- 21 of Eve's outfits, that were shown in the Sony Playstation's State of Play trailer for Stellar Blade, are analyzed in this breakdown. This analysis shows us just how amazing the outfits will be and reveals a lot about what Stellar Blade will offer in terms of its story, gameplay, and character design. The outfits have a range in terms of how they suit Eve. The outfits have a huge range where some are more practical, some are stylish, and then a few outfits get really wild and crazy in their look and concept. The development team no doubt had a ton of fun designing and creating Eve's outfits. It was really fun to break them all down.

I see alot of skin suits....
Some of her outfits that pull from and use actual clothing are pretty incredible. My favorite of these is the dark black and red gothic skirt outfit.
The outfits look great and ridicilously detailed, Batman arkham knight and some other last gen games are on par with Stellar Blade tho

In an interview with Pushsquare, Game Director Hyung-Tae Kim revealed that there are around 30 outfits in Stellar Blade.
OH yeah, ready for all of them and hopefully more.
The text on EVE's leg at 6:45 seems to be the Chinese characters 超光速, which means "faster-than-light". The word is the same in at least Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. If they look a bit different, it's because she's sitting: mirror them (速光超) and flip them horizontally and they'll line right up.
OMG, this is so great. You are amazing for pointing this out. Yeah, now that you mention it, the writing clearly is NOT Korean, like I said... haha... silly me, cause the text appears written more as characters, such as Chinese or Japanese, and not Korean (which has letters / an alphabet).Great find and thanks for stating this. It is definitely in line with the other text on Eve's leg stating "Devastating like lightning". I'm so ready to find out what all that text actually means in the story of Stellar Blade.

The leotard from MK and the Sweater one are also top contenders. A lot of great costumes in the game overall

Great breakdown. A few things I want to bring up:
1. BU and BE stand for Burst Gauge and Beta Gauge.
2. The Shift Up CEO, Kim Hyung-Tae, was the art director for Blade and Soul, which I played for a few years. He had a penchant for giving outfits tail-like appendages on the lower back. It was strictly cosmetic but fairly common so it doesn't surprise me to see it here as is the case with outfit #2.
3. The 2021 trailer shows another outfit that is not on the latest trailer. Its an outfit with somewhat similar colors to her green default but has a different design with transparent shoulder sleeves instead of the wings/drapes.
4. There is also another outfit in the story trailer from 2022 not in the latest video. It also has a very large black exospine component and is a white/grey suit similar to something that a StarCraft Ghost would wear. Looks pretty cool.
Appreciate the feedback. As for the BU and BE, doing a burst or flurry of attacks. I wonder what Beta means? The tail design component makes sense. Really looking forward to seeing what other cool designs there are in terms of the other outfits. Yeah the 2021 trailer is pretty sick too. I love the grey one you're referring to in your point #4 and blueish one you're talking about in point # 3. I think the grey one gives off some Miranda Lawson vibes from Mass Effect :)
The attention to detail for her suits is insane, great breakdown you do them justice! I hope we see a bit more skirt/floaty dress outfits too

Great breakdown video, I can also spend hours just watching these amazing designs and imaging how wonderful and fun for the team must have been to work on these.
I just wanted to point out that number 11 is the one you get by pre ordering the game and 21 is the one that comes with the deluxe edition.

3:26 her hair is literally right there sticking out between her legs lol, still great overview and analysis of the outfits! Looks like the devs put a lot of attention to detail into designing these so i'm glad to see they're getting this kind of attention.

I have a feeling this will eventually get ported to PC. There is some evidence for this as this has happened with other games that were on Playstation with Returnal and the more recent Helldivers 2. I hope you'll be able to play Stellar Blade eventually
No, the three complicated characters on Eve’s right leg “超光速“ are Chinese characters means “super light speed” or “over light speed”.

Rarely, if ever do we get customization options where every outfit is a 10/10 but SB somehow does the impossible. The designers absolutely went all out and I can’t thank them enough.

I think the gothic outfit is a modern take of "Hanbok" which is the traditional dress of Korea.
Oh yeah good catch. If Shift Up can pull from their South Korean culture that would be hella cool. They gotta throw in some KPop for sure too :)

Yes that's been a thought of mine too.. maybe her prototype is outfitted by the military to do more combat feats? Not sure, but it's gonna be an awesome game.

