You know what would awesome ? I wonder would the Wolverine 850 twin cylinder engine from the side by side fit into this ? That would be awesome .
Those footwells are 👌🏻
Ive said it before on the old build video and I will say it again. Take the 850 twin in the wolverine and add a factory tune twin exhaust and some upgraded shocks and bring back the BANSHEE name! Try to redesign the front end to make the radiator similar to the old banshee for looks. Yamaha! It will sell!
HECK YES!
God damn that is a great idea. I have a sportsman 570 and would probably buy one of those off the showroom.
Appreciate a little nostalgia and a fun build, but Yamaha forgot ATVs exist, and it's really too bad.
They're staying right in the middle like all the other Japanese manufacturers. Mid bore 40-50 HP. It is a popular segment, which is why Can Am built a mid bore single.
@dirttraxtv totally agree, but to leave it virtually unchanged for the last decade? Model options? I'd love to go back to Yamaha but they're getting beat in the only category they're playing in.
@MainvilleATV not beat in reliability. My 07 ducks unlimited with elka stage 3 shocks is a beast and still looks mean
@ronsimmsfan2661 they are reliable, sure, but a lot of that credit goes to an underpowered and over built system and the owner. I've seen CF Motos and Can Ams go just as far with those variables.
@@MainvilleATV couldn’t of said it better myself.
Watched the original video when it came out and now this! Love it I’m 32 years old now and I want it even more now that I have the money…. Just gotta convince the wife lol
HAHA That's awesome!
Can’t wait till everyone sees what Andrew deals clutches can do in these things and if you can send the ECU to EHS or to Andrew to tune it !
Judging by some of these comments, people are over Yamaha ATV's.
There’s one coming apparently, patents have been filed. It is a twin cylinder, just should have been released 10 years ago.
in a world of 100hp+ machines the grizzly has fallen FAR behind years ago. they are more comparable to an entry level machine like a sportsman 570 nowadays with similar power and all yet a much higher price tag. and unless your a brand loyalist to yamaha youl agree the new machines arent all that reliable lately
@@123devinzz1 Haven't had any reliability issues with Yamaha like you're suggesting here, but we do fully agree that the Grizzly should have at least an 850 twin. Also think this line should be expanded to include a factory mudder, a -2up tourer and a sportier model like this one will be. There's quite a bit Yamaha could do with the Grizzly.
The people commenting might be "over" Yamaha, but the Grizzly is still really popular in the 40-50 HP class.
I just remember bouncing headlights
Yup, we actually fixed that after we saw our own video. Making sure things are reinforced better this time. 👍
If the goal is to compete with A Renegade or a scrambler.. Those machines still have winches and headlights
I think it should still be a trail ready machine at the end of the day
Love it! Cant wait to see how this build progresses.
I actually like the stock front bumper better.
This build is pretty sweet! The parts made for this custom effort need to become a kit that can be purchased! I would seriously consider this versus others for my next purchase!!
That's a great idea. Would be cool to have a kit like this available.
I don’t care what any of these people say, Yamaha is focused in on spirited trail riding. The 700 is plenty of power plus the weight is down unlike a heavy 850 or 1000. Majority of the people complaining about the 700 probably has never even rode one. Yamaha for life!!!
Agree! I would be looking very hard at this vs buying another CAN AM (I own two canams).
I agree, my 850 Polaris highlifter wasn’t faster or more capable then my friends grizzly with minimal modifications
Could do this with a king quad or a brute force, would be cool to see one done with your touch
Hoping that Kawi will update the BF with better suspension geometry and disc brakes. Would be all over that.
Really nice build 👌
wowwwwwww pimped out grizzly is how i got here
When is the build expected to be ready? There are two FMSQ Cross Country races left.
It is still in the process as parts are being delivered.
Looking forward to the next episode!
I had a 03 yamaha kodiak 4x4 was alright nothing special. I like the look of Hondas to bad there not sporty
Really miss all the sport options the market used to have. And don't fully understand why the popularity faded.
Appeals to a younger gen and back when the economy crashed, this was the first demo to lose jobs and run out of cash. By the time it corrected, RZRs had grown significantly in popularity being purchased by the more economically stable demo and all the manufacturers just decided to keep pumping money into what was selling. Now though, we need something more affordable and all those young bucks that rode sport ATVs back then have grown up and want these machines again. I am hopeful this market makes a comeback.
Man that awesome!! Can’t wait to see what’s next
Why did they go back to the 686 from the 708? I never knew they went back.
There were a number of failures reported and warranty claims made. My guess is Yamaha recognized the impact on its reputation for quality and moved back to an engine that is bulletproof.
