I just found your channel and your food options are so inspiring after just turning 70 and finding it harder to keep thin and fit. I’m back to resistance workouts and healthy food choices but running out of good ideas. I don’t want to go back on keto. Thank you!
Hi Bonnie, I’m just delighted that you’ve found me! You look gorgeous 🤩 fit and healthy and I hope that you can find some inspiration and ideas on my channel. Thank you! ❤️
These were great ideas! I loved the pizza of course, but the breakfast was looking really good as well. Thank you for the inspiration, you show that it is really not that difficult to eat in a healthy but also tasty way.❤
Hello Nancy, Your video prove that we don't need to starve ouself to stay healthy just great combinations and super ideas😃 Please, keep going to post videos🎉❤
Ohh yes this is a fantastic video! All of those meals and snacks looked amazing! The first snack remembered me of my pudding I sometimes have. I use either ricotta cheese or Greek yoghurt and add Faba bean protein powder. Blend them together with a dash of milk and put it in the freezer for about 20 mins. It's incredible! When you talked about the texture of the cottage cheese, another tip would be to use ricotta. It's smooth but quite similar taste wise. I also absolutely love frittatas and that pizza looked amazing. Thank you for also adding that you personally have more than 1200. I think that sends the message that if you have a higher TDEE, (like you do) then you can have more and still be in a deficit. I would so hire you as my personal chef 😄 or Will would be another great option! 😘
Thank you Rachel! I haven’t heard of Fava Bean protein powder!! Sounds like a great recipe 😋 You’re right, I took out some of the fats and carbs for this day, but of course adding in olive oil or brown rice to the dinner can easily bring up the cals for those not looking to maintain instead of cutting back! Thank you as always ☺️🩷
After everything I've been through, I honestly think keeping blood sugar stable so that your body isn't pumping out insulin is way more important than counting calories. I'm 5'2" tall and weigh 88 lbs. and don't limit myself to 1200 calories. Granted, I also don't stuff myself with food either...and I'm vegan.
Year ago i found out how much protein and kcal there is in Cottage cheese... i eat it daily. You can mix it with fruits for something sweet or with tomatos/garlic/basilicum for something savour. Has more protien then youghurt and less kcal and where i live it super cheap! plus mixing it like Mama tenny says makes the experience totally diffrent!!
I am always trying to find a dish I can make for my other half who loves shrimp. I can't eat shellfish, but chicken would be tasty. Just make extra sauce, and split it. Although better add more chicken to mine, because I know he will eat the shrimp one and the chicken one at the same time. Recipe sounds delish! Yum.
I like that you kept the video to 1200 calories but added the snack to make it a few more. All the meals looked delicious I just wish I had time to make them 😓
JUST COS I L❤VE U ALL ,PLEASE DON'T FEGET BRAIN HEALTH AT SOME TIME EVERY DAY AND I AM STILL TRYING TO ACHIVE AND REMEMBER THIS 1TEASPOON OR WHEN ADAPTED 1 TABLESPOON OF MCT OIL OR AT LEAST SOME OTHER GOOD Though a good mct oil is best cos the liver doesn't hv to even process i t will stop us from developing dementia for most people ❤❤❤❤❤
Really no excuse for people to be fat with filling food like that. Either laziness or mental health holding them back. Unfortunately until the poverty issue is resolved, mental health won't get better, and people will just think 'what's the point'... Even though they know it'll do them good.
I’ve lost 82lbs in the past year and I’d like to say that you and Will have been incredibly helpful and inspiring along the way! I still have a good amount of weight yet to lose but I’m determined to get there. Thanks to you both!!!! 💕
😳 mind blown. You could do a book with full days equaling 1200 calories! I’ve been doing it alllllll wrong. And ALL THAT PROTEIN!!’💪💪👏👏👏 amazing video!
That's the way to eat in a deficit, Mama T. A bunch of smaller meals spaced out, never get too hungry, never stuff yourself. That fasting thing is just too much suffering in between meals. Great video as always.
