I agree with a previous comment. This is the best demo of this guitar I have seen. Your talent, dynamics, and tonal sensibilities are leaving most RUclipsrs in the dust.
insanely cool tune and playing. amazing surf rock, perfect tone and amount of spring reverb. gets up and rocks really well with drive too. keep coming back to video mainly for the tune. way groovy
I've been watching this Meteora videos all day, and have seen some great playing. But the opening jam here what that guitar is MADE for. RJ Ronquillo FTW as always!
No it isn't. This guitar is made for anything; that's why it's got the coil split, the flatter radius, & the 2-point trem, not a wimpy Jag/Jazz Master trem. This is an all arounder. I get fanboying out, but let's be honest w/ourselves ffs.
RJ is one of the tastiest guitar players of the channels I frequent, he always leaves me wanting more, instead of grating on my nerves like many of them do (maybe I'm getting old, but distortion usually makes me feel bad anymore). There are many great guitar players technically speaking, but musically there are only a few that are great musicians playing music that makes me feel good, which is what all art should aspire to imho. RJ plays music accessible to "normal" people who aren't guitar players - he's a musically gifted guitar player, who also has technical chops that blows me away, but he plays to the music instead of trying to cram in as many notes as possible (that kind of playing gets tiresome to me). I especially love his blues playing, or even where I first found him doing Guild demos - those videos are still rocking me after all these years - classic playing by a classic player!!
A little over a minute in there are very straty single coil tones before he gets some EVH crunchy chords. Must have switched between the 'buckers and the single coil tap. Lots of different tones. Great demo.
Nailed the genre for this guitar on the intro. Slayin' it with a nod to those old Eastwood vids. This guitar has that kind of vibe, right down to the name!
Great playing and tone!!! Just came from another video demo of this guitar where from the beginning the guy had tons of distortion on it so you couldn't even hear the natural tone of the guitar anywhere in the video
I think what I love the most about this guitar is that it’s so usable for ANY kind of music and such a wide variety of tones, but it’s still got that iconic Fender sound. They really made this the Fender of the future that sits with the pantheon of already great and iconic guitars.
Great playing it's the perfect guitar for what u played. Seems like it would shine with country tone as well. Out of everyone demoing this guitar your the only one convinced me I might want one . Other reviews killed the tone of this guitar . Great job thank you
Wow that's seriously a sexy beast! I feel like this is the guitar that GIBSON should have have come up with & instead Fender out Gibson'd, Gibson. This is really the first Fender I've ever seen & heard that I've wanted just as it is right out of the box!
@@barbmelle3136 I didn't really think in that aspect but I do see it now. I also keep in mind how both companies seem to cross the lines between their designs.
I love Fender man, all the different body shapes and looks speak to me. (Also the feel of their guitars) I eventually wanna have at least one of every body shape they have. Lol
As always amazing. Do you have any intentions on putting out a video to help people getting into surf rock? I love the sound of this and I would love to get more out of my Danelectro as your channel really made me love it more. This ax sounds great too by the way. Really digging the wide range pickups.
Agreed, thank you RJ. This is the best demo of the Meteora that can be found. The split coil seems like a killer option, lots of tone options here. Fender, .. I still think this model deserves a unique headstock.. don’t be lazy.. I’m available if you need a design😉
Gonna trade my fender performer hss strat in 4 a Meteora..it just sounds incredible..been debating on a humbucker equipped guitar..Rj..really helps to showcase the tones..killing it as per usual..Thanks
Thats a great guitar, but your skills are amazing!!! You really put that guitar up to a top-shelf instrument. Great job. Fender should pay you 10% for every Meteora that they sell!!!
That sounded great. Searching in the description and comments on what Spring type Reverb you used with no luck. What was that crazy deep, springy verb being used?!
I’m a poor. I want the sun burst version so badly. I’m saving up for it. Trying to put aside at least $5 every day until I have enough. I haven’t wanted a guitar so badly since I had my first crush on the strat when I was a wee lad. I can’t wait until I get this thing purchased and set up. I might want the silver bust version too. I’m not sure which one I like more.
Lovely guitar but even lovelier playing. Where can I learn to play that cool surf song? Does anyone know a good teacher that makes videos here on youtube?
This is one quirky guitar man... exactly what they're going for and nailed it..very chimney trebly..this would be interesting to hear through an ac30 or similar amp that's bright as well..this reminds me as well of a guitar line you just recently reviewed..you may even own one.. memory shit this morning..lol..vola perhaps?
Everything except for the awful looking Pau Ferro fretboard is AWESOME. Of RJ's playing makes a huge difference, but overall I will seek to acquire one of these really soon...
What effects are you using during the drop D tuning? It kind of sounds like a sweet spot for that guitar. Also, are you aware if it has more than just dual hum bucker routing? I’ve seen some examples of hsh, HSS, hh , sss etc. I’m just wondering if you know what the route figuration is underneath the Pickguard? Please don’t feel obligated to look.
How do you get the twangy heavy tones? Been trying for years to get the spaghetti western/surf twangy lows. I know it's clean with reverb but I have like 12 guitars and struggle to get/keep this tone as well as you have.
That’s a good looking guitar without being too ridiculous , sounds good too, Fender has their thinking caps on while Gibson continues to wear the same old Fedora
OK I just can't trust his demo's. You could hand this man a shovel with a string on it and he would make it sound incredible. Then we would all want to run out and buy shovels and the prices would skyrocket 🙂 Seriously, I love listening to him play. It's almost Zen like the way he gets into the groove. Love your videos. Please keep them coming. Thank you.
I don’t get something tho, I love it but it still sort of sounds like a single foil guitar like it’s not too far off from my American Tele 🧐 did they purposely voice these humbuckers to not sound like humbuckers?
Now that Gibson and Fender have the most famous guitar channels releasing videos on new products in synch (it's a conspiracy I tell you!), it becomes more like advertising and marketing their new products, and you won't see too many negative reviews. They often provide some constructive criticism, for Fender and Gibson "geniuses" to chew on, maybe incorporate into future versions. As for this Meteora: it sounds good, appears well balanced, and all reviews seem to be favorable. I would probably rather have the telecaster with those two pickups, volume and tone for each pickup, rather than that design. I'm not that into offsets, and that is even more offset than the offsets. But if I ever had a chance to play one, that might change my perspective radically. It sounds great, those pickups don't disappoint - wide frequency indeed.
I am and always will be a huge fan of telecaster. I owe the 52 vintage reissue USA made since 1996. During all these years I never accepted any other shape than the classics STRAT TELE LES PAUL SG RIC JAG JAZZ MASTER ETC the meteora is the the FIRST guitar looks that draw my attention It is All !!! Classic modern vintage future. Great for blues rock surf hard rock shredding metal. Modern radius twangy sound but also beefy HB SOUND I CAN'T WAIT TO YEAR IT WITH A.....................SOLA SOUND TONE BENDER FUZZ!!!!!!!!!!
Normally am bit of a traditionalist ref guitar shapes, but kind of like it. And sounds great in a ton of different ways. However I'm sure I could make it sound like a pile of ..... 😆
As a intermediate guitarzan slinger.. i can say this guitar ..rips bites n chews..blahhaha..oh yeah..beauty looks..sweet tones..it really kicks er out!!
Man , this is by far the best demo of this guitar. No one and i mean no one else can touch this.
On oo8ooio hi
rich bischoff gets some pretty nice tones..great playing too
6
thanks to this demo..I now am the proud owner of the bel air blue meteora..flipping rocks..Thanks RJ...
Hey i had same guitar but it is not fitting in any hardcase plz help dude any suggestion
@YR music I got wood working buddy custom build 1..
I agree with a previous comment. This is the best demo of this guitar I have seen. Your talent, dynamics, and tonal sensibilities are leaving most RUclipsrs in the dust.