For the record, not every 708 had problems. I owned one and it was excellent.
Thanks for the reply yes for sure Yamaha grizzlies are legendary for their reliability my dad has a 2010 he bought new and still rides and uses it almost daily never even needed the belt replaced only issues it’s ever had was an issues with the clutch.
Gonna be very cool when finished. Remember when you build the first grizzly. Kinda of 700 wolverine style sporty quad. Liked the 350 wolverine thought was coolest quad ever. Hope Yamaha is listening. This is the dirttrax tv i remember..
Thank you!!
So are they selling those footwells and how about if it’s still got stock plastics? Apparently the footwell is bad it crack.
I put D3's URL in the description for you to check out.
My family tried a honda yrs ago biggest pos we ever owned went to yamaha have owned 20 plus machines never had a problems toughest brand made people thing during a machine 20 miles a month is alot me and my dad used them to work we checked cotton with then it was nothing to put 100 miles a day on our machines for 7 months a yr I can tell u about tough we tried other brands nothing even come close in reliability yes other brands build them bigger but if u want a great reliable machine yamaha is the only brand iv owned a 2002 grizzly 660 never been to shop since new yamaha for life
Do anyone know if d3 off-road sell those foot wells? I would love to have a set on my 22’ grizzly, plastic is prone to breaking.. 5:06
Going to find out about this. Stay tuned...
So doesn't look like D3 has a kit yet, but I do really like this idea. I've included a link to D3's website if you'd like to reach out to them directly to ask any questions or find out pricing for this or any other mods.
Nice touch AJ
Нужно ставить сиденье от Kodiak
The name Wr 700 have been taken by the tenere 700
Pretty sure that was AJ's inspiration with the first gen of this build.
Almost bought yamaha...i know 2 guys that got 2023s....both in shop twice in first 6 months.....
I've owned several as my personal machines. No issues whatsoever. That said, buy what you're comfortable with.
How does this compete with a renegade?
Renegade 650*
We will tell you when it is all finished. For the record, big HP disparity in stock machines so we'll let you know once we are done out mods.
Yikes....
20 years behind can am and polaris 😂
If you compare the Grizzly to an Outlander 1000R, it is behind in HP. Can-Am just introduced an entire line of Outlanders with a new mid-bore single cylinder engine though. still competitive against the Grizzly. If you watch our shootout from last year against the Grizzly and the Outlander Pro, we cover all of this. The Pro won on new features, but the Grizzly won on its reputation. Someone also pointed out recently that the Pro weighs about 200 lbs more than the Grizzly too.
And still 10x more reliable than CanAm or Polaris.
How on earth could you start out by comparing a grizzly to anything polaris makes. 😂 I wonder how much Polaris pays them to name drop their garbage built vehicles? The only thing polaris is capable of is routinely breaking down.
That is the entire concept of this unit. Catch up, dude.
@@dirttraxtv I like to spread the word so people dont burn their money on Polaris vehicles. 🙂
Agreed. Polaris will work if you're always riding in a group so someone can bail you out. For remote solo riding, Polaris reliability is simply not there.
@@billz410 100% man. Up here in Alaska, we go on group rides to remote places a couple times a year. Theres always a few welcome add ons from friends of friends. Its ALWAYS a new out of state-er who comes along in a new polaris and 80% of the time needs a bail out at some point in the trip. Its gotten to the point recently of suggesting no polaris' on the trips, so its worry free.
The majority of the sales in AK are new residents and Military transfer folks.
They are pure garbage.
First
Looks cool! But I’m fairly certain there hasn’t been anything improved from the 2014 grizzly to the current model year that’s worth noting. Suspension, motor, handling is all typical “grizzly”. Hell I’d rather take the 2014, third light is useless and the air box was in a better spot than it is now. Yamaha is the best and worst company all at the same time..
Lots of negativity in this comment so you must be new here. This is hands down the most requested build we've ever done. Our viewers wanted it and we did it. You have your doubts, feel free to unfollow or rewatch our videos a hundred times. Whatever you want, champ. We're just gonna push ahead.
@@dirttraxtv lots of negativity? How so? Just facts, I don’t think I said anything that’s false. I have a grizzly in my garage and it’s well over due for a remake. Apologies if that came across harsh.
so tired of everything being a "build" . You didn't build anything , you installed parts on something you " bought".
Very common term for customization projects. Haven't watched too many videos of guys building an ATV from the ground up. We're going to keep using the term regardless of your feelings. Just don't want you to get upset when you see it used again. 😥
Love it! Cant wait to see how this build progresses.
