good info. I like the AA winchester hulls when I can find them. Most of the time I use HS-6 powder and have found 28 grains with 10 Double 00 buck from my Lee mold works well with my Saiga long barrel 12. I have found this to be one of the most useful videos of yours I have watched. It is awesome that you Provided the information to reload all of those different shotgun hulls With the different powders. I know that you used 23 grains of green dot in one of these loads , so I was wondering if 23 grains Of IMR green would work equally as well since I do not have green dot. I had watched one of your previous videos where you compared IMR powders to the alliant powders AND SEEMED THEY WERE EQUIVALENT.. would it be better to use scale to weigh 23 grain or use 2.8cc dipper. Also have you ever experimented with red dot in this load? If so how Did that work and how many grains of that did you use.
Do you have a recipe for Win 2 3/4 hulls, CB4100-12B wad, (7/8 or 1oz), CCI 209 primer, and AA Super-handicap powder.? Winchester hulls are from once fired super x and super target loads. and Im using #8 lead shot... I cant find any load data with these specific components.. Meaning how many grains to use.. I also have some federal game load hulls too...
Wade are there any other wads that you would recommend for these type of loads. I loaded up both of the 00 loads. The green dot seemed to work well but a couple of the Herco loads seemed very light, this really surprised me. I used a good digital scale for each individual load as well. Going to try to chrono next go around. Thanks!
Thanks a ton for responding so quick. I have one more question.. Would using buffer in these loads be an issue? Or should you not do so with shot cup wads?
I know this is probably an amateur question but since your pretty educated on the subject... if you have a recipe for #00 buck shot, can you just substitute the weight of the buck shot for the same weight of #4 lead shot? or would I have to look for a different recipe?
Hey Mr wade, I'm new to reloading and was just wondering if it is normal to get a little bit of dimpling on the hull after crimping. They still cycle fine in my pump but I have yet to shoot one
Yes it is normal to have a little dimpling! As long as the round runs well in your shotgun, no worries! Even factory buckshot rounds can have a little dimpling on the hulls sometimes. Wade
Armed Bear The only change is that the rounds will hold 15 pellets of .31 cal #0 buck stacked in 5 rows of 3 pellets. That's one of my favorite rounds in 12 gauge 2 & 3/4" mags!
Wade, new to the shotshell reloading world. Just wondering when looking at different hulls they have different mm size shells. What does that mean and what size would I need. I have a mossberg 935 would like to stay with 3in. Any help advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I have Remington now old one and very heavy , that the only thing i don't like about it . Would be great if you can respond at your own convenience , thanks you very much . Sonny
Hey Sonny... If I were doing mostly upland bird hunting, or dove shoots, 1 of the best shotguns for that would be the Benelli Montefeltro. It is a feather-weight shotgun designed for upland game! Josh has 1 and she is 1 of the finest shotguns that I've ever fired! ($1,100 to 1,400) price range!!! If the pocket book isn't that deep but you want a really fine weapon, I would suggest the Stoeger M3000 and if you prefer a 20 ga... the Stoeger M3020 is a great shotgun for around $400-500 Bran-new and $350 to 450 used! I have both the M3000 & the M3020 and I love them both!! I prefer a 20 ga for small game and upland just because it is so much lighter than the 12 ga. Wade
Excellent video as always, quick question, you think this load sound ok? AA hs hull with a cheddite 209, 23 gr green dot, waa12r with 10 pellets of 00 buck.
Have you ever reloaded Federal Paper hulls? I have a lot of them. They seem very durable I have seen a couple of videos of them being reloaded. The ones I have are once fired. I would like to use them at least one more time.
Great info ! I currently only have Win 209 primers and Fiocchi 616. Will those work ok and what difference would you expect by using those primers instead? thanks . Todd from Va
Hi Wade, I am starting out in reloading and wanted to know if pellet size matters as long as the weight is correct for the recipe. One of my favorite small game loads is 1oz of 5s and all the 1oz load recipes I find don’t specify shot size.
Im looking to make some 00 buck shot for self defense. Watched your video but you didnt go into where the best place is to pick up some shot. Been looking on the net and doesnt seem to be a lot of places that sell shot and when they do you can find it in bulk. Any ideas?
One question, I have a ton, and I mean literally hundreds of .310 lead round balls around here for blackpowder, I am wondering if they would do ok for loading as they are close to 00 buckshot.
