I may never in my life have time to get that deep into my truck, and you've probably been in and out by now...but be advised: spot-welds are about as hard as diamond, so don't try anything but carbide on them. There's a purpose-built spot-weld remover bit I seem to recall that has a built-in pilot to center it until you've pierced the metal, followed by a jagged mini-holesaw kind of an affair (solid carbide) that then tears into the weld. Those were great...until they broke...
