  • I've been using both the Q1 Pro and the V1 interchangeably over the last few months and, as always, I have some feelings to share.

Ohhh those mint coloured keys are so nice against the black. I prefer the aluminium to plastic, always feels more sturdy.

I almost always go for the aluminum board too, or sometimes the wooden one, but I like to try out different keycaps on my plastic V1 all the time. It's such a game for me.

Thanks so much for the video, I was looking to get one of these for Christmas and there were like no videos comparing the two. Thanks!

Glad I could help! There are only a few main differences here but I'm selling my Q1 Pro this week because the V1 gets the job done perfectly. I bought a V5 today too so I can try a larger layout.

After fumbling around with different Keychrons, I ended up getting a low profile K1 Pro and then fitted taller MT3 caps.
I had the K13 and its just too thick sitting high off the table.

You put MT3 caps on a K1?! That's awesome! I think the best marriage of the Keychron boards is the Q11. I use that in my office a lot with Cherry profile keycaps. My KSA caps live on my V1 now.

Great video! Do you miss the height adjustment on the Q1 Pro?

Not at all! I never use the adjustable feet on the V1 anyway and after using them both back and forth so much this week, it almost seems like the Q1 Pro is too steep for me...

@@KeebHoarder Thank You Sir! Very helpful! I hope there are at least a couple of new boards for you under the X-mas tree! Would also be interesting to know which keyboard you grab when you need to do some work. Since you have some options.

The board I use the most is my V1. I have a Q11 set up in my basement with the old iMac that I'm typing on now but at my actual desk I go between 2 V1s and a Q1.

You should check out the v1 max, it has a gasket mount, bt5.1 and 2.4hz with 1000hz polling rate (it also has 2 dongles, one usbc and one usba, which is pretty cool). Unfortunately doesn't come in the translucent black and only in carbon black.

I want to get one of those Max boards! I just got a Q1 Version 2 last week because I liked the color...I need to review and sell a few boards to make room in the budget for a V1 Max and a Q0 Plus Max!

Could you mod a V1 to be gasket mounted?
    my ideas are like
    a) not using the srews to fix PCB to case
    b) vile down / cut / clip the mounting stems
    c) add self made gaskets to the case I think of these blocks of rubber/latex foam you get in hardware stores
    d) put some dampener between PCB and top of the case
Maybe You have even better ideas

dude. You have given me so many ideas! I already invested in a bunch of foam adhesive parts on their way from China. I'm gonna try using this board tonight without it being screwed to the case and I might try clipping those mounting stems a little and maybe even trying the o ring mounting mod I saw Keybored do one time.

If the keyboard is O-ring-Mod compatible,
alcekeys made a very cool video on his
Bumpon O-ring Mod ruclips.net/video/uxe9FUwSI_g/видео.html I'm not sure it helps with the V1 but maybe it could improve the Q1

You opened up a rabbit hole for me I am just starting to emerge from...but it was an adventure. I tried using Orings on my V1 and it didn't work too well but I started clipping the standoffs in a cheaper board to see if I can do it there. I also started experimenting with different plate materials. I now have the brass plate on my V1 with some super tactile Quinn switches and I think I need to make another video featuring the V1 already.
