I used to like him, then i learned engineering and some of the stuff he says or does is just stupid. Yes, hundred years before. And for the people wondering who Goddard is? he is the guy who invented liquid propellent rocket... and if i remember correctly there was even a life size demonstrator of that ( what is now called hyperloop ) built by some scientist in europe in the 70s. Then boring tunnels which only carries cars and that could probably maybe handle few people a minute and people are acting like he came with some revolutionary thing. when we have been transporting thousands and thousands of people in the most efficient way using underground trains for more than hundred years.... I respect him for kinda being responsible for the ev revolution and rekindling the dream of space travel in millions of people and he is a smart and successful business so i admire that... You forgot to mention how unrepairable Teslas are. Making cars almost impossible to repair/get replacement parts for by anyone but the manufacturer means the manufacturer can charge almost any price they want and do as garbage of a job as they want because they have no real competition. The manufacturer being able to hike repair prices means it will become much more viable to just buy a new car than to repair the old one at a much earlier point in the car's life. This means these cars will spend less time on the road and will become very disposable just like the rest of the tech world. This is massively wasteful and bad for the environment. It is much worse for the environment to break down a car into usable raw materials such as the ones used in its batteries and the steel in its chassis to be used in making a new car than it is to just repair the old one and for someone to keep driving it for a few more years. #righttorepair
I used to be a car washer and had to wash a lot of Tesla cars. I never liked cleaning them because I had to be super careful to not break something or cause a short-circuit, which to my suprise was very easy to do. Lucky for the rest of the crew, I had my way with tech and had enough common sense to not force something and asking the right questions to my crew before doing anything. They kinda let me handle most of the Tesla cars because of my quicky insights and realizations but I wasn't liking them a bit. I especially did not liked those suicide doors some of the Tesla models had (doors that open upward instead of opening sideward) because I kept hitting my head on them when cleaning the insides... It also puzzles me greatly why they had to make Tesla cars so overly complex, like two electric buttons of opening/closing those suicide doors in two different ways with no way to manually opening or closing them by hand, I once tried to manually close such a door and I quickly realized that they cannot be closed that way and doing so might break that door. Just take a minute and think about the CEO of GM, BMW, ULA, NASA (Director not CEO), no one knows anything about them but a bunch of CEO's will quite happily do anything, probably worse stuff than elon musk, like exxon with their climate change report from the 70s which they hid from everyone and it said something along the lines of "it will be good for us, when the ice melts because we'll have better shipping routes", contrasted with Tesla which has it's bumps, but they've been able to make electric cars good enough for most people to either want one, or consider buying one soon, 10 years ago, you'd have been laughed out the room. and SpaceX has done the following things under the leadership of musk successfully launched a rocket to orbit whilst going bankrupt, became a nasa resupply operator, made the rockets land themselves, became the only launch provider other than russia able to launch humans to the international space station, launched the first private orbital flight at 585KM which is slightly higher than hubble and have raised nearly $200m for st jude in the process (yes i know $100m was from jared but still), that is at the same time as elon is at starbase himself managing the effort to build starship and get back to the moon. not to mention neuralink, which he is invested in (but is less hands on with) which has been able to read brain function from multiple animals with a less invasive surgery than every current option. All of that wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the army of engineers and other staff. At the same time Neil Armstrong didn't fly himself to the moon, 10,000 engineers, ground control staff, metal workers, machinists, chemists, mathematicians & several astronauts before him. I guess my point is, as humans, it's easier to follow something with scale hard to understand by directing all of our discussion about a topic to one person, in this case it happens to be Musk. Yes, most of this might happen without musk's influence, but it did, I happen to like space and would prefer not to live in a world where australia is simply a country equivilant of kindling therefor i don't really care how or who is doing it, just that it's happening. and if you're curious about how much he understands and how hard he works watch the Everyday Astronaut's video series touring starbase. No one is perfect, but how many times have most people been a pivotal part of launching someone into space? Hyperloop is insane (because it will never work), at the same time the US government did think they could mind control college students and accidentally created the Unabomber so... we all have bad ideas and take them way too far. (other examples include britain being the only country to gas the british people in WW2 on purpose. America forgave and hired a bunch of Nazi's, nice one. and a drug which caused birth defects was given as a treatment for morning sickness). The world is fucking insane, i'm just happy that i could have an electric car drive me to a rocket and crash straight into mars if i really wanted to.
@@thefortnitecuh4900 i don't know as I'm no oracle. But I do know that colonizing Mars will be very very difficult. Being able to grow food for a colony, especially as big as a million people claimed by musk, will be a monumental challenge. And musk hasn't given a proper answer to these challenges. He is very vague and hyperbolic in all his promises. You go ahead and trust him if you like but it's nothing wrong with having a sound dose of scepticism to such bold promises

