Wow! I'm just starting my journey into pedals and was curious about stacking pedals. Glad to find a video that helped explain what's happening slowly at a time. Thanks!
My favorite combination is a Rat and TS. Rat might be a distortion pedal but so is the TS. I keep below ten o' clock and TS level cranked with gain around ten o' clock. Makes for never ending sustain. I find the Rat to make an excellent dirty Marshall tone and the filter knob is much more usable then just having a tone. I run the TS into the Rat.
The stack of the gods! Used to run the same, currently rocking a Boss SD1W into the Rat, very very similar but slightly less compressed and a bit more zing! God I love the RAT!
This is a classic stack (something screamer like and something tube amp like kinda). You can use anything od-3 like, most people use the BD-2 also you'll also see other TS like pedals, often the Timmy instead of a Tube Screamer but after because it can clip like a tube screamer but doesnt mid hump.
What about the other way around? I like the TS for my Marshall JCM800. It pushes the mids and brings the Amp out in in a band scenario. I may be wrong but if the TS is leading into the OD3, wouldn't the OD3 flaten the signal to the amp? If the OD3 was used to push the TS, the TS would still boost the mids into the amp... does that sound correct or am I not understanding how it works?
No, you’re right. I learned since this video the first pedal acts as a boost, so the gain should be minimal and the volume turned up, then the second pedal shapes the tone and gain. If you prefer the sound of the TS it should be last, but I’m not sure if the OD would be a good boost pedal in that setup
I have an OCD and a tube screamer. I want a third but trying to find the right combo. Ordered a danelectro daddy o....if it doesn't cut the mustard, I may get an od-3. Does it handle high gain well?
Someone knows if the mxr micro amp before of Od3 really sound good? I hace an OD3 over a clean amp and I don't know if buy a micro amp to put before of od3 for solos. Thanks and excuse my english. I'm argentine
Yeah, I really need to update this series. I learned way better tricks to boost the overdrive now. I wasn't really doing it right in this video. The first pedal needs the gain all the way down and the volume all the way up, that's how you boost the second pedal properly. But I'll post an update at some point, just been busy learning theory right now.
Listening with headphones... the mic picking up the string noise is distracting from the sound of speaker. Sounds like one mic picking up strings, your voice, and then the amp farther away. Not ideal for what this demonstration is.
I think your content and self confidence are a cool thing,,,thanks for being there Dylan.
Thanks Ray, have a great day

Thank you John, it feels great to hear that, cheers
Trying stacking these OD’s with distortion pedals (DS-1’s and Rats).
And/or swap the order around.
I love my OD-3!
DS-1 + RAT is a classic stack.

FWIW the Boss OD-3 came out in 1997. The Boss OD-1 came out in the late 70s, but they’re completely different circuits
Great video. I just bought the OD-3 and I'll definitely try stacking it with the TS mini. Going into Katana 50 as well.
Nice, both great pedals 👍
Drivin'!
yes sir 👍
Boss are best

Great demo! The OD-3 and TS work together very well - Tube Screamers push the midrange and the OD-3 has a more amp-like response. Subscribed!
I appreciate you brother, keep it rockin 🤘

@@ryj2848 od-3 is a great pedal, but I wouldn’t call it high gain, you’re probably looking for a Blues Driver Bd-2

Yes, the micro amp will work or you can use another overdrive, eq pedal, or a compressor. All of those will boost the signal
@@StompinGroundChannel thank you very much! I'll go for the MA or RC booster so
can you do a vid with an OCD pls ???

@@StompinGroundChannel Nice I use actually the same Mini TS (Drive 9pm/Tone 2pm/vol 2pm) to boost my OCD and a greer Lightspedd
Gain staging.
That is correct, sir.

Yep 👍