I totally agree! For some that have commented, 1200 is their maintenance cals! Yikes! This is meant more as an illustration of what you can eat on 1200 cals. Total daily cals would be different for for each individual depending upon how much of a deficit they want/need. The meals can be used by everyone and tailored to fit into their own plan. I am not suggesting a 1200 cal diet! Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
I'm usually a big fan of yours and your sons content but this is really dissapointing. 1200 calories is the requirement of a toddler. It's unsuitably low for adults and can cause long term damage both metabolically and mentally. Dissapointed you would choose such a low number as a frame of deference. 1200 is the notorious diet culture number, talking about BMR and AMR for an average man and woman would have been much more responsible
Hi Katy, thanks for your comment! I am not promoting a 1200 calorie diet simply presenting 3 low calorie meals and 2 snacks which could be used in whichever way works for that person. Some comments have said that the 1200 is too high as that is their maintenance calories. Each of us is different and we have totally different caloric needs. I suggested in my description that people could use these recipes when just looking for a light meal, when cutting or when dieting. This is not a meal plan. There is no one size fits all approach. This would be a deficit for me as I eat 1700-1800cals/day but would be ridiculous for a bigger person like Will who eats 3400 cals a day. He could still use the recipes though! I hope that clarifies my intent ❤️
I am older and very short 1200 is my maintenance if I’m not moving. I’m really happy to see how 1200 would look eating healthy food. Edited to add delicious too.
Love this! 👏🏻🤍 not in a calorie deficit, personally, BUT I am a volume eater, so I prefer lower cal options so I can have MORE of it😃👌🏻 huge bowl of berries over a tiny square of chocolate for me any day👏🏻💯✔

I can always count on you Jon! Drinking when I’m talking about alcohol consumption, bulking when it’s calorie deficit time😂 You’re keeping me on my toes! Are you away or on a “stay-cation”?
I assume you're like me with calories. I kept up the same steps, but I maintained at 2k for months then I went to 2500 gained 3 lbs went up to 3k gained 2 lbs and just stayed there weight wise. Logically I should of been losing weight when I was at 2k if I can eat 3k now right? But I'm about to go up again after 2 months of not moving on my average or medium weight. Was wondering with your experience is it possible your metabolism holds at what you're eating instead of what you should be eating? It's the only way I can explain what's going on with me
Hi there, I’m not sure that I’m following! You maintained weight at 2k cals while walking etc. you gained weight when you upped your cals and gained weight again when you added more cals. If you drop back to 2k cals you should drop a few pounds and maintain your lighter weight. Perhaps only doing the same exercise/steps you weren’t burning enough with the additional calories you added? Why are you going up again? I’m confused 🤪. Help me!
I was 139 at 2k cal, then I went to 2500 and went up too 142 after about 2 weeks, I now figure it was water weight. Then 6 weeks later I was still 142 at 2500cal, so I went to 3k in the first 2-3 weeks I got to 145-146 so I assumed that was putting weight on, But it's been about 2 months of eating at 3k and I'm now 144. So I was wondering how wasn't I losing weight when I was at 2k if 3k is my maintenance. Only thing I could come up with is my metabolism slowed down so at 2k and 2500 and 3k I'm not moving in weight. But at the same time that breaks the Laws of Thermodynamics right?@@MamaTenny
I suppose what I’m not understanding is, if you want to lose weight, why do you keep adding cals? Maybe add more steps or increase your intensity? Burn a few more calories that way and possibly give your metabolism a kick! Best of luck to you!! 💪🏼
Ive been watching Dr Gabrielle Lyon, Dr Mindy Pelz, and a few others and have learned that if you use 1200 calories a day to drop body fat REGARDLESS OF YOUR HEIGHT, your body will re adjust it's Deficit number and later, you'll have to cut down to 800kcals and pretty soon you'll be gaining weight on less than 800, so the best way to drop body fat is to aim for 40 grams of protein for three meals a day and try REVERSE dieting so that you can get in a lot more calories each day making getting in all the nutrients much easier so that you're not stuck eating chicken, lettuce, and zucchini your whole life The body STRIVES to hold body fat as a survival mechanism, which is great for droughts if youre a caveman but terrible if you live in a first world country- ha! So the reset of Maintenance calories by the body is lowered each time you 'diet' - hence why everyone gains it back and has to 'diet' AGAIN - prioritize protein and lift heavy
