- I promised to have a look at a electric bicycle, from Biltema. It is the model : 27-1402100 But similar batteries are used in electric bikes from other local companies,, I know of Coop and T-Hansen, here in Denmark.

Just want to say I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with a similar battery which uses the same charger and wouldnt charge above 36v, I had done everything and it wouldn't work until I found your video and did the disconnect of the negative and short it down and now it's charging so I'm very hopeful! Just want thank you very much and my wife's sister will be very happy that she can use her bike again

At least you got to the bottom of it should have given a link to where you gained the fix its just an unwritten courtesy. The balancing wouldn't hurt thanks for the content and you're a kind person helping out
The fix I found was in a Swedish video,, and as Danich,, I understood just enough,, to copy the fix.
My electric bike started out at 36v, then I went to 48v, then 52v now I'm going to try 60v. I just keeps getting faster each time. Awesome video as always Morten . )

I think you did indeed need to bring all cell groups up to a common level and the overall battery to at least 35v. Otherwise if you reset the BMS it would have seen the same condition that caused it to block charging before. Well done !

I think the lowest cells with 2.6-2.7V should have been balanced, so that's a good thing. But actually, yes, often after "fixing" a deeply discharged lithium-ion pack by charging the cells individually back up to 3V or above, you then need to reset the BMS by cutting its power. I've seen that with an old laptop battery I fixed (there were no replacement batteries available in 2018 for this cheap 2011 200€ laptop), and I've heard that it even works that way also on iPhone batteries. So this is quite a common thing.

Acctually biltema had this programed in bms so it stop taking charge after some years.. reset bms and good to go. (If there ist any other issues offcurse

ALL....RIGHT! Gota strut the "March of Victory" $400 Yir neighbor lucked out. Yep, the Danes and their bicycles.... In 1986 I was in Europe...doing some NATO/USARMY stuff. Beautiful year! All of the houses in Denmark looked like they were painted the day before, nice.

Hi, same thing, a friend was given a non working 14" Murtisol Ebike. Battery is 36v 6 amp hours. I have new charger, 42v 2amp, its working fine and has been tested. It brought battery up to 16 volts and charger light turns green. Tried turning on and off a few times. One video said that can reset the BMS, it did not in this case.
So I will open it up and see if resetting the BMS will work.

I am afraid I can not answer that.
Batteridoktorn now just shorten the RST (reset) signal on the board to ground.
The function to brick the battery is programmed to happen after the warranty has expired so they can sell batteries the same way as printer manufacturers make the profit from ink.
If cells are out of balance is another problem what I can understand, that must be fixed by hand as you did if it don't get balanced by itself.

I normally don't comment a video that is one year old but the problem with dead batteries is still a problem and the cost for replacement is ridiculously high.
Makes me happy when I am able to fix a battery and prolong it´s life,, and save a lot of money! But even happier when I get feedback from people, that has seen my video, and saved there own battery. That is rewording! :-)

NO,, I do actually do stuff,, I mowed the lawn, yesterday, and spend 30min chopping up wood with an acs,,, and then I had to have a little brake, and a dry t-shirt. :-)

my neighbour has a electric bike and had a similar problem with not charging, doing what you did with the batteries fixed this one for the neighbour batteries came un-sync
It is an expensive battery,, to expensive to replaces for something this simple.
Hi, just found the video. I agree it's a nice fix, although the fact the BMS needs to be reset is a bit annoying. I came on this video while researching about these batteries, as they are 75% off new at Biltema. At 75% off, for sure they're priced right. Any idea what is the spec of the cells they use? I tried to zoom in the video, but can't see it.

@@MyPlayHouse Hej, no can't see it. I am interested as you may have seen, they are massively discounted now at Biltema, cheaper than cells, and am thinking to build some battery storage based on them. Having cell data is quite useful

Is there no problem in charging Li-Ion Batteries with the power supply ?

Li-Ion cells not have a special charging algorithm ? like CV/CC ? could you explain a bit , please ?
This is just a mater of charging it up enough for the charger that comes with the bike, to be able to take over.
As long as you charge it slowly,, it is fine.
I have done this for the BOSCH batterie too on a Gazelle e-Bike which is typical for the Netherlands.
It is embarrassing, that a company would charge 2500,- dkk to do this...

I think you can share a USB drive,, like any other drive..

