement of the shoe? If im a bit late responding, just to be safe you can add 1" to width of shoe Bag. The length of zip will be 1" less than that width. 😁
Bernice, the original shoe bag video I did measures 15" when finished. That should be big enough to fit the shoes. If you want it lined, follow the tutorial in this link, but in the bigger size😁
Question, and maybe I'm way off base and not seeing something... Could a person fuse both inside and outside fabrics together, then just sew the bag like your regular unlined bag? I do have fusing that can be fused on both sides. Seems like it would save a bunch of work. Thanks.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Yes, I mean stabilizer. I have some that is iron on with the fusion on both sides. It's paper backed. You iron it on on like the outside fabric, then pull the paper off an iron on the inner fabric. then I think it would be just like making your regular bag, but it would be finished with the lining in it. I was just thinking that it would save a bunch of time, and not have as many steps. Maybe I'll give it a try. Reason I would like to do it with a lining is that I still haven't been able to get and upholstery samples here in my area, so I was thinking of using the cotton fabric that I have and making some lined bridle bags. My wife does leather work and other things, and is starting to go to horse events to sell her wares. She could take some bridle bags with her and sell them there.
Yes, I see. What you'd be doing is fusing the stabiliser to both pieces of fabric then. You would make it exactly the same as the bridle bag and treat the lining and main fabric as one. The raw edges would be at the top and bottom of the bag. If you have a serger (overlocker), you could also neaten the edges with that too. You can also quilt the fabric. Lining, wadding, and main fabric to make the bridle bags😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Good deal. I didn't even think of quilting it. That would look nice too. I think I'll give it a try. Might be a week or two as I just got a new Juki 1541s, and need to get it built and practiced up on it. Then I'll have some time to make some stuff. I'll let you know how it comes out. Thanks for your help and videos!

Thank you Christine for showing how to do this. I use cotton material and this would be sturdier.