@@JeighNeither , yeesssh you’re so right.
Out of all the videos I watched on this guitar. Your video was the best in showing the guitar versatility.. thanks
That intro jam sold more of these guitars than any Fender advertisement😁
That was some smoking surf rock! The Meteora sound great.
That Meteora is just gorgeous! It does beg for surf rock.
Outstanding! 🍻
And NuMetal
Well that's the review I needed. New subscriber!!
RJR you Sir make that puppy sound better than anybody I've checked out to date,,, Not a Shock
thats the best demo for this guitar
love your reaction to that clean bend at 1:18. Just ordered mine, can't wait
I just gotta say you put a smile on my face. Great playing.
It's a cool looking guitar for sure. Perfect for the style of surf music you're playing too....
No complaints here. Can’t wait to play one
A little over a minute in there are very straty single coil tones before he gets some EVH crunchy chords. Must have switched between the 'buckers and the single coil tap. Lots of different tones. Great demo.

R.J. Just love your playing on this demo, very tasty yet technical covering many styles. Hats off to you bro.!

Best demo of this instrument I have heard and seen ! You really put it thru it’s paces ! 😎🎸👍🏽🎶
Looks and sounds amazing!
This guy prods that Fender into sounding like a Tele, Strat, SG, and when clean almost like an acoustic. Amazing.
Man, what a tasty, amazig, mesmerizing playing and the guitar is super cool
First Fender (in quite a while) that has me interested.
Cool sounding like a tele but more attack, more rock. And class - very clean!
Wow that's seriously a sexy beast! I feel like this is the guitar that GIBSON should have have come up with & instead Fender out Gibson'd, Gibson.
This is really the first Fender I've ever seen & heard that I've wanted just as it is right out of the box!
I see it as a natural evolution if the JazzMaster / Jaguar guitars. I really like it too
@@barbmelle3136 I didn't really think in that aspect but I do see it now. I also keep in mind how both companies seem to cross the lines between their designs.
very cool playing
That is a cool guitar. I will have to check one out sometime.
I love Fender man, all the different body shapes and looks speak to me. (Also the feel of their guitars) I eventually wanna have at least one of every body shape they have. Lol
Totally see that guitar in a different light now great demo and and killer playing mate you set a standerd of a pro hope fender appreciate it lol 🤟
Checks all my boxes! I hope to see some of these in the Philippines.
Man you could make a plastic toy guitar sound great. Good on Fender for trying something new. Great vid bro. Peace and Love from Sydney Australia
very good demo. i´m proud owner of a silverburst. killer guitar
You are so lucky and blessed to have all these beautiful guitars and amplifiers.
Insanely good playing R.J. Loved it.
Great demo best in you tube. I like it played w distortion. Humbuckers !
Sounds great. It just looks sooooo cool!

