That joke of a police chief on the big island is like Barney on Mayberry RFD. And btw, whatever happened to the kid that was seen with the killer when they were loading her in his truck?

That's how police handle things in Hawaii. It:s not what you've done, it's who you know. Police turn a blind eye, sweep things under the rug, etc. I live on Kauai, one woman not safe in her home, 15 months of TRO's, 20+ police reports & injunction against harassment, violation on 7/16/24 I am still waiting for police to enforce two weeks later! Two more violations 7/27 & 7/28. So many letters sent to Chief of Police & Lieutenant Perreira (who he referred it to) nothing, no help yet. Injunction says: police must enforce the injunction. Ha ha. Everyone knows how corrupt the police are in Hawaii (all islands) but in my 28 years here nothing is ever done. Too many horrible illegal incidents involving police here to list..If any state in the country needs police reform, changes and supervision it is Hawaii.

Well people have a good point of argument about how the police handle the situation. But the guy died. It says he committed suicide. Of course if he knows he’s guilty and if that’s what he wants, definitely he will do the same thing in a cell if he was incarcerated. But I’m pretty sure other 2 guys were there with him while the incident happened.

Someone in the police department has been covering things up for him. Probably a relative or friend.

I conferred once with a Judge on a DV threatening case. I was asking a high bail of $50K. He asked, "Only for a verbal threat?pew pew was only implied!".
I told him, "Sir, I'm just asking, you can say yes or no. If anything happens, in the press release, I can at least say I asked!"
    He said, "Okay, approved!"
I said, "Thank you, your honor."

They MIGHT have been able to make the arrest but they are so used to just doing nothing that they probably didn't want to screw up- especially in such a high profile case that they already screwed up on for decades. More easy jus' drive round and look for plate lunch.

He was probably on meth and did a impulsive, horrible thing. Then he took the cowards way out when he knew they were coming back.

Time was on their side - Police had now begun to build an hour clad case against guy. With the other suspects either released of deceased, witnesses also gone, the victim deceased for decades - but the suspect offed himself - bad luck really

I would have to agree with Hawaii PD. Federal prosecution is a whole other level. Hawaii has to also deal with Hawaii Law and the Hawaii Constitution. The DNA may prove "s3xual relations" but it does cover Erasure. The SA statute of limitation might be over, so the PD needs more evidence to prove Erasure under Hawaii Law.
I've dealt with Federal Prosecutors, even they say Federal and Hawaii State prosecution was way different. I bet even if Hawaii PD conferred with a State Judge, they would be denied. I guarantee the Chief conferred with the Prosecutors Office and was told they needed more. This is Hawaii remember?

I would disagree. The reason is that all three men were found guilty falsely because of 1. The confession and 2. The "fact" the shirt belonged to Pauline.
If you watch the video's made by the Innocence Project the Jury forewoman was asked what evidence impacted their decision and the first thing she stated was that Pauline's shirt was at the scene and covered in her blood.
So now they could prove with DNA that what has been stated by the jury as the strongest piece of evidence is now linked to a different suspect...conclusively. You can also prove conclusively that the subjects DNA was found on the victim....and yes the Statute of limitations has run it's course for SA / Kidnapping but what person will not conclude the SAME THING the previous jury did...that whoever owned the shirt got the victims blood onto it during the SA. Deposited their DNA during the SA and that the victim later died. That's a ton of evidence that has already been shown to sway an actual jury not once but twice (the third one did a plea deal so no trial).

Still, Probable Cause for Erasure? Garans a Hawaii Judge wouldn't sign the info charge ... and a Grand Jury wouldn't find a True Bill...
Lots of evidence for SA but not for an Erasure...

How we know this guy actually did it as well. Seems like Hawaii Police blame anyone just to solve a case.
