Women are a reflection of the men they're with. They know other men judge them on this. Also men gossip worse than women and they would talk about him like a dog when he's not around. This is also why men like a certain type of woman but won't bring her around his friends because he don't want them to know what he really likes. Everything has to look good and that's the reason they get got more than women. All they look at is aesthetics first. 2.Men DO NOT gossip more than women, I don't know if you have been around women, they do nothing but gossip or plan or reminisce which they still gossip about

Men mainly are very visual in terms of sexual attraction, it's in our biology, so when we see that the women of another man is ugly, we wonder what it is they would possibly like her for and therefore as part of natural selection I guess we automatically assume he is incapable of getting someone better which would lesson his value as a human being IN THAT REGARD which is why you'll get hella roasted for it

For your last point about men hiding what they like, that is mostly true if what they like are out of societal norms or just what the group of friends they in don't like that specific trait in women but unless something is seriously weird about what you like most men are usually fine with it, a few jokes here and there but nothing serious