I love the sound of this and I would love to get more out of my Danelectro as your channel really made me love it more. This ax sounds great too by the way. Really digging the wide range pickups.
Nice tones. Every few years Fender has some cool retro ideas...
Seems to be a Jack of all tones. Sounds great!
Agreed, thank you RJ. This is the best demo of the Meteora that can be found. The split coil seems like a killer option, lots of tone options here. Fender, .. I still think this model deserves a unique headstock.. don’t be lazy.. I’m available if you need a design😉
Player series Guitars are awesome.
awesome playing, just wow, and it'd be with any guitar in your hands
Oh Yeah Ronster.. Rippin it Up Dawwgg ☺☺😎👊💯 That's a Beautiful Looking and Sounding Piece.. Giving Big Ups to Fender on That One 😎💯💯
I'm in as soon as Fender releases a limited edition reverse Meteora.
Beautiful sounding and looking guitar and totally brilliant playing ,, WOW !!!! 😍🎸👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This guy is the best guitar player in the world.
RJ can rock it all!👊
I like the finish reminds me of surfing in summer time. I'd add a black pickguard tho.
RJ "The King of Licks" RONQUILLO 🧨
Great playing! I just bought the bass!
Very nice! Modern day Jaguar/Jazzmaster. Looks alot like a Reverend Jetstream/Double Agent.
I pray this guitar brings many people to Orthodoxy ☦️ It is named after one of our monasteries!
Great playing RJ!
No because orthodox is just off brand catholicism
Cool
Yes, I like it.
Wow beutiful guitar fender meteora 😍
That jam in the beginning had me thinking of Crash Bandicoot 2.
The river levels have awesome vibes
Gonna trade my fender performer hss strat in 4 a Meteora..it just sounds incredible..been debating on a humbucker equipped guitar..Rj..really helps to showcase the tones..killing it as per usual..Thanks
Very cool intro.
LOL I thought you were going full Nokie there for a minute, I concur
Perfect
brilliant!
Thats a great guitar, but your skills are amazing!!! You really put that guitar up to a top-shelf instrument. Great job. Fender should pay you 10% for every Meteora that they sell!!!
The intro to Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress would sound pretty stellar on that.
That sounded great. Searching in the description and comments on what Spring type Reverb you used with no luck. What was that crazy deep, springy verb being used?!
What is the intro song i want to listen to it everyday!!!! Its so sick!!!
Bravo!👏 Great playing as always. Sounds like a jazzmaster.
Jazzmaster? Nah
This guy just sold every one of these for Fender!
I saw a bunch of channels online reviewing the newest Meteora but I was all, "I'll wait until R.J. plays it beca- OH, IT'S OUT!" ;-)
I'm impressed (but just bought a Player Plus Strat)
I’m a poor. I want the sun burst version so badly. I’m saving up for it. Trying to put aside at least $5 every day until I have enough. RJ to the rescue again. 💥💪
I’ll probably buy one bit of course I would install an on and off switch. It’s just my thing. It’s like a toggle
Lovely guitar but even lovelier playing. Where can I learn to play that cool surf song? Does anyone know a good teacher that makes videos here on youtube?
Weight would be interesting. Fender tends to have heavy guitars in their unusual more quirky ranges.
How does the neck split sound, I only see you demonstrate humbuck neck, H middle, H bridge, split bridge and split middle.
R.J., what are your thoughts on the Charvel Guthrie Govan signature guitar?
This is one quirky guitar man... exactly what they're going for and nailed it..very chimney trebly..this would be interesting to hear through an ac30 or similar amp that's bright as well..this reminds me as well of a guitar line you just recently reviewed..you may even own one.. memory shit this morning..lol..vola perhaps?
The guitar is sick for sure... but I'm almost digging the track more! (almost)

It needs a reverse headstock!
I don’t get something tho, I love it but it still sort of sounds like a single foil guitar like it’s not too far off from my American Tele 🧐 did they purposely voice these humbuckers to not sound like humbuckers?
Mejor demostración que los videos de fender y fender Japón

Dang R.J.! You should play surf tunes at Tiki Oasis!
I just wanna see it in Olympic white.
They should call it the "shark". They should do a 3 pickup strat configuration.
Needs the layout like Chris Tapp’s
Sick guitar sick playing… just sick 🤕
That's Waaayyyy cooler than the Theodore...
Yeah about 4K cooler!
