I’ve been using the Surf Rider III for about a year now. Killer tones out of that pedal. Almost like a Shadows sound. I think the difference is this one has some extra warble in it like chorus and three different tank settings. RJ Ronquillo is an amazing player and I always enjoy his demos. But you won’t be disappointed with this purchase if you’re looking for this sound. It pairs well with overdrive and other reverbs as well.
@@stevenbatke2475 honestly I never want to switch mine off! I’ve been running it with a Wampler Tumnus (Klon centaur clone) and adding a Source Audio True Spring reverb for even more far out verb. All of that through a Roland JC40. It works quite well!
Good day 😊 Even sometimes it sounds like reverb, Hank Marvin didn't use reverb. He uses a multi head delay with a short and long delay combination wich gives the unic Shadows sound. There are a few vids on YT were he explains an demos his delay settings. I also was on the reverb train for many years trying to copy the Shadows sound but comparing side by side you clearly recognize the difference.
So this version definitely dives deeper in the spring reverb effect but I noticed it doesn't have the boost switch or an expression jack. I do love the sound though
Im not sure if i missed it in the demo, but did you experiment with the drip to see how it compares to a 6g15 fender spring tank? I saw you do it with the tank selector in the left settings, but not in the center setting. I have a surfy bear v1 original and an ehx oceans 11, but im intrigued how this fares against those 2 pedals... Any input is welcome.
Is there a 'kick' button, to get that huge crash sound when you kick a real spring tank? I think one of the old Danelectro pedals had a kick pad to give you this effect.
@R.J. Ronquillio no harm! But U went on air same exact time as P.Thorn! I no it's just a wild thing, but I love U and Pete had a great song sets 4 SG-FX, & both R killer TY as always L-burg TN, great work brother hope 2 C U do 1m. Drum set jam-n soon God Bless
@@lapetitenation360 I must agree and I will always keep mine for the big board, but for the smaller quick potable one. This just might be the ticket. I have the Oceans 11 but RJ made this one sound really good. Iwent ahead and bought one got shipping notice today.
You want something with a lot of clean headroom. Fender piggyback amps from the early to mid 60's (Showman, Band Masters, and sometimes Bassman) are the go-to for most surf players. If you don't want to mess with tubes and the ridiculous weight, Quilter Tone Block heads with their 15" cabinet weight less than half as much and put out 200w. If you're going as far as buying an amp for surf, I highly suggest getting an outboard spring reverb unit and ditching the pedal. The Surfy Bear is a great product if you don't want the hassle of the Fender tube unit.
Sweet! Playing in one of my favourite modes, the "Depeche" one.
Could listen to RJ for hours - excellent and thoroughly comprehensive demo of this pedal
Best demo of the pedal so far. RJ you are a killer (guitar player) in the best sense! #weiterso

I just picked up version 4, and it’s surprisingly natural sounding. Maybe a little more blackface sounding than 63 reverb head, but it’s incredible.

I just bought a v3 for the boost option but I hope I didn't mess up not getting this v4 with 3 tank settings.

This pedal is my new surf buddy!!! Awesome playing as always R.J.!
That intro jam was solid gold! Errr... you know what I mean. 😳😻
Awesome playing as usual, R.J.. Sounds like a 60's spy movie song!
LOVE it!
I think you covered it well

Surf-Jazz, one of the Depeche modes. Cool.

This intro should be recorded and released as a single.
RJ is the coolest cat and has best stank face on the RUclips!

Nice intro dude ! Strange love drip 🧑🎤🎶🕺 love that guitar too !
If I find myself needing a spring reverb pedal (which I may ) I'd look no farther than this one. I like everything about it.
I’m curious as to why his finished nova guitar wasn’t shown in his build a guitar series…
What guitars are you using in this video?
Good jams! Just bout one
Very cool and strange Love

is the pitch vibrato post reverb or pre?
Wow! totally Cool and smaller than the Surfybear
But does not have a real spring like the surfybear.

@@robertmcdowell6936 How is it?
@@shckltnebay I love it, it's perfect on my practice board. I still love my Oceans 11, but this was a great addition.
So much drip 🏄
That guitar visually looks tasty like I could take a bite out of it. Like candy colored. One day I’ll save enough to buy a novo
Thanks a lot man … now I have to get this version of the Surf Rider also … 😳🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😩 🏄♂️ 😋🤣
What’s the best amp for the best surf tone?
