2009-2012 was such a magical time for the scene. Everything was so simple, creativity from everyone everywhere. Just klids being kids. so much fun, if I could go anywhere in time I'd go back there
Hahah I totally agree but tbh 1) everyone in that crowd was probably faded & 2) when it’s crowded (and this crowd was packed) it’s hard to go hard because everyone’s jammed up against each other. I’m sure these people enjoyed the hell out of this show, I’m so jealous I wasn’t there
@@BjornLikesRiddim you’re probably right 😂I make edm and sadly I’ve never been to an edm show live and heard the bass at that volume. I want too so badly. Excision is coming to st luis soon and I might have to make a drive to go see him live. Sadly I don’t think I’ll ever get to see bassnectar live after what happened w him.
@latincasanova1985 much respect!!! :) this was either my 9th or 10th year at shambhala & that festival just keeps getting BETTER & BETTER!!!! Quick note in response though: i actually DO play & remix a lot of other artists, i am a dj at heart although i prefer live layering & looping & remixing just cuz its more fun. I will sample/play anything by anyone if it slaughters/crushes/feels right! i play heaps of original tunes as well as tons of exclusive edits but also lots of my favorite records :)
The year I was treatment, in November, and showed many of my housemates/patients Bassnectar. Lol I do not even listen to him anymore, but this time was iconic. When the US adapted dubstep hard, then it hit the East Coast. I remember letting them listen to this song. I rock the sticker on my car but I have still never him live..
shat bricks when he opened up with this in vancouver last night. i was at shambs in 2010 too but all i remember was longwalkshortdock the first night and beardyman the last night
I love the footage of the people vibing to the song they are professional dancers and this is in the music video Just genuinely enjoying the music I love it
Why does Bassnectar need to be on a crap list like dj mags top 100? He sells more tickets than any electronic musician I've heard of, and packs festivals and arenas like none other. He's first and foremost a performance artist who creates his own tunes from scratch.
But he really doesnt create his music from scratch you dingus. Literally 1/2 of it is samples, and he said himself he uses a team of ghost producers. You dumb foo
If I recall correctly (I was there), I believe it was about 30-35 degrees Celsius that afternoon, he started at 2:30 or 3 AM after ill.gates, beats antique, plump djs, subvert... and was then followed by nero. I may still be recovering.. ... Shambhala 2010 was one of the best recent years for lineups though. SO damn good.
+andy romeo by the same set I mean the same DJ playing relatively similar sets. They won't be the same, but it's very doubtful they'll vary much. Big name DJs typically try to play a lot of their newest songs and songs they know go well with them. As a result, many songs will be repeated at different venues and festivals.
+Theo Artzoglou I've seen Bassnectar 5 times, and each set has been COMPLETELY different.... Except he always plays the song "Noise" That's about it. I'm also a photographer (unfortunately, not for him) If I was an event photographer, photographing many of his sets, there's no way I could just sit and watch! I'd have to be moving!
Cool man. I think most people would want to be moving for a Bassnectar set. There's all kinds of reasons he wouldn't though. Maybe Bassnectar just lowered this guys' wage or like this guy did way too many drugs the night before haha. To say "in a moment like this you have to go ANIMAL" just doesn't really give him much credit. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but like we don't really know the whole story. He could just be a stale dude who has no music taste, but what i'm saying is that's probably not likely. You said it's unfortunate you're not a photographer for him and I think many other photographers would think the same thing. I really don't think someone who wasn't into bassnectar would get that job. TL:DR I don't think the photographer is not into bassnectar. He probably has his reasons for not feeling like moving.
That song he was going into was his remix of DC breaks - Halo (basically took the original song and made the drums half time), notice on breathless he worked with DC breaks, he took a chunk of the sample for halo
Kaos Taylor Lorin says he's cool with peeps going on stage with him as long as they are raging out hard. Bassnectar doesn't give a shit about having hot girls up there with him, he just wants ppl who know how to rage and have fun
Damn real shit this fool just keeps the crowd going, dropping dope ass beats to knock your head to! He's one of the deejay's that I actually see fuckin with his tables and mixer the most. Bassnectar is the shittt.
Remember watching this 10 years ago and been dying to hear it live and then just happened to be at okeechobee almost front row and he drops this. Couldn’t believe it
I was loving it, and when the B boys started, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. How does he take a classic song like that and just own it, awesome, this hippie's got skillz.
This is the video that made me fantasize about Shambhala for the past 3 years. I'm finally legal in BC and going for my first time this summer. Watching this video again is getting me PUMPED although I really wish Bassnectar would be performing...

+Jared K you obviously cant mix. And rely on new "tech" to make yourself believe your doing something. like 2007/8 to like 2010/11 for me maybe a little later. I wholeheartedly agree. Much love~
Aye fam. Right here w/ you. When did it get so commercial..
Would literally kill for those 3 years of my life again.
Bruhhhh. For real.
still looks like the most casual bassnectar show ever
@@elibsf you didn't watch the video
Why is boring asshole?
Lol no cap I was thinking the same

Bassnectar is hands down the best concert/musical experience I've ever been a part of
facs.
wayne williams still killin it these days too on a much larger scale!
100% agree

I would kill for a studio quality version of this mash up
He always has sick mashups that will never get a studio quality release. That's the magic of seeing it live.
Treebs Is he even dropping this live anymore tho? I've seen him half a dozen times and he's been doing other stuff with here we go. I missed out :(

I was on the subs after days of partyin... one of the best moments of my life
3 years and still one of my favourite live sets
Great, great memories.
Twelve years later and I still feel the excitement from being there.
its 2018 and i still find myself jamming out to this video.
I would hate having people standing 2 feet behind me while I mix..
lol I love at 3:00 when the photographer loses his ability to concentrate on his job for a second
just saw him last night and he is so unbelievably amazing live. Hardest bass BY FAR i have ever felt in my life.

i was cringing so hard watching him "rage".. but i guess if he's having fun then more power to him lol.
I went to the comments just for that guy, so awkward.
