- Who says you need a car in the city? On most days, a couple from Staten Island can been seen riding their pet horse around their neighborhood.
The rest of the time, "Morgi" is "parked" in their Tompkinsville driveway.
"It's amazing," owner Abdul Elanani said. "It's fun. It gets my mind off a lot of things."
Initially, Elanani and his wife Ayat Masoud kept the horse boarded at a stable in New Jersey. But when they moved to Staten Island, they learned there is no law prohibiting residents from owning horses as pets.
The couple spent nearly $5,000 building a custom stall in their driveway for Morgi.

Cool! They have my support! No law forbidding? Go ahead family!!
You can compost horse manure. If you compost it properly, then it won't smell. - Don't run a horse on hard road surfaces, as can lame them. If urine smell, then get pine shavings & product like PDZ to neutralize the ammonia.
buddy thanks for the info
So hard road surfaces lame the horses???
@@Richardv24 hard on joints
@@troy4219 ok thanks 👍
I support this family for owing a Horse. It's New York with no laws saying NO. The neighbors need to get over it.....
her stirrup fell off 😂
Yeah cheap saddle.
@@peterscholte300 Well not all cheap saddles are bad.. A Circle Y new is nearly $2,000. I got a used Circle Y trail saddle years ago for $250.... that'll never happen again.
Definitely not the only horse on Staten Island ... you’d be surprised
So as long they take care of the horse ! But this horse need a paster so he run free looks only time he gets to run when they ride him!
The cantering on the blacktop makes me nervous asf
That's not good for her horses leg's and feet, that horse will end up foundered, it happened to a friend of mines horse, she had no where to ride but the road, and had to put her horse down. So that's what i be upset about, plus there are rubber boots for horses, and thats what she needs if keeps on riding on the roads.I grew up with horses, Horses dont belong in the city they need space to be a horse, and being locked up most the time is not good.
@@DawnNunoBettencourtGal Yeah I agree. With special grip and in moderation it's fine but this is just irresponsible
Well maybe in some cases because where i ñove they do that all the time and their feet do not ger hurt at all never even heard of a problem riding in hard road
@@iiJoshii Your horses are probably lame and you don't realize it.
@@maura_the_rose you clearly do not understand what i meant with everybody does that where i leave so you are telling me almost 500,000 horses have lame at the same time
Not the cleverest thing to ride fast on hard surfaces: apart from the risk of the horse slipping, it won't do much for the animal's legs.
For the stirrup to come off, the tack must be in poor condition.

@@DawnNunoBettencourtGal Some kind of equine 'overshoe', that could absorb road shock and also provide some protection from cuts, sounds like a good idea but it seems that such things are only used where animals are lame or likely to be.
You should NEVER trot or gallop a horse on pavement. This can cause painful shin splints to a horse. This is horsecare 101.
You can get horse boots for hard surfaces. I applaud you !!! I lived in Brooklyn and Queens. Miss NYC.
So awesome
I DO love you guys, but a little up in the country in WESTCHESTER she would have grass on her shoes,BUT ONE STEP AT ATIME SHE really loves both of you!🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️☘☘she needs a sugar treat
That horse needs a friend and that backyard is too small and you shouldn’t ride them on asphalt. The fall could kill, the horse, the rider and break it’s leg.

Keep riding
You need to wrap the legs and use special shoes for constant use on hard roads
Old town road.
100% lol
"Considering 'current' events, riding horses might become way more popular.".
Much better
This is not good for the horse. This is horrible
.
Nice🥰

How can you look into your neighbors yard and be upset to see a horse being well taking care of looking back at you. I know why... they're Soo jealous. I wish my neighbor had a horse. There's so much going on in the world that can concern more depths of thought other than these neighbors that have a horse I also think that hard time her because the obvious their culture.
She lost her stirrup... literally 🤣fell off
So does the horse have cup holders for dunkin coffee.
Ktowers Good Question👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Old Town Road!
That's no place for a horse there to move freely
I agree and how often is he being riden? This poor baby
@@officiallyjess5291 be quiet bc you shouldn’t assume
@@iamziyahh bro even if they ride the horse.. Its bad for it to canter on hard ground but ok- If the horse has bad health and weak bones from not moving alot good luck to those vet bills.
They probably ride it at a park often, I don’t think it’s that bad.
@@booboobunny5655 Never saw em and im often at the parks
Im sure get other comments. One slip on pavement will be it's end. In a field or dirt road better.
Whats your cauntry?
Shouldn't canter on pavement
There is a Horse into the City??? (COULD YOU?)
I met this men on his lambo I'm not sure if it's his for sure or not but he cool
They belong back in their country! They cannot have a horse outside of the house like that. It’s animal abuse and endangerment to the community. They belong in jail and the horse belongs on a farm or somewhere that is not in the city
Tired of kids crying
These people know or care nothing about their poor horse. 😞
Trotting and cantering her on the pavement and DOWNhill?!??? Hopefully they relocated the horse to a place where she actually has other horses to socialize with, wide open skies, and green fields.
Not enough room for a horse
A horse is hardly a pet.
The horses face is ti de to a pole