6:36 I looked it up. It's written in Hanja (Chinese characters) in Korean, it's pronounced Cho guang sok and it means ultra light speed.
Not a native speaker, but I dabble in CJK.
Oh hell yeah. That tracks and is consistent with what the other writing on her leg says. I wonder what it all means in terms of who she is and the overall story? Nice find with the translation :)

Indeed, Hanja is Korean, so "超光速" which is a Korean word using Chinese characters, would be spelled using these Hangul characters "초광속" and would be pronounced the same way regardless of what characters are used. Using Romanized characters, the words are pronounced roughly 'cho-guang-sok', and it basically means 'in excess of the speed of light' or just as well, "ultra lightspeed." Your translation is good. Samsung's own Korean to English translator converts "초광속" to "SUPERLIGHT FLUX" (which the translator presented in all capital letters), which also works, I suppose, if we use some variation of the meaning of flux.
The devs have already said, there will be outfits, accessories(glasses,jewelry, and clothing attachments), and hair styles to farm from quest and bosses...
Sweet. I didn't know that about the hair styles. I thought I noticed at least one different hair style/look in the trailer, but I wasn't sure. This is great to hear. Just to correct you, there are 20 outfits in this footage 15 and 16 are the same design. Also I knew before this trailer we had the ability to changes outfits coz in the 2021 and 2022 trailer they showed her in multiple outfits, my favourite on is the one in the Project Eve trailer in 2021 where she is platforming, that is the best outfit for me and I like the two in the 2022 trailer.
I have much respect for Hyung Tae Kim, jokes aside about the backside comment, I have always said to myself that the back of a playable character should look 10x better than the front, for example Dead Space 2 the back of Isaac`s suit looks better than the front, it just makes sense to make the back better.
I didn`t like Neir coz of the aesthetics but I appreciate it`s existence because it has inspired other games (Phantom Hellcat) Eve looking attractive is just a bonus for me on top of the sick gameplay.
I`m glad that it`s a hack & slash game that`s getting this much attention and I can be apart of the hype, H&S game have been in the decline over the years but now they are coming back.

Great comment and feedback. Yeah, the Shift Up team really is doing a great job and I totally agree with you about the idea of the back of a player needing to be well designed and something unique to look at if the game is a third person video game. Great list of games as well. I def will.
I like the one with the metallic green and the skin suit because it reminds me of the one the Major wears in Ghost in the Shell.
Yea that one is nice. I hear there's going to be post-launch outfits. Perhaps Shift-Up will do some cross over outfits - maybe they'll do a Motoko one

Some how i dont think eve wil wear hoodies, it wouldnt make sense honestly the weapon is in her hair u see its parts dangling at the start of her pony tail hoodie would mess that up no?
Yeah I can see how that is a problem. I think it's freaking so unique that the developers hid her blade in her hair, and it's a really cool look how Eve pulls out and deploys her sword, so yeah, I could see how that wouldn't work with a hoodie on. Perhaps it can only be equipped out of combat? haha. I'm just really hoping for it cause I would love to see that look. But thinking about it, it would be hard to pull off cause of all the things the developers would then have to consider like lighting and shadows within the hood on Eve's face.
When he was talking a out her head being shaped like wearing a hood she is looking up and her hair is visibly between her legs, I think he's dreaming

That trailer is pretty sick too. The bodysuits in that trailer are really amazing as well.
eve is not an android she's human. thats why tachy lost her arm and you see bone and muscle tissue and blood. the letters are just the suit manufacturers and its been noted there are different manufacturers in universe. now that the demo is out you can change outfits one from the 2nd drop unit
Bone, Muscle, and Blood isn't uncommon for Sci fi androids to be depicted having. The NieR androids had them, terminators have them.
@@gibbygibbstein7858 terminators are metal skeleton with living tissue. eve isn't an android that's why her whole unit was killed... if they weren't human they could be revived.
@@trust4jab If you use the scanner pretty frequently you'll come across human corpses that are occasionally beheaded and have a bunch of mechanical components coming out of their necks, something a human wouldn't have at all. You could argue it's a cyborg but that's an assumption.
The city is also named Eidos 7 which in Greek, eidos is a philosophy commonly referring to the shape or form of a thing, the devs said Eve is a human but that could be them lying to preserve their plot line while also leaning into that philosophy.
Some people have also pointed out how Tachy's bones had a metallic sheen to them.
There's not enough information to immediately assume they are human or aren't human, I find it odd that a human survivor would have mostly mechanical insides

