John McEnroe is using his retirement to help train the next generation of US tennis stars. As well as hoping to discover the next American Grand Slam Champion, Mac and the team at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy are hoping to open up tennis to everyone in New York.

John is right that you shouldn't push kids too hard when they are young. They should just be having fun. Their brains and bodies can't handle the stress of competition until they are grown. It seems that his director and his saying, "you have to suffer for success" is contradicting what John said.
McEnroe is actually a very chill pup. I've got to meet him a couple of times just brief interviews and he signed a poster-sized photo I took of him in '90. So glad he is being True to the Game. I hope he has dedicated something in the hallways to his friend Vitas Gerulaitis, who should have long since been in the Hall of Fame not just for his tennis but his humanism. christopher-king.blogspot.com/2011/01/kingcast-ode-to-vitas-gerulaitis-man.html
Love a bit of the Mac!
A lot of the drills they were doing I do at my academy :) seems like a wonderful academy, too bad I live too far away tho (and I will never be as good as those kids...)
Why didn't they open an academy in Harlem? They seem to be in high income areas, yet he said they want to open one in the inner city?
Love John, be amazing if he catered to adults as well. :)
Now if we can just get McEnroe to crack some heads and shorten the tennis season to 5-6 months . . . .
McEnroe is one of the last very old school tenis players his forehand and backhand are really out of fashion, so I wonder what can he teach to younger players?
He probably has the best volleys in the history of tennis. I am not expert but I don't think new racquets have changed the volley that much, the bigger head size would make it easier, but McEnroe was really tricky at the net.
You cannot be serious
+Vectrime I think you mean 'YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!'

why people make video like this, for calling those kids future hopes and future stars, nobody knows that...and maybe 1% of them can make it
