    You make undesirable horses, valuable horses. By taking them out of those situations and giving them the chance they deserve, you make them better. Regardless if you sell them after all the process, they end up fitting better in someone else's life and the important part is making sure this beautiful creatures find peace and a forever home. Thank you for doing what you do! Sincerely.

    My horse came from auction. She had no training and the rescues mission for each horse they received was to “educate” each horse so they could become productive partners. Their philosophy was that if a horse was well educated it severely reduced their chances to end up back in a bad situation. I feel like you are doing the same thing here (which is amazing by the way). So if I had to come up with words for what you do I’d say you are a horse educator. You provide horses with all the tools they need to be good partners and in doing so this secures their worth in life by reducing the risk for them to end up in bad situations.

You see their strengths when no one else can and you make sure they're treated with love and respect. Putting their wellbeing first above everything else. Each and every one of your horses has been so fortunate to cross paths with you as it is so rare for any type of trainer to assess exactly what genre of work a horse/pony enjoys and concentrates on that., as opposed to pigeon-holing a horse into whatever type of work they enjoy teaching. You truly hear what a horse has to say.

    Oh young one - you are an Equine Rehab Rehomer (or facilitator if you prefer). And you have apparently taken over the job from me. In my 70's now, semi-retirement has its appeal.
    I was fascinated by your definition of "HeartHorse". In 1959 I (and I alone) coined the phrase - just as I coined the word "Equinist" which was my first license plate when I was (yikes) 16. And I was seriously pissed off when I tried to register on AOL as Equinist and it had already been taken.
    Your explanation of HeartHorse is pretty much on the mark but there are one or two things that I would say to you in that regard. A HeartHorse is simply the one horse who lives in your heart as you live in his - forever.
    Generally there is only one HeartHorse in a person's lifetime. You can love hundreds more but it's never quite the same. It's the horse who knows your thoughts before you do. It's the horse who makes you feel like your legs have been cut off when you're standing on your own two feet. I think you said it was a "soul thing", but it's more, it's a spirit thing. Two melded into one. I know you know.
    I was (am) a "Classical Equestrianne", both teaching and training in 3 day eventing toward USET. Look up George Morris or Ox Ridge on Wikipedia - and you'll pretty much know who I am. And then I met the lipizzaners. So I gave up my amateur status and turned pro.
    I enjoyed your explanation of the Canadian horse or "Chaval" which simply means "horse". (Canadian irony no doubt). I wondered if you knew about the Premarin production in Canada and it's need for constantly pregnant mares.
    There's a great deal I would say to you having just met you on the internet tonight, but not necessarily in a public forum.
    I pray you keep up the fine work you do for the benefit of both the horses and the young people fortunate enough to find your farm. There is no better place for a young person to grow into maturity than on a farm.
    And thanks for a peek into your life.
    I apologize for this lengthy message but somehow I just felt, for some unknown reason, that I had to connect with your life at this point. Enjoy every minute of it.
    ~~~~~MJG
    What you do is, healthy horse and beyond, horse trading. I realize you have a horse trading business and you teach as well, but your personal gift that you naturally have, and give freely to these animals is amazing. You have the gift of horse whispering with the natural knowledge of a horse almost like you’re part horse. What better combo could there be in having a horse trading and lessons business? It’s a perfect fit for horse, you and your students. It’s magic all around, everyday, and it all happens effortlessly because you do what comes naturally for you.
    When I had my horses this was a common type of horse trading business amongst horsy people. You, on the other hand, take these animals a lot further than some of the horse business people I knew but still it’s a horse trading and lessons business.
    I have to say that the horses that come to you are usually in some sort of marketable survival need. Then after your amazing natural insights, extended care and training they then come away with several, several notch’s up in marketable skills to help keep the from becoming slaughter pipe line horses, or so you hope.
    I fully support your business because it’s horse humane. From what I’ve seen and understood you to do with these amazing animals, you give them all of yourself, knowledge, a safe loving environment in which to learn and then all the daily needs and medical/dental etc., etc,. that is necessary and a responsibility when owning a large animal. As I look and understand what you do with these horses, I don’t think I could find better. I feel privileged being a social media observer of you gifts and talents in action. It’s been an enjoyable ride so far. Thanks Shea.
      @@freespiritequestrian Well now, you are rather contagious you know. LOL
      I really enjoy listening and watching you interact with your horses and your students. It’s all very pleasant, informative and enjoyable.
      Oh good! I thought using the terms ‘horse trading,’ might not be exactly current and in step with what your business might be called today.
      Then I was thinking that because you, Shae are doing what comes naturally to you that somehow you could incorporate that Eco Friendly, All Natural, idea to what your business is, and take advantage of what is more updated terms. I’m not thinking those are the terms as I’m not sure they describe your horse trading and lessons business, but find just the right terms that would fit your natural gifts and talents that you selflessly give to your business. Hmm… food for thought, if you follow my drift?
      I post them for sale and then through various questions and conversations I can weed people out who wouldn’t be a good fit. I have specific type of homes in mind when I go to sell, so I also think that’s very important for the horse. Again, I don’t adopt horses out, I sell them so it’s not a screening process but I have come up with my own mental checklist, and I usually can get a good feel for a good match. Of course I have a contract as well. Plus, I always research or tour the barn they go too ❤️.
    I agree with the "rehabilitation" term. Training and experience is time consuming and takes a lot of work, so he's a good horse for the new person. So, he can have a good life with a person, because he knows how to act and behavior stuff
    Interesting. I'd call what you do as Horse Rehabilitation. You take basically a green horse, find the horses/ponies talents and teach them a discipline they will enjoy, then find them their forever home. There really isn't very many people that do what you do.....therefore I consider that rehabilitation. It's really a calling as I know being a horsey person, that it is beyond difficult to sell a horse that you've put blood, sweat and tears on to then sell that horse/pony. I couldn't do it....I'd be in a constant state of misery. We own Appaloosa horses. To me they are the best breed along with POA's. POA'S are difficult to find here in Tennessee. I've been looking for one forever!!! I think your so lucky to have found 2 that are absolutely gorgeous, I love Olaf. He is my favorite. I also don't know how you will ever sell Charming, he's beautiful as well. Mine are as follows. Summer(black leopard), Jagger (chestnut near leopard), Perfect (champagne blanket), and Piper (bay roan)......they range in the 5-15 years old category. Jagger and Piper were born here. I owned their mom and she was a brood mare only, so she has moved on from our barn. However, Jagger and Piper had the advantage of being trained from day 1, by me and will never leave our home. Summer was my first horse I bought after being horse less for almost 20 years. She is my Autistic sons horse and will never leave. Perfect is a very unique champagne color and was abused in his first home. He was 300 pounds under weight. He also had trust issues. He'll never be sold as I won't take a risk of him ending up in another bad situation.
    I admire what you and your husband do, and enjoy watching you at auctions and the rehab program you use!