You seem to know what you're talking about as far as shot shell reloading goes and I have a question. I'm just getting into shot shell reloading myself and the couple manuals I have say to follow the recipe "exactly" as written. I bought all the components you use for your 000 buck shot load using the Nitro hulls but that load isn't in either of the two manuals I have. But, I plan on loading them up nonetheless. Does using different hulls and primers in a load really make that much difference in your experience? Also, I'm having trouble with the 6 point crimp on my Lee Load All II with the 000 buck load mentioned above using the 3" Nitro hulls. It seems there's too much space between the pellets and the end of the hull and I'm crushing it when attempting to crimp. Any suggestions? By the way, I love your videos and think they're very entertaining.
+cheech101st you have to adjust your cam. if using a mec anyway. the small allen head screw on the left side. loosen push the cam forward a litte. try it and adjust till you get it right
Great videos. I'd like to reload some buckshot using roll crimps but have concern about shot column compression. How much pressure do you think that the MEC applies when crimping? Thanks. Jimmy.
interested in where you found your information i have taken your advice on wads and gotten some claybusters and am looking for load data on the 10 pellet 00 buck load ...
I’m new to reloading. I’ve read one book and it says to stay with the recipes. My question is. Can I use this recipe, and since I don’t have 00. Could I use #6 shot instead? Also does it matter if it’s lead or stainless steel? Thank you. Sorry if my question is annoying. Like I said. I’m very new.
hey Chad... as long as it's lead then all you need be concerned with is keeping the payload weight real close! Steel is another animal all together. It's way lighter than lead.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors thank you! Any chance you could tell me how many ounces 10 buckshot pellets are per your video. I’m trying to get some recipes for the only powder I can find, which is Titewad and Longshot. I’m enjoying the videos. Thank you!
I'm looking for clarification on cheddite hull identification. The video he said "straight wall" and it confused me a bit. Did he mean smooth wall? I found some that are smooth and some that have ribs.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Ah, so it's not quite as simple as looking at the exterior of the hull. I've only ever loaded the Federal shells with the fiber base (#7 shot for skeet shooting). As I'm gearing up to cast & load some buckshot. I was looking for some tips and found your channel. I'll separate the hulls I got today and see what I have.
I'm super super confused new to reloading shotshell so okay I have the Lyman book 5th edition trying to reload #4 buckshot I have fiocchi straight wall hauls what I don't get is how do I get my data like lead shoot target loads how do I find the weight of the load. I'm just super confused can I use straight wall hauls as a general reference for my data or does it have to be brand specific?
there isn't much load data using specific buckshot sizes. you will need a good set of digital scales. I weight my buckshot loads then match that up with the lead weight data.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors got it thank you. I was just confused with the book cause it would show target loads then buckshot. Im using fiocchi straight wall hauls.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors so I have a question if you don't mind I'm loading 12 guage #4 I'm doing 24 pellets to avoid the crip to cave in now I noticed that the wad waa12 sits kind of loose in tge fiocchi straight wall 2 piece hauls when I shake the shit shell you can hear the pellets and powder moving is that normal?
Ok so did I miss something? Why did you cut off some of the wad? Also does it matter if you reload with shells that are not high brass. I always thought high brass was for heavy loads and low brass for say number 6-8 shot.
You need to remove the pedals so that the larger pellets (#000) will fit in the hull. Brass length has nothing to do with hull strength. It was a way to identify magnum loads at a glance.
Thank you sir for getting back with me, I knew I watch your videos I try and understand what you're doing. Thank you and happy New Year to you and your family.
There are several good magnum powders available, I would start with Alliant Bluedot or IMR-Blue. Both are excellent buckshot powders! IMR-800x and Hodgdon Longshot are also good buckshot powders.
Bubba Rountree Outdoors You think using one of the BP pre primed Fiocchi hulls would be ok the a waa12r with the 23 gr of green dot pushing the ten 00?
I apologize for asking just wanted to know because it was hard finding them last season. I'm from Wadmalaw Island Charleston south Carolina I am a big fan of you guys
yes you can but you need to use data for a 1.25oz load using 700x. The 700x will work in these loads but not as a direct replacement! They are very different powders.

By the way, I love your videos and think they're very entertaining.
cheech101st If you're wanting to load up 3" #000 Buck, watch this: ruclips.net/video/GObJ-_rh6C0/видео.html
Thanks. Jimmy.
