Your videos help me look at social media and news stories with much clearer eyes. I was contacted to be on a real estate podcast and it went well. The next podcast I was offered to be on wanted me to pay. I'm not selling anything so there was no value but that was the first time I'd heard about that.

I had a local news channel reach out to me because they "wanted" to do a story on my father's company because it would make such a great story, but eventually they slipped in the fact that they wanted us to pay them $5,000 for them to come by and do it. Lmao no thank you. Money is tight. Another news channel did a feature of us for free.
I also get similar sorts of emails for subscription boxes. They don't want to pay for product. They think they are paying us through "exposure".

That "insider told me the secret" bit from his spiel is stuff I've literally been seeing for decades from people selling "secrets of success".
This is the plot of Think and Grow Rich from Napoleon Hill. The book is from 1937 and Napoleon Hill was supposedly let in on the secret by Andrew Carnegie, and of course, the book didn't come out until Carnegie was dead and couldn't deny anything. This story is so outdated, it's unbelievable that people still believe in such obvious nonsense.
In celebrity gossip, a lot people (including myself) believe the Kashdarian/Jenner family pays tmz to publish stories about them. When tmz had a comment board, most of the comments were asking Harvey Levin how much he was paid to mention that family.
Of course. They also pay for fake Papparazzi to follow them & take pics. Most z list idiots do

MGK and Megan Fox seem to be in a similar situation. All I ever see is people talking about how they are tired of seeing about their relationship. They gotta be paying someone for the PR
I've been approached by many magazines/PR/salespeople asking for money to promote myself or my businesses. I could pay to have myself or my product featured in GQ, Forbes, Men's Health, etc., or speak at a big event, or receive a big reward like "Creative Agency of the Year". They would say, "think about all of the eyes and the credibility". But I couldn't do it- it never felt right. Part of me wants to do it just to expose the system or somehow make a mockery of it. Even actors are asked to pay I believe around $7k for each of their Emmy Award nominations. I know so much about this which is why I am finally starting my RUclips to show the life of a real lifelong entrepreneur.

Money can buy literally anything in this world… I got a college degree in Sports Marketing and dudes with no experience but lots of capital from their families have the upper hand and still get compensated more than those with a degree.

Traditional media is still (somewhat) respected because they have limited publishing space, and that's why they have to carefully consider who they feature. That went out the window when suddenly everyone has a platform that they can boost using money.

Buying fake press is actually kind of a scam. Nobody reads the fake news sites they usually get articles on and content quality is so bad its easy to fact check as made up crap most of the time.
Pocket watching with JT is an amazing RUclips channel!! He exposes all these scammers too. 🤣
I want to thank you for shedding light into the inner workings of the industry. I looked up to these gurus as a way to think about how to make the world a better place. But your content (and others like coffeezilla) have showed me that there's more than meets the eye. I've been able to adjust course and appropriately shift my expectations as a result. I truly believe that if I didn't come across this type of content, I would have spent a significant amount of energy and time on what is essentially an illusion. Thanks for the work you do.

holy crap never knew payed podcast was a thing but it defintely makes sense, i believe elon musk and jack dorsey were apart of this for the joe rogan podcasts considering theres alot of info out there documenting joe rogan on their payrolls

I mean… as someone who managed IT in a successful startup back in the early Noughties… getting exposure was pretty much pay to play by default when no one knew about the company and the product was something that didn’t exist in the market. Maybe I’m not seeing this the right way, but if those gurus want to pay to be featured in brainless 40 under 40 articles just to have their page framed in the lobby, I don’t care.
