The entire Rock in Rio concert from 2001 is a worthy experience. As a matter of fact is probably among the best live shows ever recorded not just by Maiden, not just in metal, but in music in general. Deep Purple’s live shows from Osaka and Tokyo (1972) are the same level and so is United Alive by Helloween from 2018
Yeah, you can really tell that with the return of Bruce and Adrian going 3 guitars. They were being written off as washed up and becoming a parody of their former selves , old washed up ect. This was them going "You sure about that?"
I think a lot of it is due to the main stream media. They rely on identity politics and keep harping over it. After a while it conditions it's viewers to see everything through race. The best way to describe the song and the title is to have her think of Braveheart. 👍
Any song from this concert is worth a listen. Bruce Dickinson - singer, songwriter, pilot, author, historian. And fencer. Even tongue cancer couldn’t defeat him. A truly talented individual.
Maiden is always about history and not about hurt anyone with their music and lyrics. There is another one you can show your lady from the same concert, it's called: The Sign of the Cross, Too bad RUclips won't play some good songs from Live After Death concert. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the best live from that concert for the way it was performed and so Running Free, Bruce on top of the world in this concert, great frontman and this concert was the band's best in my opinion
Having been a Maiden fan for about 20 years, since I was in my early teens, it is so awesome to watch people discover the absolute masterpiece that is this band and the Rock in Rio concert.
I may live in Texas, USA, but as A born and bred Scotsman, I LOVE this song. The oppressive English, the hardy Scots, 'The Auld Enemy'. Having a Scottish man as a founding father of the United States of America, and knowing Scottish migrants were instrumental in creating the regulators, who opposed and fought against ridiculous taxes from the English crown, that led to the war of independence, I am very proud. 1776, you are welcome. Sorry, I get VERY emotional about my Scottish history of English oppression. 256,000 fans, STILL listen to this regularly, amazing show, am very disappointed your wife saw race in this, without doing any research, of course not the case. Glad you did this
On their present tour - Legacy of the Beast - they only performed one Scottish gig, here in Aberdeen. This song, as you would imagine, went down a storm with the Scottish audience. Mention "clansman" in Scotland and nobody will think you're talking about the KKK. Encourage your wife to listen to it. It's about fighting for FREEDOM. PS "Phantom" and "Clansman" in one day! You're on a roll, my friend.
This song was originally recorded with Blaze Bayley and is one of the best live Iron maiden songs ever. Also bruce has said at a few concerts "the clansman with a c"
Back in September 2019 in Houston, prior to singing the Clansman, Bruce Dickenson made a disclaimer asking the audience when posting a video of it to make sure they spell Clansman wiyh a "C" and not a "K"
Love the channel guys, Iron Maiden changed my life when i got their first album for my, i think, 8th or 9th birthday...around 1980...great to see you having the same enjoyment from their music as i still do. There are so many songs and live performances that i love. Back in the village and flash of the blade, to tame a land, tears of a clown...from rock in rio, sign of the cross, paschendale from death on the road...so many, keep rockin and up the irons!
@@aaronbayley6083 These were literally the first two Maiden tunes I properly listened to. I'd heard Run to the Hills before, but when I actually sat down and said "OK I'm gonna check these dudes out" it was Flash and Duellists, and I never looked back
Awesome!!🔥🔥🔥 this song and The Sign of the Cross are the best of the Blaze Bailey era, and with Bruce singing them they just come alive!!!! With these two the live versions are the way to go! Love this performance🤘 This is one of the best concerts of all time. The band was just A-1 on every song.
I enjoy a lot to see Janick performing here, he loves this song, he jumps, he dances and put all his heart... He is a co-writer of this song which was made when probably most of them missed a lot Bruce...
The 'other' singer you refer to is Blaze Bayley. He is actually really good. Some people don't like him because he isn't Bruce. I once introduced a friend to Iron Maiden with the song Virus which is amazing. If you react to that make sure it is the full version and not the shortened video one. If you want some less common Iron Maiden to listen to, try still life or where eagles dare. If you want epic like this clansman song try Sign of the Cross from the same rock in Rio gig
My first Maiden album was X-Factor, I enjoy Blaze and have a couple of his solo albums. However, when I first heard Bruce on the next Maiden album I bought there was no going back. I just enjoy Bruce’s voice over Blaze, still enjoyed Virtual XI when it came out, but when the news dropped that Bruce and Adrian were rejoining Maiden you just knew that it would be awesome. Bruce also did some excellent solo stuff too.
I personally enjoy every singer, Paul Day and Dennis Wilcox where's the first two singers before Paul di'anno , they didn't make any records but they did sing with Iron Maiden, I'm a fan of Paul, and Blaze, and Bruce, I think they're all good, and I really hate when people just say people don't like any other singer you act like no one liked them, you should reword what you say, it's disrespectful, I really wish Iron Maiden would do a show with all three lead singers that would be awesome, UP THE IRONS
FYI, if you listened to the studio version it'd be Blaze on vocals, not Bruce. If you wanted to hear Bruce on this song it would have to be live. Love your reactions, keep it going!!
A little history behind this performance my friend. Prior to this tour Bruce left the band to pursue a solo career. Adrian had left the band after Bruce. Iron Maiden did this tour in 2001. The REUNION of Bruce and Adrian after 10 years being gone. This was the last show of that tour. I saw them on that tour and it was a sight to see live. I'm really glad you and your wife discovered them... UP THE IRONS! MY FRIEND! 🤘💀🤘
You made the right choice going with the live version. The studio version was on one of the album's when Bruce Dickinson was on a break from Maiden. The album version isn't bad at all but Bruce owns this song.
First let me say thank you for this reaction! Just hearing that song again gave me goosebumps and almost put a lump into my throat.. they were here in Denver Colorado 6 days ago and I got to be one of those in the crowd that was screaming along "FREEDOM"!!! THEY PUT ON AN AWESOME SHOW! My wife bought me tickets back in December for my birthday and it was the best birthday gift ever! Hopefully you were able to get your wife to listen to that song and if not maybe you can do another video with her and her reaction. If they ever come back on tour and if you haven't already I highly recommend seeing them live...
I think your wife did miss out on reacting to the song but thanks for reacting yourself another thumbs up glad I subscribe to your channel. Thanks and take care. See you on the next video:)

Some other great songs to check out is “Hallowed Be Thy Name”, “2 Minutes to Midnight”, “Revelations”, “Number of the Beast”, “Wasted Years”, “Killers”, “Aces High”, “Children of the Damned”. Blaze bayley is amazing for this song but this live version gives me goosebumps every time and seen it live in Scotland with 9000 Scots shouting freedom

When I went to see them live I think it was last summer, Bruce Dickinson specifically said before playing this song:
"Clansman... with a 'C'" LMAO
Did the same thing when they were in Pittsburgh
Did the same when I saw him in Toronto: "For any Americans in the audience, I want to be clear: this is Clansman with a C!"
Hahahaha I love it. He must have said it for the entire North American leg. I was in Philadelphia
Over here in NYC he said to be careful how we spell it 😂
Chicago got the same treatment, lol
Your wife's reaction was unfortunate, Clansman is not Klansman.
She missed a great song for a ridiculous reason my friend.