Hi Jimmy... My mec applies about 10 to 15 pounds of pressure when seating the wad... but, I seat a lot of wads by hand!
Thx!
interested in where you found your information i have taken your advice on wads and gotten some claybusters and am looking for load data on the 10 pellet 00 buck load ...
Right here: Where can You Find Free Reloading Data? Right here!
Hey bubba, would you use a turkey style choke or just full for buck shot?
For the Basic 101 video are you using 3" or 23/4 loads hulls, if you said it, i missed it. Thx
2 3/4"
Thank you!
Do Cheddite primers work for these loads?
I'm looking for clarification on cheddite hull identification. The video he said "straight wall" and it confused me a bit. Did he mean smooth wall? I found some that are smooth and some that have ribs.
This explains it well: www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=46361
Ok Thanks.
Does it make a big difference on what was you use? Can it hurt anything
Yes, the wads can make a big difference depending on design...
MAGA Jackson is FIRE!
mr rush,if cant find fiocci 616,what coud i use?
You can use the Cheddite or the Rio as well. Nobel sport are good as well.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors thank you so much.god bless hope all is well🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Hey wade what primer u used ?
Winchester, Fiocchi 616 or Cheddite
Can Red dot be used in these loads?
you can use Red dot in loads with a 1 to 1 1/8th oz payload. ruclips.net/video/YOUZtJ7YR_s/видео.html
Can you use the federal top gun hulls for buckshot?
Yes u can! Use data for Federal Field with fiber base.
Thanks
Will the shot damage the barrel since it's not kept in a wad?
Not at all...
You bet.
no buffer on these loads?
sir... do these loads have enough power to cycle semi autos?
Yesser! I shoot them in all of my auto loaders.
mr rush, can you remove the pettals on all these loads?the #000,and #00 bk?
sure you can! you can use only the power piston for any load of proper weight!!
Thank you sir for getting back with me, I knew I watch your videos I try and understand what you're doing. Thank you and happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks for your time.I want to be safe.your videos r great.happy New year to you and your family.
@@jamesboland6072 Thanks James!! Happy new year brother!
Hello sir I'm looking to get into shotshell reloading and was wondering what powder you would recommend for buckshot reloading
There are several good magnum powders available, I would start with Alliant Bluedot or IMR-Blue. Both are excellent buckshot powders! IMR-800x and Hodgdon Longshot are also good buckshot powders.
And would federal top gun be a good choice for hulls
yesser!
All right thanks and I would like you to know I thoroughly enjoyed your video
It's my pleasure David! Glad that the vid helped out! Wade
Now to find a cheep press. :)
when you make that video, let me know.
Can you use the same primers like cci ?
Yes you can in these lite loads...
Bubba Rountree Outdoors thank you love your videos
have you ever worked with the ten gauge ?
Doug Yarbrough Hey Doug... No-sir! Never even had a chance to fire a 10 ga!
Do you use a filler on the 000 Buck?
Yes I do Jon... Wade
Can you tell me what brand?
I use the BP original & #47 buffers most of the time! www.ballisticproducts.com/Buffers-Mica-Wad-Slick/products/72/
What primers are you using?
Fiocchi 616 & CCI
Bubba Rountree Outdoors
You think using one of the BP pre primed Fiocchi hulls would be ok the a waa12r with the 23 gr of green dot pushing the ten 00?
@@kylefraga4037 Yesser! I have shot that load many times!
What were the primers?
CCI
cci m or just regular?
Do you sell them
Do you sell them
No, I can't sell em pal.
I apologize for asking just wanted to know because it was hard finding them last season. I'm from Wadmalaw Island Charleston south Carolina I am a big fan of you guys
@@rooseveltmurray1464 no worries pal! this mess has been a nightmare on all of us! the reloading supplies are drying up along with the ammo.
in these loads sorry
Nope! Buffer is always optional... but it does seem to help keep the pellets from compressing against each other and deforming as much.
Is it ok to use hi skor 700x instead of the 800x?
yes you can but you need to use data for a 1.25oz load using 700x. The 700x will work in these loads but not as a direct replacement! They are very different powders.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors ok.thanks
Great video do you use red dot if so how much
csteelerx1 9 pellets of #00 is rt at 1 oz of lead payload. As long as you dont get to much over 1 oz of shot, I use 21 grains of Red Dot.
