I’m from Tennessee. And the biggest misconception about the people in Memphis is that they’re bad people that only rob, kill, and steal. But they’re highly misunderstood people. These people are fighting every single day just to survive… I love the people of Memphis, and I’ll never abandon them 💯❤️🤞🏽

Some of the most talented people I’ve ever met and some of the most respected people I’ve ever met. It is rough and a lot of corruption going on in Memphis and always has been. Be very careful in Memphis!

It was not always corrupt. Ask people who are over 40 and from here. It was and still is geographically located to be the distribution hub of North America. Which is what keeps Memphis from dyeing every year. But slowly and surely things are getting neglected that going passed the point of correction. When they did cut backs on the police and made it so unappealing that we eventually ended up being short over 400 officers in this city it turned the direction of this city and it will never be right again.

Your country is in Africa.
I visited Memphis last summer. We went to the museum where MLK was murdered and then went across the street, to another museum where James Earl Ray's vantage point was and viewed the room HE stayed in. Then we explored Beale Street. Had some cocktails and food at a couple of places down in there. The later it got, it seemed the wilder it was getting, so we bounced after a couple of hours. We took a boat right, at night, and sailed the Mississippi for a few hours. The boat had a DJ who played hip-hop all night. It was cool. It was just better for us to stay inside, than outside because there were sooooooo many bugs. We were originally sitting outside, but after 5 minutes, I think I got bit like twice by something, so we took it inside where there was A/C. We also visited an outlet, where they had a bunch of stores like COACH, Nike, Converse, etc., but it was in Mississippi. I was surprised how close Mississippi was to Memphis. I honestly wasn't expecting to travel into Mississippi, at all. I guess I can put Mississippi on a "state that I've visited" list. We went to a couple of clubs/lounges to eat, drink and listen to live bands in various other sections of Memphis that were outside of Downtown. Overall, our relatives, that live down there, now, showed us a good time, even though they don't really get out much themselves. The next time we visit, I want to go to the Slave Haven and go to the top of that triangular building, to see the Memphis skyline.
While downtown you should have crossed the bridge over the Mississippi River and you would have been in Arkansas and crossed that state off your list.

absolutely. it's about the way you conduct yourself. it can be the company you keep, but people living in drama and trauma will not continue to bring that energy to or around you if you don't feed into it. and you can be in it, but not of it.
years ago, i bought a duplex. after i bought, the cove changed. a bunch of adult dancers and their gang member boyfriends moved in, but it wasn't as bad as the block in the video. i had a few minor run-ins, but they knew I was a Christian woman, that I was grown and had no time for foolishness, that I would watch out for them (especially the women and kids), and i tried my best to be respectful of them. I had no kids, and i loved the women's children so much and looked out for them like an auntie. They also knew that I called the cops. Lol. Usually, to protect them and to prevent escalation of bad situations.
one man passed off drugs in front of my house and i asked him "please don't do that here". his response was "my bad, I'm sorry Ms. Katrina". much of whatever mess they did, they kept private. i didn't have central air, so i slept with my windows half-open, no bars. the guys that would congregate next door until 3 in the morning assured me, they were watching out for me. They literally would not allow anyone to mess with me.
after the last of the kids i was close to moved away, i felt the Spirit say it was okay for me to leave then. no matter where you are, Memphis, Chicago, Denver, Utah, Montana - you must follow God's lead and be in the place where He has assigned or allowed you to go. I'm not trying to get shot being in the wrong part of Memphis at the wrong time. Just like I'm not trying to be mauled by a bear or a mountain lion, being in the mountains if I'm not supposed to be.

I live in Memphis, but RUclips influencers only show the bad parts that most of us never visit. Memphis also has million dollar homes in luxurious communities. I’m not stating that we do not have an issue with crime, but it’s not all “hood” either.
Why don’t you film the rich shit? Other do, and you can easily find it on RUclips. Like watching a tennis match and saying, why don’t you show football more often.
@@ChrisMustList Wow. I respectfully offered my opinion. I didn’t use profanity to make my point.
Why film neighborhoods that are already thriving the whole point is to shed light on the less fortunate people. Maybe get more people involved in fixing communities that need it
@@ChrisMustList Damn chill
you already know. this is a narrative. the way they show Memphis becomes the world's perception. they want to show Memphians as all thugs, uneducated, won't work, etc. When you show a picture or tell a story, there should be balance. The neighborhood he filmed does exist in Memphis, but in my 32 years here, including time as a social worker, an insurance field agent (go to customer homes), and side gig delivery driver, I have never been on that block. and if i see a block with that much going on, I avoid it if i can. I'm not trying to dodge bullets for views.
I am no racist, but i tire of people that look like him tearing down Memphis and promoting this narrative. Terrible and dangerous place to live. "Don't get killed". The people in that city really need people like us to come in and make things better for them. Those same people have come in and bought up most of the city that they deemed too dangerous. either they own those slums that were shown or they gentrify the areas they want to claim as their own.
He drove down Elvis Presley Avenue, and although *some* of the apartments in that area (Whitehaven) can be run down and rough, many apartments are well maintained, and most of the residential neighborhoods are absolutely lovely. you just have to go one or two blocks off the strip. The direction he was heading in, there are $200K-$300K+ homes lining that street further down. Most of those neighborhoods are probably $80K (on the lowest end) - $400K on the higher end. Around $100 - $200K average now. But try to find a youtuber who will interview those people, in those BLACK neighborhoods. People that work, have stability, mow their lawns, support their families, raise and discipline their kids, own and run their own businesses. People that don't have time to stand around smoking blunts all day, wearing wife beaters, and throwing cats.
Show the hood, but also show the good. BALANCE
You hit the nail on the head.
Nashville is a lot happier.