But, even as much of an ass that Edison definitely was, yanking the patents from others' inventions a lot, he was a legitimately talented inventor as well. While he surely doesn't deserve all the credit that is given to him, (or taken by him) Dude was a legit innovator. People tend to swing the pendulum too far whenever there's something like this. Instead of just setting the record strait and awarding much deserved credit to Nikola Tesla, and spotlighting how Edison would use manipulation of patents and their acquisition, going the way of, "Nikola Tesla was a God amongst men, who actually secretly invented everything before anyone else did, while the malicious, mustache-twirling villain, Edison, didn't say or do anything remotely original or unique of any kind or in any way, other than be the evil, super-definitely, ultra-crap shit crook man....

One minor correction I have to make: Sattelites cannot "change course" by a huge degree. That would take a lot of energy, wich cannot be stored on such a satellite.

Mans making apple cars
Once they're pumping out cars out of their new giga factory's in Texas and Berlin they will then start to make the 25k ev. Also it's called Elon Time where he is optimistic then things don't go to plan. But sometimes they do go to plan in fact the Model Y came out 6 months early had more range and was cheaper then initially announced! Um then he talks about quality control FROM 2017 which was Tesla's production hell! Oh wow the first time a company does mass production leads to quality control issues? Wow what a surprise! Their new Shanghai factory has really good quality control btw. And so will their Texas and Berlin. Oh my really? That one Tesla Model S fire from 2012??? I don't even need to describe how stupid it is to mention ONE CAR and Tesla fixed that issue immediately! Oh and now he mentions an network error that happened ONCE in September 2020. You can bypass autopilot? Obviously. You can bypass any offline system if you wanted to. Also other car company's "Eye Tracker" can be tricked through a photo! Yep it's that easy.

You're pretty much a simpleton, aren't you. You do realize that none of the endeavours he's undertaken would have gone anywhere were it not for his investment, determination and drive? But of course that doesn't matter to you, does it. You think everything just happens, right?

as a 13-year-old im glad you pointed all these things out. i was too much of a dumbfuck to realize that elon musk is just our modern day equivalent to thomas edison.
Many tech billionaires, and others throughout the 20th century, have operated like Edison. Its not all bad though. Its more complicated than just 0 and 1.
@@TheShredworthy True, but it is sad to see that it is more about the money than innovations today

@@timotheetoury5097 There are a lot of problems with Musk, but this ain't it. The car's in a solar orbit, not earth orbit, and on test launches it's ordinary to send a dummy payload anyway, so it would have just been a hunk of concrete or something otherwise.
Is this Eberhard now the ceo of Lucid ?
Guidance councillor. Elon what do you want to be when you grow up?
Elon: A bond villain.
Guidance councillor: Which one?
Elon: Somewhere between Goldfinger, Drax and Carver.
One minor correction I have to make:
Sattelites cannot "change course" by a huge degree.
That would take a lot of energy, wich cannot be stored on such a satellite.
Small course alterations can be achieved, but the direction an angel of the orbit stays mostly unaffected.
So its not like an AI could randomly decide to crash random objects, like a boxing car,
becaus of the huge amount of inertial momentum, that has to be overcome.
Excuse me but "an angel of the orbit" is pretty funny 💀

I never liked Elon Musk and I especially dislike the way he basically replied "shame on you" to a report here in German media. It was about growing concerns in the local community that the Gigafactory in Grünheide will cause problems with the local, natural drinking water supply. It was just people expressing their concerns that there will not be enough drinking water for the people in the area anymore and the report as a whole was not in the slightest bit defamatory.
Really childish response.
And how is that problem going for u, is it somthing that has gotten worse?
