  • Sikhism is the world's fifth largest religion in the world, and its origins lie in the Indian state of Punjab. The faith began in the 15th century when Guru Nanak began teaching a new faith that completely differed from Hinduism and Islam. At the birthday celebration for Guru Nanak, Tevya learns how and why Sikh's pray, how they cook vegetarian for the masses, and why Sikh's consider warriors saintly.

    I have a few Sikh friends, and there all great lovely people.. it makes me so angry when people talk bad about them and make fun 😓 but the ignorant have no boundaries and they are just as they are, ignorant.... So there is no point to feel an emotion from a moron and doing so make me as ignorant as they are. That is something I never want to be... Stay blessed Sikh brothers and sisters. What you guru teaches is Truth and it's the same truth's I know... so stay blessed ❤️

    Regarding why they don't eat meat at the Langar, communal meal. Sikhs aren't strictly vegetarian. They have rules about not eating ritually killed meat, like how Muslims slowly bleed out their live stock, likely because of their compassion. However, the primary reason they don't eat meat at Langar, is that they serve anyone regardless of their identity, so anyone can partake in the meal regardless of their personal or religious dietary restrictions that don't allow meat or specific meats. However, some Sikhs choose not to eat meat period out of compassion. Just clearing up any misconceptions.

    I am a practising Sikh from India and I highly object to that thing written on the wall @7:48 ‘We love Khalistan’ well that is not what our religious motive is. This khalistan is political, this calls for separation of Punjab state (Sikhs in majority) from Union of India. In past this has caused a lot of bloodshed of innocents because of terrorism in North India in 80s and 90s
    Also the girl completely misinforms about meat eating in Sikhism @6:30, well in Sikhism meat eating is not prohibited at all except for Halaal (the meat prepared in Muslim way) this mention you will also find in our religious code of life known as rehat maryada.
    In community kitchen (i.e langar where the host is eating) it has been prohibited to serve meat because langar is open for all people from all sections of society irrespective of their faith, religion. Hence to maintain that equality not only vegetarian but ‘simple’ vegetarian food is served so that anyone from any religion, caste can come and partake the food offered at Gurudwara as a blessing of Guru. Sikhism doesn’t believe in any fasting, it’s core belief is of a human is hungry how will he be able to concentrate the mind on God or his/her spiritual practices. Hence in Religious place itself the food is served to all people from all parts of society.

      @singhjasbeer5216 Год назад

      @@bellarose1562 But this is the basic what we are taught since our childhood and that women is young but not a child at least. In our community of Sikhs, meat eating is a very normal practice. It is totally voluntary if one wants to leave it altogether or reduce it’s consumption but no way it’s prohibited and yes on other hand it isn’t encouraged either. Sikhism is actually silent on this like Jews and Muslims promote Kosher and Halal meat respectively, while Christians are fairly open meat consumptions. Buddhists (except for Jodo Shinshu sect of Japan) and Jains are strict vegetarians mostly by religious ethos while in Hindus the warrior class or certain sects consume it but it has to be Jhatka (meaning animal killed in one single shot).
      But in Sikhism only Halal is Prohibited specifically as it brings lot of suffering to the animal hence by default Sikhs who consume meat is Jhatka. But many Sikh groups are coming these days that actively promote Vegetarianism like 3HO being very famous one in West.

    Or... and I'm just throwing it out there... you could just, like, BELIEVE in God. which doesn't require you to wake up at a preset hour, and dress only in a certain way, comb your hair with the tiniest comb, wear a toy sword which is not really a sword(?), and learn... martial arts??? etc.
    I'd say this is one of the reasons why Jesus didn't like the Pharisees. They prided themselves in their rituals, which brought nothing to God.
    The weirdest thing for me is the bed for the holy scriptures. Or is it for God?
    Complicating a religion like this is what undoes it.
    Read the Bible, treat your fellow man like a brother, and accept Jesus Christ.
    This is more less it.

    • @realdanksta2237
      @realdanksta2237 3 года назад +15

      1. They do believe in God
      2. There are laws, rules and rituals in literally all religions, even Christianity (baptism, blessing over wine,…)
      3. Toy sword? Really? Are you just trying to be disrespectful on purpose? It symbolizes the duty of religious sikhs to defend the defenseless.
      4. The bed is for respectful treatment, the holy book of the sikhs is not God. You wouldn’t just throw the bible anywhere and be rude and rough with it, would you?
      5. One of the main tenants of Sikhism is equality for all so basically the same as treat your fellow man as a brother.
      6. Sikhs are required to see wisdom in all religions so they in a way already accept Jesus and his message.