Google the model number,, and you will find where it is available.
I have just fixed 2 of mine it was the charging ports cost about £10 UK pounds. I'm an engineer and did not like what I seen inside the battery so also made some connection upgrades internally.
It's called a fuse,, it is suppose to be thin :-)
It is not uncommon to find rather thin wires, on the inside. That can benefit from a bit of upgrading.
Hello, why do you need a motor and a battery on this bike if you pedaled in the test? I once saw such models in the secondary market, but it is not clear how this motor works
Well if you have to padale to get motor acesstences,, it is a bike. If you do not have to padale to get motor acesstences, it is a scooter.. there are different rules,, like you need a insurances for a scooter here...

I have some problem with this battery. Cells where very bad so i replace them with new ones. Connected everything like it was before. Charger is red and its charging, to 42v and go green but only on cells before bms, after bms on output i have 21.4v and factory indicator on battery show one red spot. I tried to reset bms like you shown on video but nothing helps. All cells are on the same level. Any ideas?
Have you balanced the battery,, so all the cells is within like 0,1volt?
God told me that most of your cells gone bad (losing charge), so replacing a few cells will not work. Are you able to load test with this pack by taking it for a descent ride?

Yes, a good fix. I think the balancing helped as well, i would guess the BMS does nothing, if a cell is below 3V, maybe even 3.2V. But who knows... It did not harm for sure.
Maybe i should start a ebike battery repair center...
This was an easy fix,, and saved a expensive battery.
Here is the secret: When battery is left to discharge below limit the BMS turns the output off and charging is not possible... Simply open the box and connect the charger to + and - terminal directly after recharging to 42v the BMS will work on next recharge...

@@rushhour6444 I wish I knew what he meant as well, I think what you do is disconnect the connector from the batteries, as he did, then disconnect the battery feed to the BMS, this will reset the BMS
Regarding this suggestion, I think the issue for the average user is they only have the charging block as a charger, not the white piece of equipment he has, which he used alligator clips to directly hook up the to the battery.

I resscued 3 or 4 Lipos in my rc area with this solution. You need a "stupid" charger to "initalize" the batteries.

I only did what I showed in the video.
He disconnected the BMS before short circuiting it. Very important unless you want to see a lot of sparks and maybe a firework.
I have the exact same battery, but mine doesn't even blink red, ever, tried what's shown in the video here except balancing the batterys, don't have the equipment, but I tried the reset, didn't work.
My charger adapter constantly show's red and green light whether I'm plugged into the battery or not, and when I plug it in, nothing happens...
Any help on these old batterys still?
If it is totally depleted, it may be necessary to charge up the Cells,, a bit, for the electronic it be powered.

@@P47RICKG It can take a long time,, to charge up all the cells to 3,2v could take days. maybe 3,0v is fine.

@@MyPlayHouse so last update is that my battery has three cells, one measures 2,89V, another one who was low I have now managed to balance up to 2,87V, but the last cell is not charging, it's discharging... Not taking charge
What if some cells are 0 volts?
I would charge them up very slowly,, one at the time,, and when everything is at,, same voltages,, I would try again.
The battery has a small CPU with "planned aging". After a number of charges the battery simply stops working to force you to buy a new one. More or less a scam.
What you did was to reset the aging counter by draining the CPU from power.
Ahh,, this one was just left uncharged over winter..
Thanks for your effort. Your video was entertaining. However I think you should have left a link to the person who published the RUclips video you mentioned that actually told you exactly what to do in order to fix the battery (i.e. how to reset the BMS), otherwise, it's not clear whether your effort accomplished anything for those that need that information. You spent most of the time showing how to iteratively balance charge levels of various cells and admitted you weren't sure if that was root cause of issue.

Im not impressed by that charging system, the designer needs a good slap with a battery lol.
It should have blinked a light on the battery labeled recovery, while the controller pulse charge the low cell voltage.
Or at least a reset button on the battery.

The 0.2 voltags, may be to much of an unbalances for the BMS,, It might turn off if the battery is not in balances. The unbalance's might be a lot bigger, while driving. I would charge up the two that is low. And use you warranty if you have it.
we have the same batteries, they are not the same capacity. It's not a good one.

This was not my battery,, so I returned it to the owner,, not heard that it does not work.
@@MyPlayHouse yes..now I have open my battery,not all the way as is in that blue foil,and if I cut it open I may cut the wires..soo just a little bit in the front and manage to unplug the plug for the controller...don't know how much to leave it like that but I will let it for 1 hour maybe unplugged and after that I will try to see if is charging.It's a 36 V battery that's gone to 18 V charge and is not charging anymore,woo based on what you said I have disconnected the plug inside the battery that's supposed to reset the battery charge .