eve is the type of character that gatcha games would make a killing on if they dropped the anime drawn aesthetic and went for a more realistic looking open world, oh and they would need to be open world real time combat ala genshin skyrim wuther waves, witcher 3, breath of the wild, black desert, etc.
though i do wish she had a high heel outfit with exposed legs, no thigh highs or any tights

I think the outfit at 28:04 and 30:01 are the same, just different colors.

I'm so glad the microshop will ahve the outfits so i can Buy the one i like best to farm all the rest in! Also i dont do digital D/ls if at all possible, I much rather have the physical disk, but will those included in the digital game only available that way?
Agree with you on buying outfits from the in-game shops if available. I believe Hyung Tae Kim already confirmed this :) Hopefully Sony will put together a collectors or limited edition physical copy with an Eve statue or something like that. As for the outfits in the digital editions, it seems that way for now unfortunately.

That would be really great if she did. I am half Korean and my mom had a traditional one she kept from back in the day. If shiftup could make something like you're saying, it would give them some serious street cred

Definitely up there for me too. Lately I've been thinking perhaps something like a replicant from the Blade Runner movies, or half/half like you said.

Yeah my wishes for a hood might not come to fruition. It would create some really design challenges, but here's to hoping. In terms of it being Eve, she kinda has a scowl so perhaps it looks different. Appreciate your feedback.
Great job! This is the first time in a video game that I don't know which outfit to choose and which one is my favourite. They're all sublime!

Yes that blue outfit where Eve is platforming is really nice looking. The exospine components on the back of bodysuits like that make it really intriguing to look at. Great catch and thanks for posting the comment.

Star with circle emblem propably mothersphere.
I think this represents the stellar blade as it is a star with a protruding downward point (the sword pointed downward at earth) and the circle represents the colony (where mother sphere is currently housed).
@@unlistednaytiba well. yes. i think too that this version is most correct, buuuuut (obviously) another version came to my mind, because there are at least 2 scenes in another shift up's project "Nikke" where Enikk (Ai) holding hands (circle) around shining planet (star), and 2nd scene where she holds in her hands shining image of ark-city. so i was like "hmm. why not?"

My only critique with this game is if outfits make sense for the theme and character.
Sexy outfits for the sake of being sexy really don’t work. It should be sexy and badass because the characters theme is sexy and badass. Like Lara Croft for example.
Her shorts and tank top are iconic. Black widows tight leather suit fitting for a spy. Same for cat woman as well.
Very good points and yes I agree. There does seem to be some evidence that Eve may be an android and be one in a series of products that could be purchased for companionship or service (kinda similar to Joi from Blade Runner 2049) so perhaps that's why some of the sexier outfits exist, but yeah some outfits like the bunny suit may just be there as something fun. Regardless, I'm glad we're getting excited for this game.

Bayonetta and Lara have their iconic styles but Eve is like a clothing catalogue wearing all types of styles.
Eve is very pretty, but I don't get the big deal. That's what the average woman looks like that. Most women have that exact body type. She's very pretty, I'm not trying to say she's not, but she doesn't really look that special
I think it more has to deal with recently a lot of western game developers make the female characters less attractive especially since most of the time the face models do look way better than the in game characters
Yeah I'm hoping we get some good story behind who / what Eve actually is. The outfits will be fun to bring out her character over the course of the game.

Yes that's what I'm hoping for too. Now that Sony PS games have their own logo opening (similar to the marvel logo opening of Marvel movies), it would be great if Eve is, or eventually became, included amongst the Sony gaming icons.@@dstroxp

It will be the only game you will play some parts over and over to get all outfits assuming they will be locked behind some challenges.
I hope there are some outfits that are really challenging to get and not simply ones we purchase at an in-game shop in Xion. It would be great to really have to earn some of the more coveted outfits.
