    The opening Allegro section is ridiculously fun. Such a jolly, enjoyable piece of music.

      The first theme in the allegro part is another particularly beautiful melody.

      Not sure it’s fun particularly; the slow introduction rather mitigates against that feeling as it establishes a more pensive mood at the outset, and then there is striking energy in the octave figure which is then subjected to some harsh modulations towards the end; there is also some clever counterpoint.
      Perhaps ingeniously playful - or playfully ingenious - is a better description than ‘fun’.

      @@elaineblackhurst1509 It's clearly also fun, though. "Fun" clearly isn't meant to be derogatory in this case, it's rather the highest praise. For my money this is one of Haydn's very best quartets

    Just listened 15 times while studying
