Kind of a compliment. Wes Borland is maybe the most underrated riff writer in metal. Some badass epically heavy riffs.
And honestly this was recognisably Linkin Park-y anyway. Nice work Agu

    • @tomwilson9010

@@sEaNoYeAh Oh it was in no way a slight! Wes Borland is an absolute riff master and incredible artist, both musical and visual. I was trying to put my finger on why it sounds more Borland than LP... other than "feel," which is hard to put into words, I think it was the choice of harmonics. They are a bit more jarring (in a very good and musical way) that reminds me more of Wes as opposed to the more "natural" sound of LP's harmonics. Maybe someone else can better articulate it if they understand what I mean.
Agu is the man. No disrespect intended.

That isn't tape on the frets, it's lacquer from when they sprayed the neck. On a lot of maple fretboard guitars Fender generally seats the frets, sprays the lacquer for the neck over them and then levels them taking off only the finish that is on the crowns. The rest of the lacquer is left on the frets and will eventually start peeling off when you play it.

I have two Meteorae. And a Meteora bass.
Meteora are actually the MIM Fender Reverend Billy Corgan BC1/Z-One Player Plus series. They make a LOT more sense when you think of them that way, and play Pumpkins style of music with them, ie. long pretty cleans, crushing downtuned high gain, massive walls of fuzz.
The stock pickups sound a lot like Gibson 57s, think Gibson SG and try playing some Sabbath with your Meteora (I have a Gibson SG with 57s and it sounds very very close to the Meteora, and yes I know Iommi used P90s wired to like 17k, but stick with me here because...), but when you roll back the Meteora tones and volume, they kind of turn into a P90-ish sound.
The Meteora coil split sounds are anywhere from Strat to Tele to Jaguar to Mustang depending on where the volume and tone knobs are at.
    These are incredibly versatile guitars.
You should hear the Meteora with the RailHammer Billy Corgan pickups and the Reverend bass contour wiring.

Sadly, I think I'd really want to replace the bridge humbucker on this to something higher output, adding to expense and effort. Still haven't closed the door on this, though. Maybe Fender will take another bite at it, including bringing back the fixed bridge.

that is a fun guitar to play. I swapped my pups for a set of Fishman's of course lol and it sounds like a mean bitch now. The guitar was gifted to me from someone that hated it but when I picked it up it played really good and I was able to pull pinch harmonics out of it quite easily so I took it home with me and swapped the electronics and have been playing the shit out of it ever since. my primary axe is my Ibanez prestige also with Fishman's and this fender sounds as good if not better in someways. Definitely still like the neck on my Ibanez way better but it doesn't take away from the Guitars play ability and sound at all. That one's going to be a keeper. and yes you are correct, it is ugly as fuck but that also doesn't take away from its playability and sound. I would have never purchased it in 1 million years but when someone gave it to me and I discovered how great it was now I'm kind of in love lol. Great video Hunter.

I had the same issue with the film on the frets with my Player Plus Tele. It’s excess tint / oil or whatever they rub on the board and neck. I had to use a razor blade to get it off the sides of the frets and then polished the frets with steel wool. Took care of it, but for a guitar in this price range, it’s pretty unacceptable.

Just bought my first Fender Telecaster - Fender isnt shy about taking you on a journey thats for sure. First tele was a Player Plus in Cosmic Jade. Loved the push/pull tone combos and the 12 inch radius neck - but - the bridge design is awful. The saddle screws on E strings drop into the bridge mounting screw depressions. I could not get the guitar to intonate no matter what I tried, the B and high E string rattled at the nut, and the frets looked awful; yellowing of the clear coat over the top of them looked awful and they had tooling marks all over them. I spent 3 hours on cleaning/polishing and still couldnt get them completely clean of the clear coat dull sheen (this was a brand new guitar by the way). The music store offered to trade me for another one like it hoping it would better - it wasnt. Same saddle screw issue, same intonation issue, and the frets were even worse on this one. These guitars are $1k. I got my money back. I looked at other Player Series models in the store but still found issues with the frets/fret sprout, cracks in the finish in the neck pocket, blemishes, bad nut, etc. Went on Sweetwater and bought a regular Player Series limited edition telecaster. Saved myself about $200 and the guitar came exactly as I would expect a new Fender to be. Its not perfect, but its a far cry better than any of the others I looked at in the music store. This is exactly why I have avoided buying Fender guitars, but I have had great luck with my JV series MIJ Strat and I had to have a tele!

I think it would look much better with a slightly less obvious Stratocaster headstock.
As it is, it's almost a Partscaster, but admittedly, a quite nice one.
    A touch expensive though.
My favourite is the faded blue, Bel-Air.
Hope that Fender have used paint/varnish that is much more durable. A 'relic' version of this guitar would look bad.

I had the same little flakes on the fretboard of my player plus strat. They will eventually wear off and go away

I still say, this would look much cooler with the STARCASTER headstock

Christmas Kringle - are you in Southeast Wisconsin? As for as I know (because I live in that area), that's the only place that does kringle in any amount (I've had more than my fare share of that pastry over the years - O&H Bakery are the masters of kringle). The Meteora? Welllll, nice sounding guitar, but I'd prefer a hardtail, and a bit chunkier neck than the Modern C profile neck they come with.

Pro tip: 10-minute video; can actually hear what the guitar sounds like briefly at 7:48 and one other time after that.

The Meteoras are cool guitars in my opinion, but i wish they'd make a reverse body version to dick kick Gibson for not making the RD a standard run guitar.

Anyone who has a Meteora come join the Fender Meteora and offset rarities and join the family! Thanks

Necks on Fenders still seem too thin and the fretwork is hit or miss.
